  • Three great songstresses in beautiful harmony. What a wonderful trio!

  • Oh, my. What beauty. And anyone who cannot see and hear that beauty is a complete fool.

  • Beautiful.

  • Why have I never heard of the Mama Cass TV show? They must've canceled before it aired. Television execs in the 60's were baboons. A million dollar trio!

  • Really great performance! Thank you.

  • Has anyone, anytime at any place ever seen Joni Mitchell actually SMILE?

She always looks liked she's pissed at the whole world

  • Three of the best talents of all time!

  • This is what pure talent is.

  • I have listened to this song over 100 times and still doesn't bore me. It don't get any better then these three together......

  • Three beautiful PEOPLE who love music and singing, and put their hearts and souls into it. That's what makes them beautiful

  • Just another example of why the 60s had the best music.

  • Fabulous! will bring a tear to my eye, every time......

  • Timeless talent

  • Mary was a such a stylish gorgeous woman! Wow!

  • @MerseySky: well said. Valid points.

  • @NSA666999 proves their is no depth to ignorance in the world.

  • Oh, yeah, not everybody can be as good looking as David Crosby, Charlie Watts or Phil Collins, right? If women were as bigoted as men, there'd be a whole lot of men who wouldn't be able to make a cornbread living in the world of rock and roll. Of course, that bigotry also explains how no-talent tootsies like Britney Spears are allowed fourteen minutes and fifty-nine seconds of fame beyond what is merited.

  • @MerseySky

That's some nice femo ranting there, soldier! I bet you keep lots of cats too.

  • @DoctorBohr I sure do! Cats are smarter, more helpful and they don't demand a nickel of the money I have made through hard work, unlike some jizz smeared, anencephalic monster like you. It surpasses your gnat's cranium that women can have a superb life without a man. Of course, men don't need women, do they? They keep hookers in business just for their conversational skills. Your ego types blarney while your inadequacies scream like a banshee. You sure know how to make a girl laugh.

  • @MerseySky More femo anti-men ranting, this time offered up between paroxsyms of hatred. Nice. It doesnt sound like youre laughing either. Were you abused by your father or are you a repressed lesbian from a deeply christian family?

  • @DoctorBohr You're the pitiful bit of freak meat who was provoked by my post and had to reply. I surely hit some nerve in that old vas deferens that simply had to be addressed. Evidently your idiosyncrasies took a hit because of my opinions. Even your attempt to wield Freudian nutbaggery exemplifies your sense of masculine inadequacy. Physician, heal thyself. Trying to project your psychological deficiencies on me won't help you and you surely need it.

  • @MerseySky Sorry, but your original opinion was just a sweeping, vitriolic anti-male sneer that appeared to be motivated by nothing more than inner hate, like everything else youve since spewed. It didnt deserve anything more than my "nice anti-men ranting, soldier" remark. Moreover, I found it oddly Freudian that you managed to use an old folk vid as a pretext for an anti-men rant. This hatred comes from within, as most hatreds do.

  • @MerseySky Finally, youre whole attitude can be summed up by "my genderis superior because I belong to it, and the other is inferior." So, no it has little to do with any of my 'inadequacies'. I will not even bother to address the stupidity of the assumption that women can't be shallow, but will leave you to have your clumsily verbose last word.

  • @DoctorBohr Give it up, punk. She owned you-- never mind that the phrase "youre whole attitude" proves your lack of command of the English language. I believe the word should be "your." As that lovely example of feminine confidence, Gloria Steinem, said: "The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off." Rave on, Onan the Barbarian.

  • @TheYellowTulips Whoopdeedoo, she got some smiles from some people. Millions of people buy Murdoch's publications each day, so that must mean these are balanced and objective new sources. And pointing out typos are just another internet commonplace (but while you were there, you might have also noted that I forgot the apostrophe in 'youre' too!).

  • @TheYellowTulips AND, you call me a barbarian yet you take no umbrage with her making vicious, well below the belt remarks about parts of the male genitalia. Doesnt this strike you as a wee bit twisted? It amply demonstrates her obvious hatred of men, and no doubt yours. This entire attitude is partisan, sophomoric and downright immature.

Ultimately, you and her have neglected the irony in the fact that you are abusing a male who enjoyed this vid and likes Mama Cass.

