  • but if you insist, then fine, i'll fucking give up and give everybody T-pain auto tuners so they can start their own groups. So now everybody can sound super. And since everybody can sound super now, nobody does.

  • It doesn't matter if disco survived or not. All of today's music has alienated the older people from the young, leaving only a few musical shapeshifters tagging along with the new generation. So just take those old records off the shelf. I'll sit and listen to them by myself. Today's music ain't got the same soul. I like that old time rock and roll.

  • @tmsbnds: Why didn't (and don't) people like you stick to playing your old records and leave the rest of us the frack alone, then? That would be something. Better yet, why not admit the music you liked as a kid isn't yours anymore, and give it up instead of letting Madison Avenue and the radio industry submit the rest of us to that wretched 'Classic Rock' radio format all of these past decades?

  • @Neville6000 actually the music i like to listen to the most predates my childhood years. but that didn't happen until i grew up. btw, i DO leave everybody else alone. Problem is i can't go ANYWHERE ie the gym, bookstore, public places, passing cars, restaraunts, bars, even the workplace without being forced to plug my ipod in. the "old records" is a metaphor. I've accepted that it doesn't take talent to make music anymore. btw classic rock is where all this new stuff and disco originated from

  • @Neville6000 i guess i also might as well point out that minorities are largely present at metal and other rock venues such as Ozzfest. I've seen plenty of blacks, latinos, asians, gays and plain ol freaks having a blast in the pit. Also plenty of weed going through the crowd. You know if they got weed in the pit at a Bieber concert?

  • @tmsbnds: Not everybody needs stimulants to enjoy music, buddy-have you ever thought about that?

Also, rock's going to have to find a way to reinvent itself as a genre--Pop Demolition Night WILL NEVER HAPPEN. Even if an incident like this did, it would be met with deadly force, be demonized in the media, and actually result in sympathy/increased sales for pop/dance/urban. So don't get your hopes up.

  • Girl in the white tank top has got a PHAT ASS!!!

  • Reading the comments on this video really disappoints me.

Man, I hate how people are affiliating disco/techno/EDM with being gay. I listen (& make) nothing but EDM music & I'm as straight as an arrow. I just like EDM music because it sounds good. Not everyone who listens to EDM is fucking homo, morons.

  • LOL I can't believe everyone is getting all apeshit over some genre of music in this video. I mean, seriously, if you don't like a certain type of music, then don't fucking listen to it. Disco may have died, but EDM & hip hop came from its ashes

  • Chitown Clothing dot com has a sweet Disco Demolition T-shirt!

  • Disco never died. It became Dance Music, and I guarentee it's never going away.

  • @SeanTyasOwns That's like saying ragtime is still around. xD

  • @SeanTyasOwns

    If you like Madonna's VOGUE....

    YOU LIKE DISCO!

  • its 7:03 p.m. 7/12/2011 and disco still sucks

  • Ten Cent Beer Night in Cleveland in 1974 was worse. Handing out wooden planks for the final game at Shibe Park/Connie Mack Stadium in Philadelphia in 1970 was the worst of all.

  • "I'm 1-0 with the Tigers, currently". Great line.

  • Bieber sucks! Bieber sucks! Bieber sucks! I want to be the Steve Dahl of today.

  • @PorygonFanatics: Ain't gonna happen, buddy; most stations today are controlled by Clear Channel, Infinity Broadcasting, plus some other media conglomerates; the only independent radio stations that would even let you be like Steve Dahl are low-power ones, college/university ones, or free-form ones (like WFMU in New Jersey). Like it or not, dance music is here to stay (and Justin Bieber is a part of that, like it or not.) Want to change this? Write to your local Congressperson.

  • WE WANT TEEN POP DEMOLITION NIGHT. FUCK YOU STEVE DAHL.

  • Bill Veeck was a mad genius...from sending up a midget (Eddie Gaedel) to hit in the 1940's to Disco Demoltion Night in 1979....Bill Veeck...truly a man of the people.

  • “And those became frisbees.” LOL

  • Steve Dahl you are the one that SUCKS!

    You deserve to die!

    You MF!

  • Why the heck you faggots post "B*eber" or "G@ga" in every single f***ing music-related video? Stop giving them keywords and popularity!

