According to his son Ben " it would have to be some offer to get him back on the road these days." That is a quote from a message Ben sent to me. Too bad!
Blind Eye is all about the drummer. Steve Upton is an unsung legend. Sad he is out of the buisness now. (unless anyone knows different and has a recent update on him).
It was at a St Alban's pub upstairs where I saw Wishbone Ash. It was realy good to see this band up so close, 1970 and I was 15yrs old. Since then I had seen them many more times.
Gosh it looks like Andy is playing a PRS guitar. I know a little about WA and that surprised me. Was PRS building in 1988? He usually had the flying V or a Music man, right?
@martianshoes I met PRS at the Bayou in DC where I was a bouncer. He was making guitars out of Annapolis MD as early as the mid to late 70's. The first as far as I know went to some of the locals bands in my area and spread out from there. Here, he is a Legend.
I liked the Ash so much when I was a kid. But learned from THEM the swindle of what's known today as the "theme" tour. Such as Rolling Stones "Voodoo Lounge" tour etc. That's when your "idols" avoid playing the tunes you just paid for, and sell thier "new project" instead. The Ash exibited extreme anger we would dare holler for our favorites rather than take the hit. Only a kid, Today...I'd be more than happy to scramble with these snobby limeys for my refund...
i don't know what gig your relating to but miles copeland was basically responsible for getting the original lineup back together to record an instrumental album at this time followed by a vocal album, i spoke to andy powell and roger filgate one night nd found andy very interested in my comments about the gig the previous night for feedback on how he could improve the show, he cares about the audience a lot and always tries to mix the old with the new
Thanks! Nashville Tennessee at the War Memorial Center. Just beware of the modern standard "theme tour" Most uncanny...is most people leave these concerts without even knowing what was just done to them. Notice how celebrities only appear on talk shows only when they got something NEW to sell? They sure ain't there cause they're happy to see you...
most wishbone ash gigs have included the old with the new ! for sure artists allways try and push their new music, i would not slam the ash for trying to promote new music, any artist realises they have to write new material so i'm sorry if you missed out on the classic tunes
Paul McCartney is really delivering those beloved Beatles songs on his tours. And also duplicates the exact studio record sound while doing so. Simply remarkable. And smartly...he only performs the Beatles songs he himself sang. Only McCartney and Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie can produce their record sounds so perfectly. Jagger tries his best. But the great guy live unfortunatly...is mostly yells and screams. Ha!
I have hurd Ted Turner play this as hes my was my neighbour intill a couple of weeks ago as hes moved to America. If anyone is interested he house is for sale for 1.2M. I have been to many of his parties there! Hes a great bloke.
Defnitely Steve Upton on the drums. But this is from the eightie's. I'm pretty sure it is, if you look on the reverse of Noveau Calls, he is on there and he looks like this.
Up(t)on thinking about it after I posted that, you're probably very much correct. I just still have Wishbone memories burned into my mind from the Pilgrimage and Argus days.
Indeed. I've seen Gentle Giant and now Wishbone Ash. Two of my top three favorites of all time. I never got to see these guys in concert and would have loved to. Wow, such great and wonderful memories here.
