@reginadotnet Thoroughly conditioned clay shouldn't have cracks when you bend it. Clay that hasn’t been stored in airtight bags can leach plasticizer, which makes it dry and difficult to condition. To fix this, add a couple drops of liquid polymer to the clay and thoroughly mix it in to refresh the clay and restore its pliability. Clay is easier to condition in a warm room or with warm hands. Every brand is different; some require more kneading or passes through the pasta machine than others.
great vid, i always have trouble softening, hey ppl Go on my website simplycrafty.webs.com i sell clay items, as well as others. become a member!! have fun
I need info on softening extremely hard clay. The store should not have even sold this clay, but since I do have it, I need a method to soften it to where I can work with it,
Hammers are helpful - put the clay in a zip top bag and whack away.
You may also find that gently warming the clay could help. Don't get it so warm as to cook it, but holding it in warm hands for a while could help speed up the process.
Good luck!! Truly hard clay can be the pits sometimes.
another way is chop up the clay into little pieces, clump it together, take a q-tip and dip it into some cooking oil and put it on the clump of clay, then rolling it around.
premo is a nighmare i hate it

Dumb question. Can you use a clay conditioner for air dry clay besides polymer clay?