By the way, many of the records blown here was only R&B and black music records. I sad "many", didn't said "all".

Sorry, but this kind of manifest is just prejudice. They killed Disco, now they had more than 25 years of House Music... EAT THAT!

My thumbs up is for the historical record, not the riot.

  • GaGa/Bieber/RihannaDemolition Night!

    Bring all and anything related.

Or AT LEAST a Club/House music Demolition Night!

  • @Morahman7vnNo2: Why don't we have a Classic Rock Destruction Night, instead? Bring all of your Beatles, Stones, Elvis, Led Zeppelin, whatever records/CD/tapes and have a huge bonfire!

Now, you wouldn't live that, would you?

  • @Neville6000 I don't listen to Rock.

  • @Morahman7vnNo2: Even if you don't, what you suggested is just racist, sexist (to GLBT people) and ageist (against teenagers.)

  • @Neville6000 How is that? Just because I don't like pop music means all of that? Laughably ridiculous. I don't own any pop, thus I'm a Nazi? You might as well just go ahead and say that. The people 1979 all owned Disco records, until they got sick of the music craze/fad that overtook the decade. If I hate new cheaply produced (and in my opinion) low quality goods of today, does that instantly hate every type of person that does like it?

  • @Neville6000 And for your information, everyone comenting on this video IS THE MINORITY! What is your suggestion that everyone do? Just smile and pretend that they are satisfied with everything that's going on!? Believe or not, every race, sex, GLBT person, AND ESPECIALLY TEENAGERS, don't listen to only whatever is bolstered on the radio 24/7! They listen to whatever they want. So unless you go and and some badly needed diversity to the mainstream cookie-cutter music we have today, I say you--

  • @Morahman7vnNo2: Why not try to SUPPORT the music you like harder, rather than being douches wishing for an event like this to happen again? Better yet, WRITE TO YOUR CONGRESSPERSON/SENATOR and ask the to reinstate the regulation against one company owning every station in one market-that way, the airwaves won't sound the same everywhere?

  • @Neville6000 First, I'm cheap, and I've never bought any piece of new music. Um yeah, that's the point, it's a "wish," that won't come true. It's like the two minutes of hate in 1984, everyone wants, but no one can do anything about it. Write? I live in America, unless it's a million-man-march, not much can be done. The only true way is to spread the truth about the music business and the alternatives to it.

  • @Neville6000 LEAVE EVERY POP HATER ALONE, THEY HAVE A RIGHT TOO!

  • Now we need a "Rap & Hip-Hop" Demolition Night !!

  • @rin3guy YES WE DO!!!!!!!

  • @rin3guy: Or we could have a Classic Rock Demolition Night, and see how you like that.

  • CRYYYYYY.

  • Its not like anyone tied them down and forced them to listen to disco...

  • It sounds like he is saying "Disco Sex!"

  • Anyone want "Justin Bieber Demolition Night" or "Teen-Pop Demolition Night"?

  • @MrBennetzen justin bieber

  • @MrBennetzen YES!

  • @MrBennetzen: Anybody want 'Beatles Demolition Night' or 'Classic Rock Demolition Night'? Right back at you, asshole.

  • @Neville6000 Bieber Sucks!

    Bieber Sucks!

    Bieber Sucks!

    Bieber Sucks!

  • @MrBennetzen:You're a troll

    You're a troll

    You're a troll

    You're a troll

  • That chick in the white shirt in the back is stealing the show

  • KaaaaaaaasssssKaaaaaaaadddeee!!!

  • Check it out guys, disco ain't 100% dead yet. This track came out this year and was successful too. =)

    /watch?v=A5m_MDUCU0M

  • KASKADE SENT ME HERE.

  • @TyroneMorales2002 me too

  • Actually Disco is still alive. In the 80's there was still disco and it has influence in other genres of music. Look at Zapp and Roger<3 Even Daft Punk and many others.

  • @Pooky1991 yeah thats true there is even disco house which is nice

  • Anyone interested in Teen-Pop Demolition Night frm 1998-Present?

  • I was there that night and it was wild....The police were everywhere on horses and running around....fans were on the field and it just got out of hand very quickly. We got up and left as fast as we could because it looked like a riot was starting and I didn't want to be any part of that....

