  • Video-wise, the Kiwi Let There Be Rock...

  • i just... randomly found this. and well, it made my day.

  • Always loved this song.

Lovely to hear it again after so long

  • love the song. i like the clip. the sound is so gospel goes well with the clip bit of fun

  • fantastic drum/bass on this....I have always loved it !!!!

  • This is a Random "You Made My Day" comment. Be Happy With it. <3

  • just reading the book about the Finn brothers, this song was certainly mentioned, hell it's been years since I heard this classic

  • This song epitomizes the 80s.

    A time for happiness.

    A time to rejoice.

A time for the whole world to unite.

    A time for egalitarianism.

A time for "give and take".

A time for a "Fair go".

Not like today which is full

    of materialism, ipods, mobiles,

intollerance and spoilt generation Y kids.

  • @sebbbo77 so well said, perfect comment

  • @leokimvideo

yeah thanks mate I really appreciate that.

just trying to settle the score once and for

all to all those misguided critics who claim that

the 80s was the "selfish" decade. Look around you

now !! Generation Y couldnt give a shit about anybody !!

One day when we are all pensioners they'll take away

hospital cover so they can finance the lastest wave of

Playstation orders !! Selfish lot they are !!

  • @sebbbo77 Whats amazing about Tim and Niel Finn is the sheer amount of great song writing. I look at these clips today in a totally different light, considering the upbringing the brothers had it's amazing how they tell their storied via their songs.

  • He should have jumped off the pulpit like Bon Scott did

  • lol... and break an ankle.

  • Yeah it is the 'churchie thing' that turned me off this song -> It should have been done in a pub...lol!!!

  • @ClandestineBoogue - Only Niel pulled it off with "Nails in Feet". One would assume it is a lovey dovey song, then take a look at the clip. A song of praise more like it....yet a classic and favourite of mine, never the less..... :)

  • Loved this song. Would have liked it more without all the silly churchy imagery in the film clip. Poor Tim. It's hard to sahke a Catholic upbringing.

    "Catholic condition, strength through exhaustion"

    More like oppression through exhaustion.

  • I agree. This video sucks. Tim could have filmed this clip in a tin shed and it would have been more affective.

  • @tonyhic

    your an idiot!

your the oppressed one stop blaming the church for all your faults in life.

its not God's fault that your a loser.

  • I haven't heard this for 20 years and still know every single word... I think this is the first song I played a few lines and paused and wrote down... I even know the wah wahs at the end... I wish i was 13 again.... NZ-OZ your a legend...

  • Thank you ;)

  • This song is a classic "lolly pop" song from the 80s. Could see it being played at a GO GO bar in Thailand.

  • so much talent.....

  • I was only 10 years old but i brought this song on 45 then and still love it as much as i did 26 years ago.

  • He has the best voice ever (at least since Graham Strachan) Such a naturally gifted talent and a fine songwriter as well.

  • This clip was filmed in the Anglish church in Newtown. How do I know?We hired the hall next door and we sometimes used this church sometime in the 1980's.Tim Finn is a great Gospel singer too.

  • St Stephens Anglican Church, Newtown. My old schoolfriend's Dad was the minister there at the time - I used to get sooo excited every time this came on Countdown or Sounds Unlimited! And I used to chuckle when I heard Tim singing in I Hope I never "I'm gonna move to a new town (Newtown) where the people are nice" he he, the workings of a 13 year old's mind... I also knew that altar boy - his name was Morgan - but I don't remember if he was really an altar boy or not.

  • I remember only seeing this for the first time not long ago on Rage! I love it.

  • I remember sitting in front ig the TV as a 9 year old in Australia and this came on...instantly loved it and got the album for Xmas. To this day I still play it and love it...

  • wheres my zylophone. i wanna play real bad.

  • I loved this album!

  • I had the "Escapade" album from Tim Finn, and "Made My Day" was the best song by far off that album. It's awesome!

  • This was an AWESOME album! I have it on vinyl AND cd.

  • ohhhhh he was so gorgeous!

  • Tim was an absolute STUNNER, a REAL TREAT to the eyes!

  • Ahh Countdown another Aussie classic TV show I have the CD'S.

  • I noticed the date...

I was born the week before the episode of Countdown featuring this clip aired!

  • Totally amazed to find this song.. unreal! thanks hey! you made my day when I found it :) LOL

  • Great old school tune, love it.

  • Great success for Tim but it pretty much ended Split Enz with his solo career after this...oh well, we got Crowded House later out of it!! Loved this Album of Tim's though...good tunes...

  • reckon he did some good tunes back then solo !

  • Thanks so much for this! I have looked everywhere for this, watched it once here and hten it was not here again! THANKS!

    Love it!!

  • I cant say I remember this video being in black and white.

  • Yup, Tim decided he wanted that "aged" look and opted for it to be filmed in B&W. This has always been one of my favourite music videos. :)

  • I love you for uploading this again. I've been checking back every couple weeks. THANKS!!!!!!

  • ha ha, no worries...
