well here is what I see,a supra set up for 1/4 mile with a auto roll racing from 70mph running out of gear vary quickly still pulling on the bmw.do it right put some tires on both the cars and go from a dig.both nice cars,supra is cheaper to build and faster.and yes I own a e36 m3 turbo.
@japslapr the E46 M3 S54B32 motor can take a turbo. Aftermarket turbo always shortens the lifespan of a motor but an engine that's well built and a turbo installed by a pro (I've seen DIY jobs go horribly wrong...sometimes reading the instruction manual isn't enough) will not pose any severe threat to the life of the engine. That car will whip ass on the strip for a while to come.
Yeah man, its around 275 to the wheels realistically. Sometimes you get freaks from the factory, but more than likely you'll run 275 to 285ish. Check at your local dyno if you don't think so, or read the numbers on sites like E46 fanatics or M3 forums. Still though, it's 275 hp projecting it to 0-60 in 4.5 to 4.9 depending on the conditions. Still pretty damn fast in my opinion. I love mine and I want a HPF kit on mine ASAP!
@soldierx345 the new one probably makes 330+ to the wheels iwth the 414 hp v8. the stock S54 engine really is fantastic. with bolt ons itll push 400hp at the crank. i have a 280-290hp E36 M3 with full bolt ons and a chip. i was going to boost it but i really want a newer car. so i think i am going to sell it and buy a 2001 E46 M3
@soldierx345 Mine is a 95 M3 with the S50 3.0liter L6 single VANOS stock 240 horsepower 226 trq. the 96-99 E36 M3 has the S52 which is a 3.2 liter L6 Single VANOS makes 240Horsepower 240 trq. a well maintained S50 will pull just as hard or harder than the S52 . i agree i dislike the fact BMW went to a V8 in there lightweight sports coupe now its a boat with a V8 :-P. the 95 i like more than the 96-99 because i hate US Emissions laws so with my 95 i can de-cat it no CEL. e46 2001-2006

How safe is 11 psi for an e46 M3? I was told that 6 or 7 psi would be ideal for safty. In addition whats better, turbo kit or Active Autowerks Supercharger?
Get the HPF stage 2 turbo. You can run 91 octane pump gas or race fuel, and it auto-detects methanol in a separate tank. The kit runs 6psi on pump gas and 13psi on 110 octane.
active autowerks new kit costs 11000ish and will put your e46 at 506 wheel horse.. where do you live? i work at a bmw tuning shop and we have active autowerke sponsership.

turbo cars are actually better automatic. cause you dont need to push in a cutch let off the gas and the rpms drop. with a big single you gotta then wait for it to spool. automatic shifts very fast with no time to wait for boost, cause it only drops like 300 rpm. its a fact. i prefer manuals but you cant shift faster than a computer its a fact!
how can an auto only lose 300rpm during a shift, kinda stupid to have two gears only 300rpm seperating them. manuals do not take long at all to shift, they r lighter, can handle more power easily and for the most part u can shift them faster then an auto, unless u have a extremely sporty one.
you can't shift a manual trans faster than an electronically controlled solenoid. Proven fact. if you get a shift kit they shift even faster. this causes higher operating pressures and replacing the accumulator spring causes faster shifts. take a look at track cars especially F1 they use seqeuntal manual gearboxes. on an E46 M3 with an SMG the physical trans. is the same as the manual(on the inside) but it is electronically shifted using the SMG module. this shifts faster then the manual ANYDAY
yea, when u put money into like, such as in a multi million dollar f1 car. i doubt the 10+year old auto in a supra has the technology to beat out a manual by that much. if u put money and time into designing or upgrading an auto then mayb, but from the factory on entry-mid level sports car the manual will b better.
You forget that you can rev up the engine in between gears on a manual. The fastest track cars don't use an automatic gearbox, they use a sequential MANUAL gearbox.

I know supra owners, any many of them will argue to the core about their autos. My friend actually owned an auto supra, I loved that damn car to death. He bought the auto, autos do work well with turbo cars, especially a big ass turbo like in the vid, if you take to stock Supras, one 6sp the other auto, the auto will win every time.
Don't get me wrong, I love manual trans, but there's nothing wrong with an auto supra...they dip. Plus they are A LOT cheaper...

No, brake horsepower is different from crank horsepower man. BHP is measured at the brakes, and would be less than crank horsepower due to more drivetrain losses from the diff and what not.
No, BRAKE horsepower. They take the wheels off and lock in the wheel studs into the dynometer so there are no frictional losses that there are associated with WHP. Crank horsepower is at the crankshaft, NOT the wheels or brakes so there are minimal drivetrain power losses. Get your shit straight.