  • Hair Metal demolition night! Or at least Adult Contemporary, I hate Celine Dion...

  • Let's have a Hip hop / Rap Demolition Night!

  • @marcol68 Trust me, that would never work.

Too embedded in the black community.

Rap/Hiphop.. although has crappy music, is embedded HEAVILY in minority in the computer.

Rap demolition night would be an utter fail.

  • @AgrivatedKillah But who are y'all to even call yourselves having a demolition of any form of something culturally related, whether rap, or whatever? You're not gods. Rap music is what kept funk music alive, because really, the destruction of "disco" was really about destroying funk music, or "nigger dance music" - James Brown being the father ..and this is why rap songs heavily sampled James Brown, Parliament Funkadelic, and other funk acts

  • @AgrivatedKillah: It's also racist bullshit from white people that can't deal with the changes in music, so instead of writing to their Congressperson and demanding that Clinton's 1995 bill be changed so that radio stations are more independent, they suggest this bullshit instead.

  • The hot girl loves disco

  • as much as love this memory...disco didnt die..it became dance....and steve dahl simply grew up...but I hope hes still a punk at heart....

  • stupid ass disco freaks, we still laugh at you freaks, the nut hugger pants had us laughing all the time. Dont worry "YOU WILL SURVIVE" LOL

  • @Fockersnextdoor; And how is rock doing these days? Oh yeah-it's fans are still trying to coast on bands like Nickleback instead of elevating better groups from the local underground music scene! 'He who doesn't act, is lost.'

  • such a hot chick !! at the right side of the screen!!!!!

  • what a prick

  • I don't believe that's actually Dahl, I think it's a stunt double. The real Steve Dahl would've cursed out Olbermann and tried to have him fired for daring to make eye contact w/ him through the camera.

  • Steve Dahl must die

  • Disco Rules, Rock Pulls!!!!!

  • Well Rock N Roll Rules, everything else is a wanna-be! Elvis has been dead for 33 years and is still banking major cash, who else can compete?!?

    DonSellsVegas

  • @donsellsvegas: Elvis is still dead, and rock has to find a new way of capturing the public imagination, rather than expect to coast on what Elvis and other classic rockers did before. That's really how you'll beat Justin Bieber & Co. Not by doing bigoted racist and sexist homophobic shit like this 'event'. And, how long will Elvis continue to capture the public?

  • I LOVE DISCO

  • The best part of this video was the girl in the background. However, this video proves that Disco was ALMOST as shitty as Olbermann's ability to interview someone. Thanks, Keith, you're a gem. *dripping sarcasm*

  • Is it just me or does one of the people at :37 look suspiciously like Barry Gibb?

  • If people would channel that kind anger into killing reality shows, the world would be a much better place.

  • I was listening to that in Detoit.

Jimmie Carter and Disco had to go. Olbermann should be next, to celebrate of course. 30+ party.

  • The end of disco in the United States, the beginning of hatred towards all dance music in the United States.

  • @Slurrps Really? Modanna and all of todays autotune shit would have to disagree unfortuntely.

  • @rgreenberg35: Not everything in pop music or music is Autotune, moron.

  • Steve Dahl was a lecherous, fat pig back in those days. This whole incident just caused what The Clash called a White Riot. Much to the discontent of those who would quell the movement, Disco is alive and well and a multi-billion, mulit-culture, international enterprise known today as "Dance Music." Long live Disco!

  • RACIST HOMOPHOBE.

  • I was checking the girl in the background almost the entire time...

  • @rgreenberg35

Punk had coexisted with Disco since the mid 70's and Disco started to burn out around the time Disco started to in 1979,Disco even coexisted with New Wave which was the next mainstream craze of the early 80's ..Disco played itself out as with any fad like Hair Metal of the 1980's played itself out but Grunge helped in late 1991.

  • Middle America always hated disco primarily because disco had a demographic that included blacks, gays, and affluent people. So, ignorant blue collar, Midwestern types took out their hate and did things like this. Back then, if you liked disco, you could be verbally or even physically attacked. Sadly, things haven't changed all that much in Middle America.

  • @VIEWTUBE00000

Middle America is trash yes I agree.

