LOTS of good ideas, but at the end of the day and lets be honest, all a person needs is SOAP. You can brush your teeth with pine needles. The problem with all this stuff is that it teaches you nothing about long term survival, it runs out within a week or so its better to learn the skills to how to use nature to do EVERYTHING, and you can. The whole idea of 72hrs is ridiculous because you can survive that long with a bottle of water if you needed to. Its gets too detailed. LEARN the skills.
I noticed that Bushcraft on Fire recommended the zinc oxide, not only is it great as a deodorant, but its great for chaffing, & keeping moisture off the skin, which is why it's used on baby bottom & it's a natural sun screen. With that & baking soda, you could take on the world :) Great video!
Actually imagine two weeks without brushing, flossing, or bathing. That's what happened in 2005 w Katrina. Creature comforts make all the difference. Do you want to survive or thrive in an emergency? I plan to thrive.
The mineral blocks work very well. I've been using them as my primary deodorant for decades. Also, in a pinch, scrubbing the armpits with isopropyl alcohol works as a deodorant, too.
@menasor2 It's a crystal 'rock' type thingy you get at a health food store. They're cheap and last forever. Just ask for a crystal (mineral salts) deodorant rock.
another thing you might like to think about is KY jelly, it functions great for shaving without water or to get your hair in order, drys clean...and always has the original purpose on its side, it gets lonely out there...
I buy cheap tooth brushes, and hack the handles off, they last allot longer than those wisps, rather than tooth paste i carry hydrogen peroxide for use as a general purpose antiseptic/ mouth wash, you could buy the hair dye solution that's about 50+ percent and dilute it with water to keep your kit compact but i have never done it... I use alcohol for a hand sanitizer , for sanitizing utensils, and as fuel for my cook stove.

I like the baking soda idea.. Also.. I use Zinc Oxide for a "deoderant". One application will last 4-5 days & A single small tube will last many months!
Im not giving him shit? I'm just asking, what is he preparing for. A nuclear attack ? A global crop failure? outbreak of smallpox? a breakdown of all law and order? What is the event? Cos a fuckin deoderant will be the last of his worries.
@ANTIDALLARD Actually hygiene is VERY important during a survival situation, especially for morale reasons. If you are being tracked its a bad idea, but if your in the woods for an extended period of time it is very important.
Hey man sweet vid. Look out for Tryclosan in toothpaste. It is an endocrine disruptor and basically introduces synthetic estrogen into ur system. One more reason to think 2x about the toothpaste.
When I started getting a rash from right guard I tried using colloidal silver as a deodorant. It worked great. The skin on my underarms started getting a slight darker tint to them so I stopped but it would be a great substitute for deodorant in an emergency.
Unfortunately, us women can't shave with a straight razor, do you have any suggestions about alternatives for the females in the audience?
