  • Damn you're good!

    Congrats!

    Ed

  • hey did your feet ever hurt from jumping on the concrete cuz i jumped on my garage floor for about a week and a half now and the middle of my foot has really been hurting

  • @00TheBean1 That is normal for all beginners. The arches of your feet are going to hurt for the next 2 weeks until they get used to always being on your tippy toes.

  • At first I knew u were a boxer by the shoes then I looked at the shirt and I was like he has to be. Then I read the description and that backs it up........ I am a muay Thai guy my self but if I couldnt do that I would probably go into kick boxing or boxing. It's awesome u a trainer now best of luck

  • hey nice video .. you are really good!!!

i just bought the buddylee aero speed jump rope

recieved it in mail today from amazon and the rope is kind of folded from the packaging, what would be teh best way

    to straighten it?

also, how do i put the rope inside to the screw adapter thing? i am having hard time turning the rope in clockwise, do we use pliers? Also does the rope need to be counter clockwise in all the way? please let me know becuase i really want to jump soon! Thanksss

  • this vid is hot!

  • I watch this everyday, thinking to myself.... One day.

  • Wow respect...u are the Ropefather !...I wanna jump rope like u 1day !

  • love it.. its bout to be my new shit!... thanks Greg!!!

  • idk why but i cant jump rope foward. i have to swing it the other way. :/

  • I have been roping for some time now and have seen more than a few videos on here. You are by far one of the top 3-5 videos I've seen. Keep it up man ur a BEAST!!!!!!

  • good stuff bro. I need this rope. haha

cause the beaded ones just aren't as quick

but instructional videos would be great

  • woah... that's AWESOME! O.O;

  • Great video's Out of all the videos on you tube yours is by far the best. It would be great if you could put something together so people who wanted to learn to jump rope could be inspired by someone teaching them who had the skill and techenique like you have. Keep up the good work and please put out more videos if you have the time and maybe a few lessons for beginners.

  • for those asking how long to get to this level. i reckon a few months if you were training and practising for 30 mins 5 times a week. approach it as a skill tho.

most boxers dont become better skippers because they dont practice learning new skills they master a couple of steps then stop.

  • Starting from scratch what would be the average time frame to get to that skill level? Months or years if this was practiced 3-5 times a week?

  • @Venomized

Its hard to say because everyone is different, but if you practiced for 20-25min everyday, maybe in a year.

  • @Venomized He's right, it depends on people and what skills u begin at. Personally, I've been rope jumpin for bout 2-3 months, I guess if you learn fast like me and do bout 1hr a day (with some break) it's possible to reach this level in 3month, but with alot of dedication and effort, personnaly I love so much Rope Jumping as I am a Boxer, it's one of my fav warm up, it's really awesome for Cardio too.

  • I saw your videos on another site where a guy talk about jump roping, he was very posiive about you. Can you make videos and teach us the step?

  • @lilgirlsj

Yah, some time over the summer I plan on making a new updated video with some instruction too. btw could you message me the site you were talking about? im curious to see it.

  • Very cool man... Great technique.

  • great video jump ropeing is good for you espicaliy if your a fighter always keep a jump rope withe you its the number one tool to keep you moving fast and keep you from getting tired in a fight.

  • I skip rope everyday using an Everlast Jumping rope but I think it's impossible for me to skip like you using my rope

  • @23bilog23

Its amazing how much having the right rope helps in the beginning. Once you get good tho later it doesnt matter as much.

  • Great u train good tell me please i jumprope also almost every day because of my muay thai training what material is your rope? steel? or leather? or plastic?

  • @Moedaprince

Sry to reply so late but Ive been busy. Its a Buddy Lee Aero Speed rope, its made of plastic.

  • is this an actual sport? Im bein serious??!! Its freakin neat I wish i could do it hahhh!!:]

  • what is the name of the rope your are using? is it one of buddy lee's ropes?

  • Nice going, those leg weights looked awkward :P

  • You're so fricken good man! Are you a boxer?

  • Name of the song pls??

  • nice work mate!!! do you recommend a leather weighted rope by any chance??? ive jus orderd 1 !! appreciated if you have time to reply thanx luke

  • haha honestly iv never used a leather rope, but i heard there just as good if you can find the right one. make sure its good quality

  • @gregsid I sent you a msg.. pls reply :)

  • cute

  • gregsid, your Buddy Lee cord still haven't snapped yet?

  • nope, its still holding strong

  • How many months already? I'm trying to figure out why mines thins out in the middle where it hits the ground. Is that cement floor you're jumping on?

  • Its the same rope Ive been using for over 6-7 years and I jump on both cement and tile and everything really.