  • @VIEWTUBE00000 oh, so i hate blacks? damn, i should tell all my black co-workers, friends and relatives that we hate black people because we live in "Middle America"

was not aware that hate comes from a geographical location, instead of things like a ignorance and lack of education.

what city exemplifies hatred toward blacks more then CHICAGO(chicago white sox) anyways? ive never seen black people in chicago.

also, wasn't aware that disco was a black genre.

  • @nextbestrockstar: Actually, you hate gays and blacks, as well as Latinos and Latinas who loved to listen to this music then and now, if you supported this event and what it stood for.

  • @VIEWTUBE00000 So why cant we do this to autotune music now(Usher, Bieber, Keisha, Gaga, Chris Brown, Kate Perry)??!!

  • @psychedelicsoul: Because radio then isn't radio now, and any DJ trying to be like Steve Dahl wouldn't get away with it. Do some research into how radio is owned and organized before you put finger to keyboard next time.

  • It wasn't disco that they hated, it was its perceived "gayness". Anyone who didn't put two and two together is kidding themself

  • @neonkandiekid No, it was the music. It sucked!

  • Punk killed Disco...thank god

  • @rgreenberg35: No, it didn't-in the UK, disco killed punk and Two-Tone ska (Johnny Rotten became the lead singer of Public Image Ltd. and embraced dance-Pete Shelly embraced dance and his inner gay man with the song 'Homosapien') New Wave was a synthesis of both punk and disco somewhat, and disco came back through the back door with Thriller, Duran Duran, Culture Club, and others.

  • I said around 1990 the same thing would happen to rap in 4 or 5 years, WRONG, its still here.

  • Wish we had a house musis sucks night here ten years later as this shit has never gone out of fashion in Britain. I fucking hate dance music and the faceless jerks that make it. Long live rock.

  • @Glenn1967ful Aww does your music suck so much that you need to force people to your music genere? Music is a personal preference no matter how much you may hate there are people that enjoy it because they have different taste live with it.

And most popular dance artists are not faceless at all.

Oh and one last word: "watch?v=vw9OpLH8ncM"

  • @ToxeCryz Definitely agree. Everybody has the right to their own tastes in music, whether good or bad.

  • @Glenn1967ful: Then rock has to find a way to reinvent itself, in order to come back (thing is, it NEVER went away and is still here.)

  • Disco music was was class compared to ANY music of today.

The Trammps, Chic, The Fatback Band, The Silver Convention, BT Express - all great bands. Go and listen to them.

  • I was there.........

  • @bears1010 Sweet! That's awesome, that was one of those special moments in history that will never be repeated.

  • Disco did not die. Rock died. Punk died.

  • I wonder why people hated Disco so much. Why was it so important to many people to say that disco sucked. Steve Dahl is such a nerd. I cannot understand such people. Disco music is great I think, why do some people hate this so much. I really wonder.

  • Seems like a lot of the disco sucks crowd were driven by an undercurrent of homophobia. There was the perception that it was 'gay music'.

  • @Anteater22 Perhaps for some, but not for Steve Dahl or his fans. First of all it was a COMEDY piece which has since been extremely over-analyzed; secondly it was less about the music and more about the differences (or perceptions) in what the 'scene' was for each group. As a stereotype (meaning not everyone was that way) the disco scene was viewed as being very superficial and even arrogant. Anyway, it had nothing to do with prejudices based on orientation or race.

  • @emkayenne yea, i dont understand it! Feel free to not like it but why the hatred towards a type of music, pretty pathetic to be honest.

  • @emkayenne Disco Demolition was less about the music and more about the cultural perception of the disco scene. People were just tired of what had become a very commercial 'brand' (for lack of a better word) and the almost snobbish quality (by some, not all) that were into disco. There was a distinct contingent of people around Chicago at the time that really looked down on you if you weren't into disco, and it just got old. Plus, this was a COMEDY piece, not meant to be over-analyzed so much.

  • @emkayenne Steve Dahl had a "disco sucks" night because he got fired from radio station WDAI an old radio station in Chicago about 1977, 78 (not sure of the year) because station changed format to Disco. Dahl did not fit their format. So when he moved to a rock station called WLUP or "The Loop"..He started chanting to his listeners the idea of " Disco Sucks".... And the rest as they say is history...By the way Stern never copied Dahl he just got wilder after witnessing Disco Demolation Night.

