I do think you are a bit harsh on science. Evolution is a phenomenon that is readably observable. But that does not mean that accepting the evidence does not mean being a nihilist, a materialist or non-spiritual. The educational system is heavily focused on developing left brain capacity as you say. What we need is left/right balance. Think yin and yang.