Your probably letting the rope hit the ground to hard, the rope is only supposed to barley skim the ground as you jump.

  • 6-7 years, with the Aero Speed tube cord, right? Or is it a different cord? I've been trying not to let it hit the ground too hard but the cord hits the bottom of my feet and messes me up if I do.

  • I duno wat the name of the tube is, but its the same cord that came with the rope. Also the shoes u wear might have to do with it hitting your feet, sneakers are not recommended for jumping rope. If you can get your hands on some cheap wrestling shoes or boxing shoes, that would solve the problem. I bought mine for $10 in a throwaway bin at a sports store 8 years ago and there still in great shape.

  • Yeah it's the black tube cord. I think maybe because I soaked it in boiled water to straighten the cord causing it to become fragile and weak. When you jump, how hard do you let the rope hit the ground? I've seen some people let their rope hit the ground hard.

  • yah i never boiled it, the best way to straighten it is just to hang it to a hook everytime your done. and I only just barley let it skim the ground.

  • 6-7 years? my cord already worn out mostly in the middle from only 14 months so i dont think 6-7 years your rope last unless your jumping very seldom?

  • i jumprope almost everyday and its lasted me 5 years before my rope snapped for the first time

  • yes i know the rope pretty well the center part of the rope is the one that worns out quickly and you notice that this part is thinner than the side part if you use it for a long time i usually change chords within 1-2 years.

  • damn ur hella good

  • nice freaking job! I added rope to my training about 6 months ago and am nowhere near that skill level... in fact, no comparison

  • perplexing how you never get whipped swinging the rope like that!!!

    SICK!!

  • when did you start skipping rope

  • when i started boxing about 7-8 years ago

  • whats the name of this song?

  • hmmm speed ropes i know how much that thing hurts when it hits hehe nice jumpin

  • @AnimeMangaKing

You got skills, how long you been jumping fro?

  • man, which rope do u use and which the size?

  • Comment removed

  • Dude that's actually really really impressive haha.

  • Lol

  • Does anyone know if the Buddy Lee Hyperformance speed rope is good?

  • holy hell dude 8 yr i wanna get in to mma but right now no money im training at home tho but nice keep on ko..ing ppl

  • nice videos and moves lol do u do any combat sports like mma or boxing???....

  • boxing for 8 years

  • Is that the aero speed jump rope?

  • Dude your huge for a WW, how tall are you?

  • 5'11

  • Awesome work!

would be great to have some slow motion clips next time so we can figure out some of those moves!

  • dude does jumping rope help with your vertical jump?

  • It deffintly won't hurt. It works alot at strengthening the calfs, but also works a bit on the hams and quads.

  • Right on dude! I've been jumping rope for a wk now and i love it, i'm getting better everyday. Not to your level by any means but I will get there. I bought Buddy Lee's jump rope book then started looking on youtube. Keep it up dude!

  • 3:05 didnt your arms hurt like all from that

  • great job!

have thought of doing a jumping rope record?

  • ok thanks amigo ;-)

  • hello

could you tell me, which kind of rope do you use on this video ?

thanks and sorry for my english :-p

  • Buddy Lee Aero Speed Rope is in the description

  • alright thanks bro

  • where can you get a 50 pound vest at?ive been working out getting ready for a cpat test and ive been jumping rope an hour a day have blacked out only once so far.

  • You can find them anywhere, Sporting Goods store got them or you can just find them online and buyem

  • walmart

  • No! Do not use those kind of shoes unless you are skipping in the ring. I found the best place to do it though is the tenis court!

  • im gna try tht

  • hey i play basketball and can almost dunk... can jump roping help me jump higher

  • It won't make any noticeable difference, but i will make your calves much stronger and since your always on the balls of your feet while jumping rope, it may also increase your ability to push off the group while jumping.

But from what I've heard, the best way to increasing jump height, is to simply jump. If you look around the web, there are a ton of jumping exercises.

  • alright thanks good luck with your boxing to

  • excellent work!!! what is a good starting jump rope to buy?

  • Dude, first of all thanks for this vid, it inspired me to get my first buddy lee aero jumproe and i've never looked back. But could u answer one question? I've been boxing for two years and use adidas tygun boots. are these safe to wear while jumping rope as i've noticed your wearing boxing boots. Thanks again

  • I'm actually wearing a $5 pair of wrestling shoes I grab at a throw away bin at a sporting good store. I've been using them for the past 8 years and they still work great for me.

  • Greg, thanks man - keep it up. I'm 46, was hit by a car in 2007, I've recovered using the rope, I'm up ing my game with you. Next year, look out for me. tri4evar

  • i have a few questions, im a muay thai and jiu jutsu practicioner and does using rope help me increase my body's resistance against different blows, will it help "solidify" my body

  • Jumping Rope when used right can help increase you cores strength. But the best way to help resist blows, at least in terms of Boxing, is to actually take them. One technique I use is to repeatedly slam a medicine ball into various areas of my body.