  • At least disco went out in style.

  • disco never died, it evolved... guess what people listen to in dance clubs? the sibblings of disco. that idiot failed, disco never died. I don't listen to danse music, but no music deserves distain, just don,t listen to it if you don't like it.

    white american really suck sometimes...

  • @Acadianiste no, DISCO sucks. Mindless, vapid crap music. Why do you bring race into it?

  • @Acadianiste The commercial disco scene died almost overnight after Disco Demoition. Radio stations changed formats within days, record sales dropped dramatically, all verifiable facts. It wasn't about black or white, gay or straight, it was about perception and commercialism. The disco scene was viewed as superficial and elitist. Though not everyone may have been that way in the disco scene that was the popular conception towards the end, it wasn't about the music as much as the perception.

  • disco was for the slim sexy people who had hair who could dance.the haters could not dance was balding and fat. what was bad was the drugs and gay carless sex destroyed it.dimitri from paris brought it back

  • @comptonraven i am slim with a full head of hair. The music was and is CRAP! That's the problem, stupid.

  • Disco Sucks

  • disco is the best sound of ever

  • Why did they have to do that? Disco was awesome!

  • A movie? Sure, why not. Jack Black as Steve would be great... better yet, Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Nix on the Louie Anderson suggestion, not edgy enough to play Stever.

  • The white establishment was having their livelihood threatened by disco, which was basically black.

  • @kayumochi Disco Demolition and Steve Dahl didn't even consider that aspect of it. It was all about the differences in the scene itself, not race or other prejudices. Many people saw disco as just being superficial, commercial crap with a snobby scene, and in some cases that was true. But Disco Demolition wasn't about race or prejudice, and it was actually a COMEDY bit because Steve left a station that changed over to disco. Today it gets over-analyzed as being more than it really was back then.

  • They should do this is rap now. Rap demolition night, when's it gonna happen?!

  • @JohnnyLovelyOfficial: About the same time that 'Heavy Metal Demolition Night' and 'Classic Rock Demolition Night' happens.

  • That old fatass probably went to a disco club and was turned down by all the beautiful girls, thats why he did that lol what a looser, hey fatass guess what disco is still alive in all different flavors of it so suck on that fatboy and take it to your grave.

  • "You can't win, old man. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."

  • Demolition Nights. Rap and Pop would come out unscathed. The fact that a bunch of random yahoos decided to burn some records that they hate isn't necessarily close-minded. Your idiotic assumption that hating disco = trying to shut it down is more close-minded.

    Nice try dumbass.

  • The way I see it, Disco Demolition Night was the very 1st evidence in revealing just how ignorant and completely close minded rock fans are. After this event, in the 80s came glam metal, which many rock/metal fans deemed as "poseurish", then in the late 90s-early 00s with pop and boybands dominating the airwaves, rock/metal fans yet again complained and created anti sites against pop, currently rap is now being targeted as well as emo and the Disney channel. To rock/metal fans, if it isn't

  • Rock or metal or "tr00", the masses within rock/metal are going to try and take it down. Complete ignorance at its finest.

  • Oh my god, you fucking moron. Do you not see the mind-melting irony of this kind of rant against "close-mindedness" when it comes from someone who's username is "I HATE ROCK N METAL".

Give me a break. It's not as though rock n roll fans broke into disco fans' houses, stole their records and burned them right there in front of them. You seem to be perfectly content to loudly proclaim your hatred of rock/metal. I personally have no beef with that because everyone loves and hates different music,

  • LOL you judging me by my username is like judging someone by their skin color. It's just a username drama queen, that doesn't represent everything about me, if you at least read my profile description you could've gotten a better understanding of certain things related to what I think about rock/metal, but instead you chose to judge by name, typical rock fan.

  • If you recall, I didn't actually care what your feelings about rock were. What I found funny was that you saw nothing wrong with negatively judging music with your own set of personal standards (fine by me) but then lost your shit when rock fans did the same towards disco. Disco sucks and it's so funny that you called all rock fans ignorant yet failed to see the irony that such a statement makes you ignorant by your own definition. (By the way, I'm not really much of a rock fan, lol!)

