If you have a desire in your heart for Jesus, don't waste any time, pray to Jesus and ask Him to come into your life and to give you understanding, pray everything in the name of Jesus.
@KingdomSeeker2012 Where is it written in the Bible to "ask Jesus to come into your life..."? This is another one of those "Christian cliches" that appear nowhere in scripture--not even once!
What is in the scripture is this:
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
It was the preaching of the resurrection that was the hallmark of the apostles.
Jesus said He is 'the' way, not 'a' way which means that Jesus is the only way, there is no other way to the Father. What could be clearer? Jesus is the ONLY Way. 'No one comes to the Father except through Me.'
trinity, resurrection of the body, rapture, immortal soul, personal savior, to be absent from the body IS TO BE present with the Lord, the sinner's prayer, accept Christ, ask Jesus into your heart, going to heaven/hell upon death, etc.
@averagebear1 You are correct! You win the game. However, what IS in the Bible is also very important, and one in particular: Jesus Christ was stone-cold dead, but God raised him. Now he is lord. Without that, Christianity is just another vain religion, and we are yet in our sins.
"Jesus Christ was stone-cold dead, but God raised him. Now he is lord. Without that, Christianity is just another vain religion, and we are yet in our sins."
No, without that, Christianity is another FALSE religion (like the rest), and then there is NO SUCH THING as sin as that is a Judeo-Christian concept.
But, since snakes and donkeys don't talk, most rational people can probably rule out Christianity from the get-go anyway.
@wordcentered allow me: nothing that is IN the Bible is important, because the text has never been proven to be work of God. Which, by the way, was never proven to exist.
6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
read the WHOLE bible... you will be surprised what you find.
@averagebear1 Im not sure about anything else but the rapture is actually in the Bible. It says God will not tell even his most worth angels when it will happen, then all of Gods children will be taken to Heaven while Jesus comes back to fight the Anti-Christ for seven years. Then a new world will start.
i think if u look for the words literally it is not in the bible but if u look MOre disticnt to it u will see the principle..which is really what the bible want to say to us
Muhammad had sex with a 9 year old girl, raped women and children.
He also conveniently did something like raiding caravans and then in the aftermath claimed "Allah" told him to do it. No miracles were witnessed by Muhammed and the "miracles" he performed were only added later by the Hadith.
Christ died and rose from the dead and was seen by 500 eye witnesses. He prayed for His enemies while were was tortured and hanging on the cross. Christ healed and forgave.
@Raffos05 "Muhammad had sex with a 9 year old girl, raped women and children."
Can you give us a source that verifies that? Because you know, some people could say that Jesus had relations with Mary Magdalene. Do I personally believe that? No, but there are always stupid things said about religious figures to discredit them. So let's see something that actually backs up this claim of yours.
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, the choose for yourself this day whom you will serve weather the gods your fore-fathers served beyond the river, or the gods of the Ammerites, in whose land you are living, but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24: 15)
I think that verse states everything everyone said on here... you don't have to serve the Lord, you can serve who you want to, but as for me, I chose to serve the Lord.
@3aedoun Good for you. Was Muhammad raised from the dead? The Lord Jesus was and he is the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the father but by him.
IPilate confirmed that Jesus was dead before handing the body to Joseph. Both used the same greek word Joseph was not deceiving Pilate neither is the bible. Jesus is Lord forever. He is my Lord and savior.
why are you quizzing on 3 and 4 word phrases -- who keeps up with that kind of minutia? instead why not base the quiz on WHOLE VERSES or at least whole sentences like you did with "god helps those who help themselves". who the heck cares about whether or not it's "Slain BY or FOR or WITH the spirit"? who even uses such a phrase anyway!?
