I haven't heard the song played on his telecaster before! Gives a really different sound doesn't it? He gave me a presentation booklet with the song's tab included inside it so I will try to get round to posting it on ultimate guitar tabs or something, keep looking out for it, hopefuly I will get round to it
this song puts me in a trance every single time i listen to it... once i hit play i can't bring myself to pause it for any reason cuz it's so enthralling. i'ma have to hit the bong sometime and see if i can get a new perspective on it then
Oh yes there are. Bob Wilson has produced the TAB with Gordon. They've made a three chapter DVD with an accompanying CD of Dodo's Dream. Available at gordon's concerts at this stage - or I'll put you in touch with Bob who's manufacturing these for Gordon.
This track makes my hair stand on end, even after dozens of listens! Gordon must be one of the most under-rated guitarists of the last 30 years. An absolute genius, and by all accounts a very modest man. Forget al the technology, this is damn difficult to execute live. And to think of and create it in the first place? Stunning!
I agree, but its 40 years. I can't understand why Roland/Boss haven't been pestering him to endorse their equipment. He has shown guitarists what can be done with just a Boss loop station, a Boss ME50 and a ton of talent. Although this piece is finished it seems to have a life of its own and grows into something new every time I hear it. A real showpiece. TAKE NOTE BOSS.
My friends and I saw this guy perform this piece at the Great British Beer Festival in Earl's Court London this August, along with a truly breath-taking set, including 'Heartsong' and much more, whilst drinking the best beer this sad little planet has to offer. I would just like to ask anyone this; does anything else in life come close? I don't think so!
wow wat a beautiful piece man, I jus typed in Guitar Legend in google and this guy's name popped up. Truely a Legend, wat a difference from those power chords and tapping, this is classy music. And gone forever?? I don't think do, thanks for posting this wonderful piece!
lucky to have just seen gordon holding a charity function in worcs`,this guy is brill`lost track of him over the years,of course im old enough to remember his "bbc holiday theme tune",i am now a re-converted giltrap fan, also lucky enough to hear him do "dodos dream" live spellbinding so talented,i have lots of backtracking to do now collecting his albums,go see him if you get the chance, you will regret it you dont.this man is up there with the best of them..oldfield and others.
learnt "At Giltraps Bar" from a magazine years back but never ever managed to get it sounding like this guy. Amazing stuff. I dunno why but i've always had this "ye olde" Robin Hood kinda impression about this guy.
I had to relearn how to pronounce consonants after having to pick my jaw up off the floor.

He records the stuff in a "Loop-station" which replays it immediately, and so he layers it. Very nice!