  • @DoctorBohr But yeah, we're all shallow. I bow to your female superiority. You sure showed me (that is, that you're a pair of hate filled, militant idiots of the childish type who have put the feminist movement back a few decades, and who wonder why only your cats pay you any notice)

  • @DoctorBohr Poor pitiful man child. Point out the double standard and your gonads swell. You trot out the "verbose" accusation when you aren't greeted with the handmaiden attitude. Good thing Niels Bohr isn't around to die all over again after witnessing a fool who dares adopt his name. Sad, sad, sad little man. King of argumentum ad hominem. Poor, poor little YouTube barfly. Lattes are on me, peeps, if I can get through one without laughing.

  • @DoctorBohr I see she earned a dozen kudos. Where are yours, Pee Wee?

  • Oh, the best days of one's life are when you are young & the age these ladies are.

Move on 32 years, one dead from a heart attack. one dead from Leukemia, one suffering premature skin ageing due to smoking all her life.

  • No one get me wrong, but I loved the way the women -- and singers in general -- looked back then. they WEREN'T perfect. But they all had beautiful voices! And in that time, their looks weren't the sole focus -- their beautiful voices were. I wish it were still like that.

  • @NSA666999 Never knew there were people like you who would boast of their ignorance.

  • Unbelievable! Such great talent together, two of which are not with us anymore.

  • Thanks.

  • Three simply Gentile's

  • cass was such a great voice.

  • tacky mime great song and singers

  • @ChiroQuacker The fat one was a beautiful person you retard and she could do better then you BTW.

  • @ChiroQuacker "Never argue with an idiot they drag you down to their level then beat you with experience."

  • @1974Qball

    Great comment LoL!

  • @ChiroQuacker What a sad little no-dick fuck you must be.

  • @1974Qball truthfull i thought she was a man dressed up as a woman for a joke till i heard her sing lol

  • @1974Qball agreed!

  • Joni Joni Joni!! :)

  • the other momma would have been a better trio than cass...

  • Wow... that is quite a psychedelic rainbow colored caftan she has there!

  • The Sirens are jealous.

  • Oh wow! Three incredible women, lovely song but looking back, a good arranger would have utiilized the best of their voices.

  • FANTASTIC

  • Well, it's a great song, and sung very well. But the arrangement for it is awful and those outfits are just heinous - I thought someone dosed my morning coffee! Fashion is one thing I don't miss about the sixties.

  • Yes, great to have 3 wonderful singers at one performance like this. Thank you for posting.

  • This is great! Thanks for posting. Three of my favorites from the 1960's....two of them have passed on but it is nice that we have this moment captured.

  • Wow - a moment captured for eternity! simply wonderful.

  • Nice trio of ladies!!!

  • RIP Mama and Mary. Thanks for all the good moments you gave us...

  • I am so glad that I found this little gem hidden on YouTube! Thank you for posting it! These three are like the folk answer to Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton, and Emmy Lou Harris. I love that they sang together at least once!

  • fantastic

  • Is the blond muppet in the rock band based on Mary Travers?

  • @suitsmelikeasuit I thought it was supposed to be Joni.

  • @ashbury1993 I see that, maybe it's both.

  • @suitsmelikeasuit You know, I have never thought about that, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit!

  • mamma cass, i love you,,

  • Great stuff.

  • 3 of the sweetest voices you will ever hear!

  • Wow does this take me back... thanks for posting it.

  • People always go on about beauty being inside and so on, but I reckon cass was really good looking. Yeah I know she was big, but such a pretty face..and they always said once you'd met her and discovered her personality you didn't even notice her size. a truly unique lady.

  • two of them are dead now ;'(

  • joni mitchell looks so uncomfortable throughout the whole video..looking around and shit

  • @pjam07pjam It was the 60's...you know they were all high as hell!

  • Beautiful harmonies!

  • Wow, this is like the female equivelant of Clapton, Hendrix and Beck jamming in a smoky club in '68.

  • And I never knew Joni had such a great vocal range!!! LOVELY!

  • WOW!!! What a rare moment! Such beautiful harmony!

  • Joni Joni Joni...

  • a very intimate performance... lucky audience! beautifully done

  • Scotty, beam me back!!!!

  • @mygirlruth me too

  • Ew hippies...

Bahahahaahaha JUST KIDDING. how could anyone NOT love this song? It's gorgeous! Pure melodic poetry... :]

  • Gorgeous harmony.........beautiful message by three of folk/pop music's best!

  • Joni kills this, like usual :)

  • Cass truly had a wonderful voice.

  • I LOVE THIS! Three of my favorites. Why don't we have talent like this anymore?

  • Truly The queens of folk! Like three angels! LOVE,Love IT!

