"i mean what happens to the material once removed?"
The builders of this house (around Liverpool and 100 years old) seem to have used it as hardcore (crush and run). I found considerable amounts of it hanging around in the soil too. The soil pH was about 8.2. It's supposed to be neutral (7) or slightly acidic (6.5). The pH scale is logarithmic, so a change of 1 unit = 10 times difference.
how many tons is in arc....in Ostrava(Czechrepublic) ArcelorMittal steel factory we have four oxygen tandem furnace with capacity about 500 tons in one.
I begin work with Corus, england in august as a graduate engineer. Im very new to steel making. Does the slag get reworked? i mean what happens to the material once removed?
I forget. What is slag made from?

hanysk - this is a small EAF 55t gross
Nongbe07 - slag is crushed for roading
Nucorwivy - No slag pots just dumped in th pit and removed by that big CAT. Less maintenance than using carriers.
Fleetwoodu812 - slag is foamed with breeze coke injected just above steel surface.

The slag gets used for road ballast as far as I'm aware.
I do electrical work there so not too sure where it ends up exactly.

Nope, it gets dumped a level below the furnace where a grader takes it out from.