There are things God said, and things God never said. Only what God said will produce faith in our lives (Romans 10:17). Lots of people use phrases like "we're saved sinners," "God called him home," and "cleanliness is next to godliness," etc. The point is that God never said these things. The Lord Jesus said that the truth shall make you free (John 8:32), Christian cliches cannot. In Genesis 3:1-6 see what Eve added to or left out of what God said. How much that "minutia" matters to us today!
doesnt count as sending a massiah and just because mr perfect and infoulable didnt see that for about the 10th times since creation,he would be soo pissed off and confused about how to deal with his perfect creation from a perfect alll knowing creator that he had to make up another way foro us to wipe the slate clean....That doesnt prove anything other than if he exists(not) that he is not omnitetent,,,lol,,,next!
Fine, don't believe then. Your believing it or not is really not my business, that is entirely between you and God. It is a free will decision. At one time I didn't believe it, either. But I knew "there is something wrong with the world, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad (Morpheus, the Matrix)." Yes, this world is like the Matrix. And once I saw the way out (Jesus the Christ) I knew I could be truly free. And if I am wrong, I am only wrong. If I am right I have gained everything.
As for Pascal's wager, personally, I do not believe in gambling.
As far as proof goes, well, there IS proof, the question is, "Do you want it?"
What you may have experienced as Christianity is 99% man-made. Man-made religion uses fear, shame and guilt to manipulate people. The Lord Jesus never used coercion to get people to come to his meetings. He couldn't keep them away! People were drawn to him because he loved them without strings attached.
you must be kidding me,,lol, there are so many holes in what you are saying, where to begin? There is no proof. Proof is something that is repeatable, verifiable by someone else. If you have some god dillusion,if god himself were to come and sit on your lap and tell you that you were a dog named fred. I would be happy for you fred (looney as hell) but happy for you. Still that is not proof to me that he exists as I didnt see it and it is nothing other than your word it exists.
I have never defended "ravishing," and if you would read that passage again you would see clearly that God didn't approve of it, either.
At one time scientists believed the world the flat, and I would have been ridiculed (or worse) for not believing them. God sent His Son to die for you, whether you receive Him or not. That is love. God IS love. He thinks you are awesome and He wants to hang out with you.
And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword:
But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.
Absolutely! You are, however, missing one very important historical point regarding the story. God had given the land to Abraham (it was His to give) many years before. In the meantime these people had moved in and were not interested in leaving. They had to be removed by force. If you have a problem with that you probably never owned property, or do not believe that anyone should.
"God had given this land to Abraham". And how do you know this ? Because the sons of Abraham said so. Sorry, I don't believe god said this was their land, we only have writings written by the hebrews who make this claim. I am a house owner.
How do you "know" about global warming? How do you "know" man evolved from nothing, or anything else you may claim to believe? You only have words. You chose to believe them or not. I chose to believe God's words. You can chose to not believe them. How cool is that!
Psalm 24:1 The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
What "science"? Like the global warming farce that's being ram-rodded down our throats? How do you "know" the god of science is right? That all seems to depend on who does the research and where the grant money comes from.
In god as omnipotent real-estate agent, he decided in a world with a tiny population that this land belonged to one group, and thats why the children had to die and the women had to be raped.
This sounds a bit immoral to me. This is the problem with religion, you can convince people that there is justifiable rape and murder.
Where is the commandment thou shall not rape, or inslave, or be racist, or abuse children?
God thinks you are awesome and He wants to hang out with you. God didn't design religion, man did. They got them out of their own minds. That is why religion will leave you empty, wishing for more, but never getting it. God made us for relationship with Him. That was His "master plan"--to send a Messiah that would win us back to Him.
Well, a Hebrew scholar you ain't. That "ravishing" is not something God approves of (if you would take some time to read the passage you would see how clear it is). And if you check your sources for Hebrew (I know, it is going to actually take some time to look it up) you will see that the word "shakab" (ravished) means to lie with, sexually, but does not mean rape.
Are you better with your science than you are with your Hebrew? For your sake I hope so.
You really are a joke: "lie with sexually" doesn't mean rape in your book. They kill the men, then have permission from god to lie with them sexually.
You are just to stupid to debate with, I've never debated with someone so dumb.
Funny how god has the human morals of bronze aged people. You have a bronzed aged brain.
