  • Amazing

  • man you can see every thing move

  • AMAZING

  • OMG i was in Farmers, Riccarton mall wen dat happned it was scary ae

  • Poor chicken ran from his hiding spot...

  • disturbed the chook....

  • Swear Jar.. Ill waiver it, this time

  • i missed it, i was driving home from Eastgate, do remember thinking "have i got a flatty".

  • ''Sh*t''- an appropriate comment I must say!

  • I am so glad I wasn't there, I was on holiday in Clyde (Alexandra). I was so scared when I saw it on the news! I felt all the other big ones though! January 20th 6:03 am 5.1. 22nd Feb 12:51 6.3 13th June 1:00pm 5.7 2:20pm 6.3

  • I was at work for that one. It was short but very sharp. And you've captured that terrible sound well (the low rumble, made me shake just listening to it, too many memories). I think your "comment" at the end reflects what we all felt!

  • Amazing outside veiw of how the ground moves

  • That's what I remember about the big aftershock at about 4:30 on Feb 22, is the trees were shivering really violently it was freaky.

  • i hate aftershocks!..

  • Wow what an amazing clip. It really captures the ground acceleration really well. Very much what my experience was like that day as I was outside in garden too...and my poor 4 year old was about 7ft up a tree in a tree hut!

  • I remember this one like it was yesterday !

  • "....ssssshit!"

  • What about the 5.3M This week? At 3am?

  • @OoTnCoO it was fine. i woke up but it wasn't too bad. you know, compared to the others we've felt.

  • fuck that looks nasty. not as bad as that we were. what suburb is this??

  • how did u get thaton camera lol

  • You saying shit at the end made me laugh, then i felt guilty D:

  • Carlisse de Tabarnak, this is one of the most down to earth pieces of footage of Christchurch's Earthquakes I've found.

  • 0:12 s**t Omg!

  • Comment removed

  • Is this the one that happened at 10.30am?

  • I couldnt help but laugh at this........

  • whoa! nasty!

  • reminds me of El Salvador earthquakes (where I live)....

  • lol that chiken is like im getting the fuck out of here

  • That was amazing. How unbelievable the earth is.

  • This is one of the best videos so far, thanks for posting.

I want to know as much as possible about what it is like to prepare my family, being on the West Coast we always thought this would be something we would have to deal with, not you guys in Christchurch!!

    Hang in there guys.

  • It even includes the obligatory "Shit!" in it. People who live in parts of the world that don't have earthquakes should know that. Whenever an earthquake hits, someone must call out "shit!"

  • Excellent video--it shows the motion of everything most clearly! I live in SoCal, and have lived through dozens of EQs. This gives a very good idea of what it is like to experience an EQ. I will show my friends from the easter U.S. this video, it gives a good impression of the experience. Well done.

  • Great video! I'm born and raised in Oakland California, when I meet people who are not from here, I can tell them what a quake feels like but what's difficult to translate is the SOUND a quake makes, and this clip captures that...good job!

  • @cherokeeguy9 I was born and raised in Oakland too

  • Epic .... ' shit " at the end hahah lol

  • Very clear picture! Awesome! However, I do hope you and your's are okay! Do you have any video of the 2-28-2011?

  • little ones like these feel pretty cool

  • Great vid!

  • nice hen

  • lol 4 the chicken

  • yeah its no over yet either. We are still expecting more this year. Im actually wondering if its a good idea to just all pack up and build a new city somewhere else lol.

  • cool video..nice to watch thanks

  • Good grief Charley Brown that was big!

  • CHCH earthquake happened 9 hours Ago I saw a church collapse Right infront of my eyes.

  • i feel so ashamed to ask, but do you happen to have a video of the most recent 6.3 quake?

  • It was a life chaning (im from australia so never felt an earthquake) I was one of the many people coming into christchurch from the the cruise liner and was in the Balantynes building when the 4.9 hit and yeh its scary to say the least

  • you can actually see the ground ,ove in this one

  • wow scary the 1st one would of been horrible xoxoxox

  • Kinda scary when the ground your standing on is shifting to another position.....

  • 4.4 at 2:12am 21/1/2011

  • To everyone in Christchurch and surrounding areas. You poor things - another today. My heart goes out to you at the moment - kia kaha - cheers from the Hibiscus Coast, Auckland.

  • Would hishave been cool to hear/see your reactions after. Either way, bloody intense. We are in Timaru and haven't really felt them bad down here...but tend to feel a little something at anything over 4.5

  • OMG YESS I GOT ONE ON CAMERA TODAY!!! IT'S IN MY VIDEOS YAAY!

  • Early morning today... didn't happen to get that one on camera did you?

  • When i was in my house when this aftershock hit I didn't think that it would of been that big and bad ! Great Footage :D

  • Ha, riccarton mall got evacuated, I was standing right outside when it happened

  • @ItsEscapedYourWorld In the Boxing Day quake? I work there and rang Mall Managment, they said there we weren't evacuating.

  • @HedebBast Haha, my bad, I just supposed so 'cause everyone ran outta the mall haha

  • @ItsEscapedYourWorld No probs ;)

  • Yeah I was in a 838 last year here in Chile. I lived 4 earthquekes in my life.

  • @f14dsupertomcat1

cant imagine an 8.38, 7.1 was bad enough for us! Your vid says it all...

  • @bugsandal actually it was an 8.8, but it was by far the worst experience of my life... I just hope that you and your family are OK

  • @f14dsupertomcat1 . The 27F (February 27th) as we call it here in Chile was 8.8 !!! And about 2 weeks ago we had a 6.9 with several aftershocks, just about 60 kms from Concepcion where I live. Amazingly no injuries occurred or buildings collapsed. Hope people in beautiful NZ have learned to live with this powerful language the Earth talked to us.