Hey fucking n00b. Manufactuers claim 333hp to the CRANK, NOT THE WHEELS. Every car suffers from drivetrain loss between the transmission/driveshaft/axles. Thanks for all the comments. There are now over 10 HPF turbo'd M3's out there. We turned the boost up on one of them with the exact same kit as this one in the video and it made 724rwhp. Just do a search in youtube for "724rwhp". We're about to modify the engine on another M3 and turn the boost up to over 800rwhp. We'll have a rematch of an HPF stage 3 M3 vs. a Supra. We might add a 4th gear to the Supra auto to make it more even.

most people hate it. they say that note doesnt belong on an m3 becuase its a wide bodied car. they want to hear a really deep v8 and complain about it being raspy. I however love it. I can tell an m3 from a mile away.

i agree with Satandueglemsk. Normally i would have the same arguement as u veitklap but after the first race between supra and m3 told me the M3 was much faster. if you can make up that much ground thats a fast ass car. It tears me up to say this but the Supra lost and would have lost with only 1 person in the car. :(

How safe is 11 psi for an e46 M3? I was told that 6 or 7 psi would be ideal for safty. In addition whats better, turbo kit or Active Autowerks Supercharger?

Get the HPF stage 2 turbo. You can run 91 octane pump gas or race fuel, and it auto-detects methanol in a separate tank. The kit runs 6psi on pump gas and 13psi on 110 octane.

turbo cars are actually better automatic. cause you dont need to push in a cutch let off the gas and the rpms drop. with a big single you gotta then wait for it to spool. automatic shifts very fast with no time to wait for boost, cause it only drops like 300 rpm. its a fact. i prefer manuals but you cant shift faster than a computer its a fact!

how can an auto only lose 300rpm during a shift, kinda stupid to have two gears only 300rpm seperating them. manuals do not take long at all to shift, they r lighter, can handle more power easily and for the most part u can shift them faster then an auto, unless u have a extremely sporty one.

you can't shift a manual trans faster than an electronically controlled solenoid. Proven fact. if you get a shift kit they shift even faster. this causes higher operating pressures and replacing the accumulator spring causes faster shifts. take a look at track cars especially F1 they use seqeuntal manual gearboxes. on an E46 M3 with an SMG the physical trans. is the same as the manual(on the inside) but it is electronically shifted using the SMG module. this shifts faster then the manual ANYDAY

yea, when u put money into like, such as in a multi million dollar f1 car. i doubt the 10+year old auto in a supra has the technology to beat out a manual by that much. if u put money and time into designing or upgrading an auto then mayb, but from the factory on entry-mid level sports car the manual will b better.

You forget that you can rev up the engine in between gears on a manual. The fastest track cars don't use an automatic gearbox, they use a sequential MANUAL gearbox.
You really need to learn the correct terms for what you are talking about....a DME is an ECU

I know supra owners, any many of them will argue to the core about their autos. My friend actually owned an auto supra, I loved that damn car to death. He bought the auto, autos do work well with turbo cars, especially a big ass turbo like in the vid, if you take to stock Supras, one 6sp the other auto, the auto will win every time.
Don't get me wrong, I love manual trans, but there's nothing wrong with an auto supra...they dip. Plus they are A LOT cheaper...

No, brake horsepower is different from crank horsepower man. BHP is measured at the brakes, and would be less than crank horsepower due to more drivetrain losses from the diff and what not.

No, BRAKE horsepower. They take the wheels off and lock in the wheel studs into the dynometer so there are no frictional losses that there are associated with WHP. Crank horsepower is at the crankshaft, NOT the wheels or brakes so there are minimal drivetrain power losses. Get your shit straight.

So what the fuck is a differential, transfer case (4WD), tranny, etc? You lose power through those dude. It's small, but you do lose power. Crank power is measured at the crankshaft, not the wheel studs like BHP. BHP is basically the power measurement without frictional and slip losses from the tires. You're just wrong dude. Euro spec Me is 343 bhp, USA get a little less due to some stupid emission law. But compared to the power from the other two, I think 5 or 6 bhp is not going to help... sound well tuned engines all the same...

Thanks for all the comments. There are now over 10 HPF turbo'd M3's out there. We turned the boost up on one of them with the exact same kit as this one in the video and it made 724rwhp. Just do a search in youtube for "724rwhp". We're about to modify the engine on another M3 and turn the boost up to over 800rwhp. We'll have a rematch of an HPF stage 3 M3 vs. a Supra. We might add a 4th gear to the Supra auto to make it more even.

2001-2006 M3's are 333hp at the crank with 3.2 litres, which translates to 275hp at the wheels or squeezing out over 100hp per litre. Listen to the guy, he says it when he's describing the cars. Besides, I'm 100% anyway because i have a '03 M3, and have tuned and modded my car quite a bit.