I didn't realize you were debating. It reads more like a diatribe. I guess your professors forgot to tell you that when, in a "debate," you lower yourself to calling your opponent names, like "dumb," etc., it is because you have nothing of substance to bring to the table. Name-calling is for children.
The Jews in the German death camps had a beautiful saying. It is "Mine gendunken sind frei." That is "My thoughts are free." My thoughts are free, pal, and they shall remain so. thanks to God.
Before we get into this any farther I have to ask you a question. Is it just blind faith, tunnel vision and to hell with reasoning, rational thought, facts, scientific evidence or lack there of, OR do you have something besides the bible, personal feelings, dillusions etc. to base your faith on...Serious question, not meant to insult you but it requires a serious and honest answer...OH and btw, sacraficing himself to himself because he needed a loopole for us to get into his good grace again
I would recommend putting the pipe down for a few minutes, if you can handle it for that long. Then, if you are able to, print out your comments and show them to your therapist and see what she tells you. I really don't think I can be of much help to you. Thanks for watching my video, anyway.
You choose to answer me in this way because you have no other answers? I guess if this is the case then there is little doubt as to your need for such a crutch......if you can ever come up with anything valide to say then let me know. Thanks for the inability to support your beliefs. I dont blame you tho,if I was in your shoes with head in the sand then my answer might be of the same quality..
You have your crutch, I have mine. The difference is I admit it. So now that you have stopped blathering as much as your previous messages I will tell you this--I don't owe anything to you. If you don't like it then go to another video and vent your bile at there.
It requires more faith to believe in nothing. So I congratulate for having more faith than me.
I wasnt actually even mentioning your video. I was watching your posts to others and felt that I would give you a chance to defend your postions be4 just writing you off as fool. You have responed and I see no other reason to keep asking you questions that you cannot answer about your faith. Keep your congratulations as once again you seem to be confused. An Atheists stand point is as simple as this. Lack of belief that a god exists..period. No evidence, no belief, simple isnt it?
I believe in evolution, proof=belief, Tada! I believe and science can Prove we evolved from a one cell into what we all are today, every specie. The big bang wasnt abig bang and then fully evolved people were walking around. No it started with one cell. The bible would have you believe that one day it was nothing and then There everything was..Now I congratulate you in your enormous belief in nothing,,lol I can show proof of my beliefs in the tangible,,,,can you? No proof=nothing to believe in.
Evolution has proof? That's a good one. A one-celled creature crawled up from...Where did that one-celled creature come from? Where? Congratulations one your proof. Have a nice life.
No Christians are actually doing everything that the Bible tells them to do. I guess they don't really believe that it contains the inerrant word of God.
Romans 10:9-11 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Surely you can come up with something better than that. Your replies are quite a disappointment. The last guy who replied did a much finer job than you are doing.
What can I tell you. I'm evil! If hell does exist I'll probably wind up as Satan's cabana boy. That of course doesn't mean I don't know that I'm robbing you of any and all fun while trying to bait me.
A troll baits the populace... A Master baits the trolls! Now go forth young Grasshopper! Use the lesson you have learned here wisely! (and I even threw in the whole "master baits" thing in for you to finally work with. You've earned it I suppose.)
Do you know why I don't go to YouTube videos made by unbelievers? Because you guys always come to me.
You started this off by trying to show off your knowledge of Greek. Since then you've degraded to jokes 13 year old boys think are funny. Can't you find something better to try to put me down with?
This clearly indicates that Joseph knew Jesus wasn't at all dead. A sponge full of vinegar would have made Christ more alert and yet he "died" several days before anyone else did when crucified. Isn't it more likely that he only appeared dead due to the sponge being full of opiates (as was common at the time to be used during surgery)? This is from the ORIGINAL Greek text that when translated to Latin lost the meaning of ptoma and soma to just mean "body"!
"Soma" is "a body" of men or animals (or even heavenly bodies) and can be dead or alive. You should know that. The Lord Jesus was crucified, he was dead but now he is alive because God raised him from the dead..
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
The Lord Jesus had a choice. He could have said, "No."
