  • awesome tutorial WolfEchoes, is this the only way to achieve a spider shirt or are there other methods? Reason I am asking is I've seen some wi;d spider shirts and was wondering if there was another applicator to get those designs? TIA.

  • @Eye4TieDye

Thanks. I only know of this way... the fold has to be the middle to get the "mirror". Maybe there is other ways to achieve the spider part, but it may all come down to application technique.

There are some wicked looking spiders on Addicted To Tie Dying - and someone there might know an answer to that (FaceBook). But I have never seen another way...

  • what kinda paint do you use ?

  • You use regular clothing dye right?

  • Comment removed

  • Lol mine looks like a Peace sign!

  • How long do you let it set for before rinsing it?

  • @sheshir

I let mine go three days in a bag... but most say that uis too long to wait. as 24 hours.

If you add heat (while in the bag) it can make it super fast...

Microwave the shirt for about 30 seconds, flip and go another 30... then let it cool before rinse.

  • @WolfEchoes

Not sure what my type did there...

Some wait as little as 24 hours.

  • when you wash it in the machine do u put in soap or just water

  • @cookiemonsterwuvsyoo

I add a small amount of soap.

    Nothing major, on cold...

  • do you dampen your shirt first?

  • @HOOGALYBOB

Yes, so the surface tension is gone and the dye can get through the top layer. Just damp, not dripping wet...

  • I love this guy.

"There's many many ways to apply your dye... and all of them are right." And just so relaxed and accepting about it :p

  • How long should I dry them?

  • Nice thanks for the tip! :D

  • What brand of dye did you use?

  • @kristen10copley

These are PROCION MX dyes... awesome.

  • I love this video but how did you apply your dye for the one at 9:22 ?

  • @gallimaufryful

That is the basic spider, but without the middle "highlight" extra dying. So the dye was just put on more like a normal spiral, just color with no black or dark centre spider portion...

    Make sense?

  • what temperature do u wash it on?

  • @getinmyboatordie

I was in cold or cool... never hot.

  • this is some truly hippie shit... I LOVE IT!!! :D

  • What kind of die did you use? The shirt looks awesome btw!

  • @Caitlynsmile

Thanks... these dyes are PROCION MX.

They are the best dyes I have ever used or seen (so far).

  • @WolfEchoes awesome I will try that Thank you

  • Epic!!!!! thanks for the vid.

  • i love you for the song during the review xD you're my hero. lol

  • Do you Get the shirt wet first?

  • Thank you! That was awesome. I did some Tie Dye at my work for a festival and it made us want to do it for my daughter's birthday. We're definitely going to try your method.

  • love the music. Thanks for sharing your tips.

  • Oh My GOD!!! i really want to make a tye dye t shirt!! how do you do them in 3 differnt colors?

  • @bobfari

just like he did but then with more colours =]

  • 9:25 is so cool o:

  • this is fantastic , thats for the video it was really clear and helpful ! peace

  • @PeachPrincess721 it so does

  • what kind of dye do you usually use

  • @WolfEchoes

First off I'd like to say the last shirt is amazing can you maybe give a little bit of an explanation on how you achieved that affect?

Also I noticed your colors really pop did you use Sodium Alginate at all?

  • Hello, what dye did you use? Because I am familiar with using Dylon die (an english based company) where you have to go by leaving your shirt in dye for about an hour.

What I want to know is, if anyone could tell me, what kind of dye can I use where I can use it with this method through a bottle instead of the hour dip in method?

  • I love this one!

I plan to make a few when I can. :)

  • I LOVE the one at 9:22

  • I plan on doing my child's nursery in Tie-Dye..Sheets, Comforter, Curtins. I have a few questions.

A:Is there a certain Dye you can suggest that wont harm my babys skin

B: Can I do this awesome spider design on the comforter(I plan on making the comforter myself, basically taking a white piece of fabric Tie-Dying it, then sewing it and making a comforter)

  • @st3fni33rind0ty

I make kid's shirts quite a bit for the local hospital.

Once the dye is set and the rinse is done, the shirts or material then washed in a machine... all should be fine.

As long as the wash is clear (no dye running into it changing the colour), you should have no troubles or worries as far as I am aware.

There are all natural dyes out there, but they are quite expensive. (Search: Maiwa Handprints).

For the comforter, maybe practice a bit first on some cut sheets.

    Have fun!!

  • @WolfEchoes Thank you this was very helpful....Me and my husband are lookinf fwd to doing it

  • 9:20 looks like a cat.

  • @ShrugsAndKisses

    I can see that!

    Cool.

  • If I Tie Dye a Baseball T Shirt With This Method Will The Black Sleeves Get Messed UP?

  • if you wash it will it fade badly? can you wash them with other clothes?

thanks for the upload by the way!

  • @chisdenha

If the dyes are set right, there will be very minimal fade (at least with Procion dyes and higher end dyes).

You can wash dyes with normal clothes, once you have done a couple washes with the dyes. I just keep dark with dark... but well set dye should remain sweet in most cases.

  • I want to do this to something! Thanks for sharing!

  • can you replace urea and soda ash with salt and vinegar?

  • @ellaine1717

I am not sure. The ingredients on these dyes calls for urea and salt - salt is important... but I am not sure what vinegar would do. The soda ash is critical to the setting of the dye. Not all dyes need the soda ash though...