  • Ur video seems much better when compared to ross' training... I am very good at boxing and not so good at rope jumping ;) and i can say u are much more relaxed than ross which is very important for martial arts... If u box the way u jump rope u own then :D

  • Where are you!!?? How about a new video? You rock the jump rope!

  • Might make a 3rd and final one soon. Maybe over the winter when I'm not so busy.

  • cool and hes doin it a little slow because its just training when ur in a competition then u have t go REALLY fast(i tryed to beat the world record i only needed a couple more min till two hours but then i blow it :(:(:(:( stil awesome vid :)

  • Could someone tell what the soundtrack song in this video is? nice work!! mm

  • If u wait till the end of the video it tells u.

Either way, the song is "I'm Serious - By T.I. ft Benie Man"

  • Greg you are on point. I really got serious on jumping rope about a month ago just to do it between sets. I was surprized that after I learned the timing how easy it is to do tricks once you figure it out. I love do a criss cross then a double followed by swinging the rope on the side. I don't know how you dod your count but I always jump on a four count and then speed it up. Nice shit I also jumped with a 20 vest that is the shit.

  • what kind of rope are your using? Nice skipping.

  • gregsid i finially got down the criss cross with sprints down. your video helped a lot. i'm going to work on my double unders then double unders with a criss cross. took me some time to get it down but it was worth it

  • nice man, keep it up

  • pretty cool..

  • nice man, I need to hook myself up with some weighted gear.

  • pretty awesome. what is the song that was in your original jump rope video? I want to know because I heard it in a southpark episode and would love to have it on my ipod. thanks

  • It's called Live to Win, by Paul Stanley

  • watch the whole video.

  • jolly good

  • dude - unreal. what kind of rope do you use??

  • You're awesome! Raised in the ghetto, I've been a natural jumper since I was a kid. But you have skills.

  • wow i just started jump roping cuase of my mma class but i never do never that...sweet

  • agreed...recently started footwork and rythem/timing drills for wing chun training works soo smooth, now i just gotta improve, relax and flow with things

  • wing chun was the style bruce lee study before he started Jeet Kune Do?

  • Yes, other than application and philosophy, JKD took most if not all wing chun, used it as a core to an open-minded platform..if that makes sense

  • at one point i was planing to study wing chun, but i couldn't decide make up my mind then i got in jkd and that teacher sucked!! so after about 7 different styles i ended up with mma but what do you feel about wing chun do you recommend it?

  • ahh yeah, these days there are 30+ styles of JKD most from bs made up instructors seeing as how it started as the style with no style..as for wing chun it's a differant ball game from MMA because it is a self defence art taught to many forms/levels of military or special forces..it aims to end a confrontation as quickly and effectivly as possible, highly recommended and for more views of good wing chun...any bourne movie would do. Highly recommend it easy to learn and pick up.

  • you speak so highly on wing chun i may give it a shot. in ny i only found on school for it and it was a traditional but once a week so i didnt sing up for it. i took ninjitsu instead and man did that sucked... then aki-Jujutsu which was good till...stuff happened...sigh and now im in mma but i really dont like it so im see if i can take a wing chun class

  • ahh...the thing about wing chun is it's designed to be easy to use and picked up quickly but it does take some time to become highly proficient at...

  • ok i may try it and take your word on it...thanks

  • I have an aero speed jumprope to but it was torn luckily i have another one but im here to ask how can i avoid that

  • not sure really, ive been using my rope for almost 2 years now and have had no problems. how did that rope break exactly?

  • i think the length was the issue because it usually hits the floor and it was torn after 10-20 cross

  • its supposed to be long enough to it just skims the surface of the ground, if it was slapping hard then that might have done it.

  • i see thanks!

  • yo man can u tell me how u made your rope long enouph for u, i have to put knots in mine!.....nice vid,

  • damn you're good

  • outstanding! propers and respect, man!

  • can i go this fast with a weighted rope?

  • how do you know he's not maintaining a weight for boxing? why do people like you always give bullshit advice? i rekon, by the looks of him, he knows what a good diet is! chump!

  • Damn ur good

  • all I can say is gah damn

  • ure good man,

  • its kwl

  • Pro foot work, respect

  • very nice. you definitely have skills on the rope. do you box or you use that for cardio? if you do box, do you box as good as you jump rope?

  • You can find all the answers to these questions if you read the info in the right hand corner of the screen.

    Thanks for the comments.