God sent His son for you. God thinks you are awesome and He wants to hang out with you.
"We must understand that the Bible is an eastern book and that the idioms and expressions are eastern, not western. " Well, if you want to get into mistranslations, how about how the story of Jesus' "resurrection" got blown out of proportion? In the original greek text when Joseph of Aramethea asks for the body of Jesus he uses the word "soma" (which meant living body) and Pontius Pilate uses the word "Ptoma" (dead body)?
sorry guy, I can't find anywhere in the gospel account where pilate used different Greek words for 'body'. Infact in ''Mar 15:43-45 Pilate had to send one of his senior soldiers to verify if Jesus was really dead before handing the body to Joseph.
YOU CAN READ MANY OTHER TRANSLATIONS OF THE BIBLE OR EVEN TRY AND READ IT IN THE GREEKS VERSION. OK?
my point is that no boday is deceiving anybody. Joseph and Pilate used the same greek word foe 'body'. so 'thereealmadwombat' is wrong to say that they both used different greek words. Jesus is Lord forever. He lives in me. I am a son of God.
i was responding to 'therealmadwombat'. Joseph and Pilate used the same Greek word for 'body'. Pilate had to confirm that Jesus was dead before handing the body to Joseph. The bible is the word of God no matter how men have changed a lot of things to make it say what it is not saying. I love the Lord. Jesus is alive. He lives in me. I am His forever no matter what and how the unbelievers try to discredit the bible.
Look up "The dead sea scrolls". It is extremely old, first copies of the original writings of Scripture. When they were found, they were translated and compared to modern day Bibles and guess what they found? The dead sea scrolls were 99% accurate to the Bibles we currently have today.
The 1% of translation are small words like if one text had the word "small", another would have "tiny", another "minuscule", etc.
So the argument "it's been translated too many times" is false
Yeah. It's hard to believe people see Christians as easily led sheep isn't it? well, besides the whole "The Lord is my shepherd" thing, being referred to constantly as a flock, etc., etc. etc.! Can't imagine where non-Christians would get the idea from!
Awesome! Maybe you can do a part two and reference the part where God makes a deal with Jephthah to help him win a war in exchange for boiling his daughter as a blood sacrifice. Or maybe the part where God explains how we should behave towards our slaves. Or maybe even the part where God demands that whole villages be put to the sword for victimless thought crimes... Except for the virgins, God is a good God so he let them keep the virgins for themselves. Looking forward to it!
You obviously don't understand the "sacrifice" that he made. She was not boiled, goofy. If you truly want to understand, let me know and I'll explain it to you. If you have your mind made up future correspondence will be of no use.
Thanks for writing, and God thinks you are awesome!
I just reread it and my bible says burned, not boiled. My mistake, although they are both equally barbaric. Also, I don't get the point of putting sacrifice in quotations. The story very clearly and openly says sacrifice. I guess I don't understand it, enlighten me.
We must understand that the Bible is an eastern book and that the idioms and expressions are eastern, not western. Go back 2,000 years and tell them you just ate a "hot dog" and they would think you were nuts. Space here does not allow much, but if you think a burnt sacrifice only means he set his daughter on fire you have misunderstood. His daughter would be like a nun in the service of the temple. Her friends "lamented" her, which is a mistranslation of the Hebrew word (tanah) to talk with.
Well I just looked up the original and put it through several translations and God said that should he win the war he must make a burnt sacrifice of the first living thing to walk through his door. I don't know what else that would mean, the translation is the same every time. It says she went into the hills for two weeks to weep because she would never marry. I don't know why she would want to do that if all she was getting was a talk.
Dull. Slow. Unoriginal. Don't tell me anybody finds this entertaining. Small children wouldn't even be attracted to this. This is in need of some serious zing.
Titus 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
I don't know why that you, as an unbeliever, would really care about Christian videos, but it seems you can't help yourself from going to them. In spite of your hatred for things Christian, God still thinks you are awesome.
This cartoon brings to light the fact that many "Christian" beliefs are nowhere in scripture.
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (Jesus Christ said this).