    Procion MX do for sure.

  • Wich ink is this?

  • @HappyBoy920

    These are PROCION MX dye.

Same as Dharma dyes out of the USA.

    Great dye to work with!

  • can you pleeeease mak one showing how to get the last shirt?? before the vid ends??? it looks really cool

  • last one was the bestt!

  • the four was so sick wish i had skill like that!!!!

  • wow you have some mad skills =) i might have to try this

  • 9:18 it kinda looks like an animal

  • sweet as man! im so qonna try this for suree! thanks :)

  • Great video, I was looking for some cool designs for some halloween shirts I am doing. This will be perfect!

  • to hold the cloth 2gether did u out lik rubber bands anywhere ? or does it naturally get that tight

  • that fourth one was def my fav, but they were all really awesome!! thnx for showing us how to do it!

  • how did you get the design to look how it does at 9:18?

  • @JUNIORxHENDRIX

I belive it is the dye at the bottom right of 8:14

  • fantastic techniques! thank you, anybody used Olay's newest product line? it's not easy to obtain makeup in Berryville but i managed to recieve some impressive samples by using "GratisMakeupSamples", there awesome!

  • Those are really cool looking. I dye my shirts too. Only they come out as a 3-D affect and look brighter than a normal tie dyed shirt

  • thanks.. we are going to try this on the weekend.

  • for dye can u just use water mixed with food coloring?

  • @Vi3tSk8r no honey fabric dyes and food dyes are different they react differently on cloth and in the wash. Do not use food coloring or hair dyes in place of a fabric dye there is a reason why they are different. because they are used for different things. If you used food dye it would probably majorly fade everytime you used it.

  • wow thanks

  • u don't have to order the dye, u can pick them up at a craft store like JoAnns.

  • do you have to order your dyes or can you buy them from a open public store?

  • @i1234t1234

I pick mine up at a store in Vancouver.

They mailorder, as do many all over North America.

Art supply shops and craft stores will often cary some types of dye.

These higher end dyes are well worth the hassle though, big time.

  • @i1234t1234 You can find the dyes at wal-mart

  • @JFrance1021 yeeeeah rit dyes and the 4 color dye kits kinda sorta suck balls. Iv used both and both have well... sucked balls.

  • @i1234t1234 Well I just found Dharma Fiber Reactive Procion Dyes you can check them out at dharmatrading(.)com. Do you have a Michaels Craft store around you? not sure if they carry it but I'm gonna check that out as well

  • @JFrance1021 there are not many craft stores around me so no. i would if i could but i cant

  • i lovee the shirtss! what type of dye do you use to make them ??

  • @mmmkaybaybay

These dyes are PROCION MX = a great dye for cotton. Very bright and nice.

But any dye will work... just some are better. The Procion MX are a bit expensive, but worth it. Dharma Dyes are comparable.

  • 9:24 there is a little dface in the middle oh my that is so scary

  • hey nice shirts but i wanna now what ingredients u use to make the colors u put some water and what else?

  • Water, salt, urea, soda ash and the dye powder.

These are PROCION MX dye powders...

  • can you put something in the dye so it doesent lose it's color when you wash it a few times,or is it because of the dye ?

  • Higher end dyes should last better - sometimes using them more concentrated helps.

SYNTHRAPOL is an additive I have heard of for after dying to help keep the non dyed areas brighter, but I have never used it.

Maybe try leaving the shirt an extra day, or try heating the shirt to set the dye better.

  • Thanks,i saw in another video that salt helps but i don't know i will have to try.

  • @bgsk8 Yes, these dyes require salt as an ingredient... I would say most dyes do - just be sure to disolve it fully. (Experiment on pieces of cut sheet).

  • Where do you buy the bottles for the tie dye? I've looked in a lot of places, but we haven't been able to find them.

  • The last few I got were from a tie dye kit... but originaly it was an artist supply shop. Some art sections may have them in larger department stores. Sometimes you can find things similar in bakery supply or fabric shops too...

  • omg. i didnt know it was made like that

i was watching the video and was like. why the hell should you do that? but when you unfold it it looks cool

  • it kinda looks like a lion :))

  • wow im not really into tye dying but wow, this was just beautiful!!!!!!!!!!

  • hahahahah no i think everyone who would be wathing this video defs does

  • ahhhh beautiful beautiful:)

  • is there any one watchin this that doesnt get high......... nice.

  • me :)

  • @feefoofii hahahahahaha

  • I LOVE IT!

  • that was really cool!

  • this was really good=]

  • what kind of dyes r those

  • These are Procion MX dyes...

  • where can I buy them

  • I get mine in Vancouver Canada... but they will mail order also.

    Maiwa Handprints

  • how did u dye the one 9 min and 23 sec in?

  • He fast forwarded, and skipped out on some of the preparations necessary to begin tie dying a shirt/piece of fabric

  • u dont duh think a little

  • Tie Dye rocks!

  • Much more stable than the last spider tutorial, I really like your designs. I joined your facebook group and even tried the spider design on my own but the bottles let the dye flow a bit too freely so it wasn't as precise and nice as yours, turned out more like a swirl. I definitely have to try it again! Very helpful videos!