  • @f14dsupertomcat1 LOL I'm chilean too! Soy chileno como tu solo que vivi un terremoto, el del 2010

  • ummm what were you originally making a video of???

  • @p0kem0npearlmaster there was a aftershock at 10am so if there was 1 it probaly means there are going to be others.. so i guess maybe just waiting for 1 to happen

  • fuck, that was huge!

  • How did you get the camera to stay still? obviously not a tripod?

  • @Learn2saillyttelton

just happened to have it sitting on the bbq, while getting ready for other things

  • @Learn2saillyttelton so the bbq was probably on wheels meaning that while the earth was shaking, the bbq would remain still

  • That's the reason, very strong.

  • it was a MAG 4.9, but only 5k deep and right underneath us

  • it was a 4.9, 5 k deep

  • Which magnitude was it? I think it was 6.8 or 6.9 Richter and with an intensity of 7 Mercalli. Really strong this aftershock.

  • @f14dsupertomcat1 ummm no it was only a 4.9 where did you get that from obviously you have never been in a 7.1

  • I actually experienced this earthquake while visiting my son in Christchurch, I found it absolutely terrifying and I admire all of you who are going through this awful thing xxx

  • wowziz haha

  • my house sounded the same when that 4.9 hit everything went flying including my brand new tv that smashed oh and some of my ceiling in my kitchen came down was very scary and some bricks in my chimney came down inside it and dusted me out of my lounge dam quakes i hate these big ones hope you house and stuff came out ok

  • Run chicken RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • CRIKEY!

  • I was in Auckland visiting family on boxing day, now I can see how bad it was! Scary stuff!

  • Nice vid.

The quakes have been fun, it will suck when they finish.

  • G.A.Y G:gay A:amature Y:yell

  • lool

  • earthquake cam

  • i Agree there are some good people deez wayz tho..

  • Best footage of a real Tremor, actual ground movement and the noise it makes!

  • lol run chicken run lol, was quite intense, i was at work that day and we had stuff falling everywhere and had the sprinkler system pipes burst, flooded the whole store! glad some1 got it on video as its hard to explain to ppl wat it is really like, even tho its short, its scary as...

  • @xxluvzitxx

we agree - its hard to explain to ppl!

  • lol run chicken run lol

  • scrambled eggs

  • wow the movement, flet it in Wigram, Glade someone captured it top effort

  • Wow o.O

  • Excellent to see and to show how, it really is, every thing that moves in an earthquake...

Love the chicken in the background.....lol

I think this video will be really popular....

  • This is a FANtastic wee clip of an earthquake! Brief and to the point, makes great repeat viewing/listening (fab that you can hear what its like to be in a quake) over and over. This is what i want to see when i google for earhtquake footage...actual footage, and so clear too. Well done, great job but rather you than me!! I will be sending a link to this to many people such as friends overseas who have never experienced a quake.

  • i've watched this video over and over, i can't stop watching the chicken lol

  • gahh i was in the palms when that hit, holy shit it was scary >.< didnt even get to finish my mcdonalds hot cakes dammit !!!

  • This shit is crazy, I don't know who the hell

would want to still be living there.

  • defenatly set up to catch an aftershock, as there has been thousands of them in chch

  • @lobesmc ithere have been about 5023 aftershocks so far.

  • that must get annoying after a while

  • @sambrown18 it does! it was shit scary at frist but now its just annoying

  • @sambrown18 you have no idea...

  • @sambrown18 tell me about it >.<

  • lol the chicken shit itself

  • @Bradslant37 The chicken wasnt the only living thing. O.o

  • Nice catch!

  • lol i hate when this happens *facepalm* and i was just getting used to not having aftershocks too.....

  • were you expecting an aftershock to happen??? just asking because i find it ironic that the camera was running in the spot it was in unattended

  • @KuntOut Security cam, or purposely set up to record aftershocks..?

  • @KuntOut well Christchurch's population is over 1 you know..

  • @KuntOut Lots of people are doing this. There was a 4.4 aftershock in the early hours of boxing day so they may have thought there was going to be another big one. Which there was. And yes, there are going to be aftershocks for up to a year. Theres been well over 4,000 aftershocks already.

  • @KuntOut christchurch have been getting on average 10 aftershocks a day, sure people have set up cams to film them

The day this one hit we had 32 and they were all centered in the city centered as opposed to just outta town where the rest have been, they were massive and huge. This person obviously started filming after we had a big one boxing day morning. At one point that day there was only 10 mins between each aftershock

We wake up in the morning now expecting an after shock to happen.

  • that was awsome i didnt even feel that in darfield

  • aww i missed this one, and it looked fun too

  • This bastard woke me up.

  • 0:07 hahahahaha

Can't bear this anymore.! New Plymouth were coming home.!

  • i was in Harvey Norman at the time, old 3 story building shock like hell, power went out things breaking people screaming, but what can we do? Nothing really. At least no one has died (in any of the Quakes)

  • Sounds like you'd relaxed, and put your stuff back on the shelves. Ours are still sitting on the floor from the 7.1 Thanks for posting, as we were on the Blenheim Rd o/bridge, and only felt a wobble in the car.

  • Great Footage. Really shows the power of the quakes

Oh and me and my sister had made a gingerbread house.. and on boxing day the roof had seperated and cracked..

  • The chicken was like WTF!!!! xD

  • I would have slept though the big one but my friend woke me up... I haven't woken up to any of the other after shocks at night either. I don't care about them anymore, whats the worst that could happen?

  • woah , thats pretty kewl.like it looks fkkn epic !