  • Or maybe they should just have a TV show called "The Greatest Girl SIngers Of All Time"

  • With Joan Baez, The Queens Of Folk

  • Man tha´s fantastic - o Som dessas vozes são extremamente incríveis hehehe

  • had drinks with mary one night. very nice.

  • Whoa, these women were brilliant.. but not together.

  • Three of the best women singers that span not only the Folk Era but Rock N Roll as well...Simply beautiful and heart warming. Brings back memories and evokes so much emotion it's hard not to get caught up in tears <3 . Love all of you gals!

  • 3 of the best singer songwriters that will ever exist. love all three.

  • Just add Laura Nyro.

  • @TomHendricksMusea agreed........so true !

  • @TomHendricksMusea Wow....Laura too.....my mind would be blown. Maybe Judee Sill could drop by....

  • Ma è splendidooo !!! bellissime voci

    complimenti ..ggrazie Maria

  • All talented . Joni best writer, Mary great harmony, Cass best voice.

  • look and listen, this is the sound of peace

  • WOW. <3

  • No consultation on the wardrobe but a great result.

  • beautiful..

  • beautiful..

  • Priceless ! Makes me smile

  • Joni is the great in this video,,she wrote amazing songs futher only we love ,,and i love

  • relíquias no youtube...

  • RIP IN PEACE CASS AND MARY!

  • Cass was definitely not much to look at but good god what a voice...just astounding

  • This is pretty fucking ironic now isn't it! Joni Mitchell who calls Bob Dylan a plagiarist and a fake is singing his song on TV. I wonder what that makes her?

  • @lucasiskewl she always loved Bob Dylan. He was her primary influence. She called him a plagiarist after Modern Times in 2006, which is pretty understandable. Also cover =/= plagiarism.

  • @lucasiskewl Check out the poem by Rabindranath Tagore "Where there is no fear" it should ring a bell to a well known Dylan song. Also check out John Jacob Niles "Go away from my window" hmmmm? Joni might be right!

  • Mama Cass got some nasty teeth

  • the fantastic three

read FIRST LOVE written by PETRA MARIA SCHEID

    at amazon com

    luvit

  • I like Joni best, she changed, changed, and changed again... good stuff.

  • Wonderfully gifted singers, all three of them.

  • i luv it

  • Man this video just epitomizes The Sixties.

  • So beautiful..3 great female voices from 3 uniquely talented ladies of our

    past...

  • Sorry Joni!

  • @katherine3486

no worries, talent wise she has been dead for decades and her mind is really shot. A real crouchy bitch.

  • These 3 ladies now singing in the heavenly choir. May they rest in peace.

    Thank you for posting.

  • @katherine3486 Joni Mitchell is not dead.

  • @katherine3486 uuuuh Joni is still alive :)

  • omg I love this.. the freakin best.

  • Awesome!!! I don;t remember the song or these three wonderful voices ever being put together in one place, but WOW! I'm happy i caught up to it finally :D. Joni left SUCH a rich legacy..... heck she's still at it!! Completely amazing.

  • @altareggo Bob Dylan wrote the song in 1967. But "The Band" recorded it off the debut album in 68. Richard Manual's version will make you cry as it poured out from his soul. He sang his heart wrenching rendition as if he was bleeding. It was phenomenally beautiful. "Festival Express" version was awesome.

  • People standing up for their rights and challenging political figureheads who got it wrong, the Jets stunning Colts in Superbowl III, the 'Amazing Mets' and music that provided a voice for a generation. Then, divisive but unifying at the same time. Now, just professions that segregate people, not by beliefs but only by status and wealth.

  • Lady Nothing, really? ( cough, cough, cough, cough, cough). No way, no how, never. The late great Mama Cass, the late great Mary Travers and Joni Mitchell were and still are the best. So go listen to the garbage that you do please and leave the real music to those of us that know what real music is, thank you very much.

  • wtf with the hair dude

  • wow what a trio

  • i do like that late 60's session cat sort of arrangement, but i gotta say I wish this one had just been a cappella.

  • What a group! Sorry it's not a more memorable song.

  • @dyinglikeflies It is far more than a just memorable song from who made it famous. " The Band ". In fact it will never be forgotten. Richard Manual's rendition astounding, when he died it was sung by his band mate at his funeral.

  • Great video!

  • @demonhoopa, Not Every generation thinks that way about the music in( their day) Not trying to be mean iam just saying my opinion! My kids and grandkids are different generations and we all love the same ole rock-N-roll! LOL

  • I thought every man has only one angel-I was wrong.