  • hello mate, i understand you use the buddy lee aero jump rope but can i just ask if it is anything special. worth the extra cash etc etc.

    tnaks mate

  • whoa, the way u jump rope is as thou ure dancing.

  • some good rope work there mate....

i have a short rope work vid on here myself just for a laugh, check it out.

  • Gosh, you are hot!

  • what is the trick to the side trick? can't get the cordination on that

  • Great stuff. Awesome footwork and coordination. A lot better than the first one w/ more variety and tricks.

  • How long did it take you to get this good at jump roping?

  • Hi Greg, love the movie you have made, truly awesome... is there anyway of slowing it down alittle and give a tuition? Thanks,Gary.

  • Possibly over the summer if I have time.

  • can i do it almost as good as you, after a summer with practice everyday? u think?

    i'm not fat or annything^^

  • Who knows, until you try. You might be able to.

  • does it take long time to be that good?

  • not if u practice a shit ton

  • Goo stuff, but have you seen the jump rope king video???

  • does it matter what jump rope it is? cuz i suck at jump rope and im blaming it at my rope.

  • Having a good rope helps, but it won't define your skills.

  • yup! it aint the rope, its the jumper!!

  • How long did it take for you to be this good? I have been skipping for serveral years. And i am not this good.

Cant you post like a vid on how to do some moves?

  • I've been skipping as long as I've been boxing. So thats 8 years.

And I might post a new video sometime this summer when I find the time.

  • what do the vest and wrist weights accomplish? do you gain strength/stamina from that? i'm just wondering if it would benefit me to use that in my training

  • The wrist weights are very helpful for your arms muscle endurance and strength. The weighted vest helps a little in that it strengthens your legs and feet from jumping. I normally only use the wrist weights for skipping and the vest for other exercises.

  • what buddy lee rope are you using?

  • Please read the info in the corner, it tells you.

It's a Buddy Lee Jump Rope.

  • Now that shit was hot i have lately been tring to lern how to skip rope

  • good work! next you should learn to go into a squat from a double. thats what i did.

  • WOW i am trying to do your tricks but i cant do one . the double under.can you tell me how to do it?

  • its pike jumps

  • im a 13 year old boy, and im going to put a video on soon of my skipping skills, hope you like it;)....great video...keep it up!

  • great vid man. just starting out right now - got my rope for cheap. i feel that i dont really need to get a good rope i.e, buddy lee rope since i'm only learning basics. keep it up

  • wow :)

  • hey man, iam a light welterweight wondering what style boxer you are and how many fights you had and won?

    wb

    MB

  • I seriously need to go get a speed rope,

right now I use the cheap junk w/plastic handles.

They're such a fucking headache sometimes

  • Dude that awesome. I can do pretty good myself but I'm still working to perfection. I'm convinced it has to do with the rope I use. What rope to you use? Thanks for the help and keep up the good work.

  • I use a Buddy Lee rope.

  • Amazing

i cant wait till ill be in that shape to do that

  • From my experience, do not randomly swing your rope from side to side for the fun of it or to look cool cos it increases the tendencies to wear off soon and the rope would snap at either the ends where it meets the handgles or at the centre. Skip for serious cardio workout using variations but don't show off.

  • Swing the rope from side to side is not done to look cool or for fun. It is a maneuver like any other with the rope and helps with hand speed and hand control.

Many professionals use this technique and I've also been using it for over 2 years now and my rope is in great condition.

  • Hmm ok but if you wanna develop hand speed just hit the speed bag lol

  • Like I said, "It helps". But it's not the only thing you can do. The whole point of jumproping is not just for cardio. In boxing you hands and legs are completely separate entities. They both do are doing very different things and need to learn to work together. Jumpingrope is used by boxers because it closely mimics boxing in that aspect and by doing complicated maneuvers with the rope, it helps you develop you hand and leg coordination.

  • Cool thanks for the explanation. I have seen boxers who are very good but they are not proficient in jump roping. Likewise I have seen really good jump rope performers but they are not good in boxing lol. I have added you to my friends list. I hope to upload my own demo someday!! But first I gotta have a digital camera

  • Again like I said it's an exercise to "help". Not fully develop. But yeah of course your not going to see really good jumpropers good at boxing if they have never learned how to box lol.

  • speed bag isnt even 100% for handspeed, its like jump roping, its coordination and timing

  • cool

  • I like this video better than the old one, only because it shows more moves, and I think he's alot smoother and more effortless as well.

  • My pvc rope has a lot of bends in it. How would I straighten out the rope? Like the video. Make more! I am learning from you.

  • This was good but your first video owns this one, you were much faster in the first, your moves more complex, the frontal camera angle in the first is far better and the music more fitting, good job on both though.
