like one said, polish people in vilnius are different than real polish people from Poland, cuz people in Vilnius don't even speak polish, their language is a mix of lithuanian, russian and polish and sometimes when u ask polish talking people to translate something, they don't even know how. so that is the main reason why there are many trivial disagreements between lithuanians and polish people, cuz we all defend our nationalities. but these disagreements aren't a rule so don't be unfriendly :)

i strongly doubt :D cuz `polish` in Vilnius is really not real Polish, Polish-talking people just use Lithuanian or Russian words and add typical Polish endings. i think it's normal, cuz all the people in Vilnius were influenced by different cultures and languages, but it still sounds funny to me, when people in Vilnius and its surroundings tell me that they're real Polish but basically can't translate any Polish word !!! sorry but that's how it goes here :)

Because of occupation Vilnius had been polonized for some years. Now we have more than 50% Lithuanians in the city and that's very fine for one of the European capitals. And please don't throw your lies on Lithuania. We do have more scientific and cultural achievements and heritage than you could ever imagine. Accept the facts and honour. Vilnius was a town of The Grand Duchy of Lithuania until the times of three divisions of the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth by the three neighbour countries, and then our corporate country fully disappeared from maps (1795 year). Only then Vilnius became not a Lithuanian city.

1) Personal Union of Krevo, then in 1569 full Union of Lublin.
2) Teutonic Order in XVIc.
3) Read history.. in 1918 we liberated Vilnius, then seized by red army , after battle of Warsaw in 1920 retreating red army gave it to Lithuania..
4) I know it was your historical city but in 1920 majority of inhabitants were polish nationality..

Yes, I agree that Vilnius city and surrounding territories had been annexed by Poland for several years in the first half of 20th century. But it is just history. Our city was founded by a Lithuanian duke in Middle Ages and this means that (absolutely) no Poles and no other people can call this city as Polish city.

On Oct 9 of 1920 year, the Polish Army under General Lucjan Żeligowski broke the treaty and seized Vilnius after a staged coup. The city and its surroundings were proclaimed the separate state of Central Lithuania. On February 20, 1922 after elections, the whole area was annexed to Poland.

there are many historical facts remained from, e.g.,16th century that show us how many similar and common things such as one state, money, blazons lithuanian and polish noblemans and other officers used to share.Polish culture & Christianity made a huge influence on Lithuania. But nowadays in Vilnius pseudo-polish people can't call themselves Polish because:
1) they don't speak fluent in polish
2) they've never been to Poland
3) they don't practice any polish ethnic acitivities and etc.