  • OK, the video has gotten old (clothes, position, haircuts...): but it's great to see these images...

But the song is timeless and when talent is here, the look doesn't matter!

  • WOW! so beautiful! 3 of my favorite voices...together! I never saw this one before...THANK YOU!

  • Happy Birthday Mama Cass! RIP

  • great stuff. two out of three are now dead.

i think the sandwich that did in mamma cass was a folk myth. she left us way too early, no matter what took her away from us.

  • @adamscott179 she happen to be eating lunch when she had a heart attack, she could have been doing anything at the time. Her sandwich had nothing to do with her death. People like to make fun of the "fat girl" like she deserves it, even after her death with one last joke.

  • @TheSoloAsylum So damn sad! The human race can be so, just soooooo Gurrrrrrr!! Well you know, i cant even find the right word!

  • I still wanna be Mary!

  • There was great talent then and there's great talent now. I simply think this a wonderful combination of 3 beautiful ladies, each with her own unique qualities. And this is a gorgeous rendition of this number!

  • as much as i do appreciate today's music (being 'just a teenager'), there's something about music of the past that i am undeniably drawn and attracted to. it's a different feeling that you can't get from new music. i'm sure kids felt like that back then too, with old jazz and such. all music is different, to be appreciated in different ways.

  • Not sure what I'm searching for Mercedes Sosa but I'm assuming YouTube. I did and while she's not my kind of singer I don't deny her talent. Just as Lady GaGa is not someone I would listen to I do respect the fact that she has talent. Don't take my opinion for it. Ask her millions of fans.

  • Can i jump inside the computer screen?

i wish i could be alladin

  • 3 Angels :)

  • Stunning to see and hear this...I never knew these wonderful ladies ever sang together... just beautiful.

  • Wow, those ladies.....THE BEST of the BEST .....EVER!

  • oh my god those outfits are amazing.

  • mama cass is fascinating more than any other slim, sexy blondie

  • Why weren't these ladies a supergroup? I would've bought THAT album! :)

  • this is one magnificent performance by 3 magnificent giants. Thank you

  • Interesting phrasing by Travers.

  • 3 chicks just chillin'. awesome!

  • To ffunny

  • Man, Cass Elliot had an amazing voice. Never heard another quite like that. Her tone and vibrato are absolutely beautiful and seems like it comes natural. Not overdone at all like so many others. A true gift she had.

  • @INTHEJUNGLE123 She died of a drug over dose.

  • @harwicke

Official Cause of Death: Fatty Myocardial Degeneration due to Obesity. Natural Causes. Only addiction she was known to have was food.

  • @INTHEJUNGLE123 You earned your screen name - you're a fucking animal. Official Cause of Death: Fatty Myocardial Degeneration due to Obesity. Natural Causes. Grow the fuck up before your stupidity and disrespect for reality take away your opportunity to mature.

  • @INTHEJUNGLE123 your an ass just because cass eliot was fat you should not judge others dick head

cause it will end up biting you in the ass when it is your time and mama cass was no bitch

she made more money and music than you will ever accomplish in your life time she was also a verry giving person how dose that make her a bitch and when your time comes i hope that god forgives you from your judgment of others then again i hope he dosent forgive you i hope you rott in hell ashole

  • @INTHEJUNGLE123 she had a heart attack.

  • Just loved Mary Travers. A Kentucky girl who passed on a great career in 60's contemporary music because she believed issues of peace & civil rights were noble causes. We lost Mary in 2009 and I struggle to find an entertainer today with the same level of social conscientiousness. I also remember when Cass died, in July 1974, while over in England. A wonderful singer lost at 33 years old.

  • They say ev'rything can be replaced,

Yet ev'ry distance is not near.

    So I remember ev'ry face

Of ev'ry man who put me here.

I see my light come shining

From the west unto the east.

Any day now, any day now,

    I shall be released.

  • They say ev'ry man needs protection. They say ev'ry man must fall. Yet I swear I see my reflection. Some place so high above this wall. I see my light come shining. From the west unto the east. Any day now, any day now,. I shall be released. Standing next to me in this lonely crowd,. Is a man who swears he's not to blame. All day long I hear him shout so loud,. Crying out that he was framed. I see my light come shining. From the west unto the east. Any day now, any day now, I shall be released.
  • @DontLookBack7411 You're life must be so empty if you base things of the soul on appearance. How about posting a photo of yourself so we can get a gander of a seriously ugly dude... soul as well as appearance? Thanks in advance, Trog.
