@drweepingangel Please be trolling... this was not at all a Doctor Who reference. I believe this predates Doctor Who, but regardless of that, Abbott and Costello were an American comedy duo. Doctor Who is a British series which really wasn't hugely popular in America until recently. This routine is word-play and nothing more.

Of course, these guys said a few naughty things in the burlesque clubs they played. But on TV it had to be clean. This is the best version I've seen of "Who's on First?" to date, and it's an incredible vaudeville routine...How they came up with the whole premise is astounding...It's only appropriate that in 1956, it was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, and it's certainly a well deserved honor...Thank you for the posting...

I never get tired of listening to this sketch. I grew up watching Abbott and Costello movies. Haven't watched one in a while. I'll have to check out the local video store to see if there's any there.

Possibly the reason why we can spot discrepancies and little errors in the sketch lies with the fact that they never did it quite the same each time they performed. check some of the others from the listings,,indeed in one clip Lou muffs his line and they both struggle not to laugh. lt's also worth noting that lt was Lou who always signalled the approaching end to bud by the repeated trigger words 'He'd better get it'! To their great creadit they never once refused a request to do the sketch.

And....these guys were two of the nicest. I saw them do this live at the Birmingham Hippodrome in England in the early 1950s. A couple of nights later they came to visit my younger brother in hospital. He was seriously ill and not expected to live through the night. Well, now he is 70 and doing fine.
