He's obviously some poor asain kid who has been forced to play and been overworked by his parents. He doesn't actually like it and plays without real emotion. He will drop it the second he can.
Oh come on... if he can play it why not??? The beauty of the music will continue to come through in his playing as he grows older. Cheers to the young gentleman. Monstrous talent!!
I have mixed feelings about children so young taking on these monster concertos, he may have all the technical elements but in terms of emotion and really conveying what this peice is all about, he dosen't deliver.
hmm.. depends on how it is taught.. Heifetz played Mendelsohn before he was 10..
Think about it - he will have Bruch under his fingers and when he is older he can come back to it and he can solely work on musical elements of this piece...
But taking up a musical instrument at such a young age is certainly better than parking your brain in neutral by sitting in front of a TV screen all day long, playing video games or watching movies. Music programs are a great way to stimulate intellectual growth.
On the other hand, these difficult pieces were composed for someone with an emotional maturity and at 12 very few people have the emotional maturity that it takes to convey all of the composer's feelings.
I'm impressed...he plays this as well as I did when I was 17. Better intonation and emotion come with time, but his rhythm is amazingly steady, and he has very warm vibrato.
He's not bad! I don't understand how you guys think he is bad! If you don't have anything good to say, then don't fricking post! Duuuhhh! You learn that in Kindergarten. Anyways, Good job!
the violin has got to be parallel to the floor. his posture is horrible, that's why it sounds like that sometimes. the vibrato's also not that well. his sound performance is too tiny for such a concert.

OMG....I hope nobody has ever committed suicide as a result of getting stressed over learning a musical instrument.

he is young, near perfect tune and rhythm, interpretation? no problem he will get his passion soon or later, plenty of time left.

He will appreciate all your inputs. Your encouragement or criticics will help him grow.

The sound itself is OKAY, but he plays with no emotion and that is what makes music enjoyable to watch.

SO WHAT!! He was 12!! Goodness...and I'm doing this for my college auditions...His intonation is better than our concertmaster's...

Kevin oh my good golly gosh I met you at summer camp. You are soo cool.

i like yur style of playing...
but i think you should use your wrist and fingers a little more on your bow hand,
my arm would be a little tired after just that movement itself :P

Wow, talk about a great start to a music career!
I'm playing this concerto at the moment, but I'm 7 years older.
Keep up the great work! Too bad the recording wasn't up to par, it really doesn't do your playing justice! It sounds great.