  • In all honesty, I don't care if someone doesn't like a particular genre, as you stated everyone loves and hates different music. The only problem with Disco Demolition Night was they took it too far, and the rap/pop/emo hating on youtube is no different. But whatever, I can respect the rock fans that are mature enough to be open minded, but the idiots displayed in this event definitely deserves no respect.

  • Alright well I guess this isn't going to go anywhere, because not only were you dumb enough to pretend like emo, rap, and pop were somehow under cultural threat despite being more popular, but now you're saying that a bunch of kids on YouTube making videos is no different than an actual RIOT that took place in a stadium in 1979? That's even dumber than your original ironic statements about rock fans. You're clearly just having some major butthurt b/c someone, somewhere dissed your favorite band.

  • Search for "anti rap" or "anti emo" and see how many videos have titles like "destroy rap" or "kill all emos", no different than when rioters at Disco Demolition night started setting fires and completely destroyed the stadium. There's a difference between having an opinion/dislike for another genre and handling it in a mature way, and the other just being an absolute basket case causing mayhem or making threats on a genre, and most rock fans choose to cause mayhem, rebel, and make threats.

  • You're an idiot. You can't judge people by the type of music they listen to! Unless, of course, it's some rap or emo or whatever garbage is popular now. They shouldn't even count that as music, though. And anyway, most intelligent people like rock music.

  • First off how are you going to tell me not to judge people by the type of music they listen to and in return say it's ok to do it to rap, emo, and anything else that's popular at the moment? HYPOCRITE MUCH? And most importantly, it seems like it's mostly and mainly rock fans who are going around judging others, not vice versa. Now I'm not saying that there aren't assholes in other genres, but 90% of it mainly exist in the rock community, NO LIE.

  • What are you talking about? Almost everybody judges people, that has nothing to do with what type of music you listen to. And you are judging people, too, you know.

  • @IHATEROCKNMETAL dude i respect your opinions, but i honestly believe that people who listen to more mainstream music are more likely to judge other types of music. i respect all genres, even though metal is my fav. and most kids who listen to rap or pop wont listen to my music for more than a few seconds, while i'll listen to their whole song. i still respect your opinion completely

  • so whatever. Yet when you see rock fans doing the same against disco, you freak out and assume that we hate everything that isn't rock. Your comment makes no sense. Disco Demolition Night was an expression of how people with a taste for rock n roll hated the tacky polished crap that is disco and so they burned some fucking records and made it into an awesome display. That's not shutting you down. These days, rap and pop make so much money that it wouldnt matter if we had a thousand Rap/Pop

  • The Disco Demolition event spawned the existence of rock fans continuous rebellion against any genre that isn't rock or metal or these days "tr00" and the goal of trying to force that genre out of the mainstream so rock and metal can retake its throne, that's the mentality that rock fans had back then and that's the same mentality they still have now. Sure they didn't shut down disco completely, but that was what they were gunning for, and the same is now happening with pop, rap, and emo.

  • "Oh whoa is me...poor pop, rap, and emo." I mean, shit...they're only multimillion dollar genres that have become vastly more popular than rock/metal in today's music market. How can you seriously think that rock fans represent any kind of a threat when "tr00" (your word, not mine) rock music today represents a tiny fraction of the current music culture. If rock fans really were hell-bent on marginalizing other forms of music (they're not) then boy they sure haven't made much of a dent so far.

  • LOL perhaps you are misinterpreting what I'm trying to say here, no surprise. I never said rock fans were a threat to any of the "multimillion dollar genres that have become vastly popular", all I'm saying is much like what is represented in this video, MOST rock fans are quick to rebel against a genre gaining massive commercial success that isn't rock or metal because they (the rock fans) are the ones who feel threatened that something that isn't rock/metal/or "real" is getting more attention.

  • when do we start the Reggaeton Demolition Night?

  • @Ekorre79: When we have 'Hard Rock Demolition Night' and 'Classic Rock Demolition Night', we'll have what you want to see.

  • @Neville6000 Loser!

  • @MrBennetzen: Coming from you, that's a compliment...at least I'm not a loser wishing that Justin Bieber and Co. would die in a plane crash and never come back. Try to work for the goal of rock coming back, instead of being a childish baby whining because his diaper's not been changed.

  • @Neville6000 Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

  • Dahl's the best

  • they should do a disney demolishin

  • or just Pop demolition night in general. bring taylor swift, miley cyrus, jonas brothers, sean kingston, and soulja boy records to the game and LIGHT IT UP. Music needs to be revitalized, and if this is what it takes...

  • @macaronilettuce

We need to bring Disco back. Burn the rap, burn the Disney-pop, burn the Lady Gaga and give out classic Disco albums at the event. That'd be awesome

  • French House music is the closest we will get @ the moment... One day, Disco will come back... =D

  • @theSuperMetroid: That would be just as stupid and thoughtless as Disco Demolition Night was. Not to mention nasty to kids and younger people. Do you really want to make young girls out to be your enemy and destroy their self-esteem? Just to make you feel better?

  • Disco sucks!

  • I never bash anyone for their taste in music. If you like music in any form, it's a good thing. I never liked opera or disco, but both disco and opera are better than nothing at all in most cases. Maybe :D

  • As far as Disco vs. the rock, Hip hop, RAP etc., nothing to do with race.BUT, much to do with class within people of all races such as Lou Rawls, and that dissapeared.Replaced by street thugs that should be exterminated like street rats. And that applies to all thugs of all races. Thugs you will also gave your day as Disco did, except that if you are lucky to survive your children will at you with utter disgust because you are less than animals.

  • Just like the Nazis burning books in the late 1930`s. America the land of the not so free...

  • You probably just made the most ignorant comment ever!!!

  • yeah you're a dumbass

  • Is there a way to have a Keith Olbermann demolition night?

  • Well, did you see them demolishing Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder records? How about Little Richard, Funkadelic, or JIMI HENDRIX. Disgruntled disco fans like to play the race card because they can't argue with the fact that, by 1979, disco had become a parody of it's former self, and people were sick of the monotonous, repetitive, and BORING bullshit. Not to mention the fact that it revolved around a non-musical aspect, DANCE. It had very little staying power no matter how much you like it.

  • Interesting enough, R&B and RAP are the most listen to music genres today. RAP Music has achieved international, multi national acceptance more than any other music form in existence. You have more nationalities Rapping than you do Rock. Although Black people created the original Rock music, (Little Richard), Rock during the 70s and 80s and less in the 90s and now turned into a racially motivated culture. By the way, I hate RAP music. But it's the facts weather you like it or not.

  • Hip hop and rock both have international success, and no, I don't believe you are correct that hip hop is bigger than rock, there's too much evidence against that. It's pretty equal in America, but in Europe (except maybe Germany), Canada, and Japan rock is still noticeably more popular. I don't mind a lot of hip hop, as long as it has substance and meaning (KRS-One), but it lacks the power and variability rock and metal has. But, the modern mainstream of both sucks balls, go underground.

  • in 1979? gay culture? you watched that one vh1 special written by a guy who worked for disco DAI in chcago. It was about disco and how its sucked it was a bunch of rock and roll stoned teenagers nothing more.

  • Oh shut up...so the Ritchie Family, and the Bee Gees were black? You are a fucking moron.

  • What an interesting time...personally I would gladly show up for a Hip Hop Demolition Night but I guess taste in music is subjective. Maybe if people at least pulled up their fucking pants I wouldn't hate the culture and music so much.

  • Please don't lump the hip-hop "culture" all together in that boat. I can personally say that in the hip-hop culture, I can't think of any sagging pants I've seen. Unfortunately, all you ever hear and see are the things played on the radio and television. Sad. And, I know a lot of hip-hop culture would agree with you about a demolition night for that. (DJ+ B-boy/girl + MCs + Graffiti + Knowledge) = Hip-Hop Culture

    Hip-hop cultre ≠ Rap

As a matter of fact, Hip-Hop Cultre > Rap

    Peace & Much Love

  • Thank god Disco died, now metal is the most successful genre ever!

  • COUNTRY MUSIC SUCKS!

  • I'm not sure if I paid attention to one thing the guy said. I was too busy checking out the hot girl in the white shirt and jeans behind him. Mmmmmm... what a sweet ass.