The truth shall make you free. Man-made religions and ideas will not have that effect. Setting people free with the truth--does that glorify God. or no?
My God is not just my God, He is also my Father. Not sure what you mean by "dictatorial," but He is a loving Father. He does still talk to those willing to listen, as in "the olden days." He speaks to us through His Word and by way of the spirit He gives to those who are His children. And He does want all people to be His children. The choice is, of course, yours and theirs.
1 Timothy 2:4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
Hebrews 2:14 ...that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.
Here it says that devil had the power of death, not God. In the Old Testament what you see is the Hebrew idiom of permission, i.e. God "allowed." Like gravity, if you fall off a roof it is your fault, not God's. Using this idiom they would say God did it. Jesus Christ revealed the operation of Satan and his forces, so in the New Testament we see God revealed as a loving Father, not a killer.
God gave that land to Abraham and his descendants. It was His, so He could do that. The nations that moved in while Israel was in Egypt, etc. weren't going to leave when Moses led Israel to the border of the promised land. There was no "United Nations" to handle the dispute. Israel fought for the land God gave them. They simply cleared squatters out. In many cases those people were doing human sacrifices and other evils. They had to go, so Israel got rid of them. That was "Law," now is "grace."
ok god-lovers. what makes your particular brand of a dictatorial god more true over any other god? does your god answer more of your prayers than the god of another faith? God felt it necessary to speak directly to moses and such in the olden days, yet he feels like we in this time are not worthy of this privilege. Does he really want us all to be saved? i highly doubt that
Why can't you just have faith, that if you're right and shut your mouth that God will fix everything for you... You said that atheists are "God haters" but how can you hate something that you don't believe exists... They don't hate God... They hate you because you do evil things and do them in God's name, you should be ashamed of yourselves, but you aren't because you believe that you're doing something for the greater good or you think you know that God exists, but you don't, you believe.
You know just enough of the Bible to be argumentative and strife-full. Your comments show how little you do know of what the Bible really means.
The Bible was written for men and women that want answers. If that is not you, that is your privilege. And it is my privilege to believe.
If you want to believe that this life is it and that when your die you are gone forever, go ahead and believe that. I will believe that there is a better world coming, and that I will be in it.
"How little I know of what the Bible really means"
Your missing the point, it isn't about what the Bible really means, it's about what people percieve it to mean...
The Bible wasn't written for people who want answers, because it would depend on the question, I honestly don't care what you believe because it doesn't affect me, but if you start demonstrating hatred and start killing people in the name of Jesus Christ, then It stops becoming your privilege and starts becoming my problem.
It is time to put down the bong and come back to earth. I guess it would depend on the question if it is something like, "Where can I get some good weed?" But the question, "How do I have eternal life?" is most definitely in the Bible (Rom. 10:9,10).
And where do you get the idea that today Christians want to kill people? Just what are you smoking?
If you don't care what I believe then why do you bother leaving nasty comments on my cartoon?
How was that great, they chose four phrases, that meant nothing... if they had chosen the part in the Bible where it says that homosexuality is an abomination and that we should kill them, where's that... How about the part where it is acceptable to claim that you know what God wants you to do... How about the part that says you can do whatever the hell you want to, as long as you say that I told you to do it... How about the part where you condemn everyone else because they don't believe in God
You are funny. Look, you believe what you want to believe and accept the consequences, and I will do the same. As the Jewish prisoners in the German concentration camps told their captors:"Mein gedunken sind frei." That's, "My thoughts are free, mate!" in Australian.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
The Bible was written for those who seek the truth. You, and every other unbeliever have freedom of will (which God gave you). You are free to come to whatever conclusion floats your boat. However your conclusions will not have the same effect that the truth does.
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
True Christianity is not what is exhibited in most mainline Churches. It is found in the Son of God as He is revealed in the scriptures.
The Epistles are instructions on HOW to live by faith yet we treat it like LAW or a commandment But Think this is the Epistles to Those who had seen Miracules seen people healed & sicness leave by the POWER of the Holey SPIRIT and yet PAUL has to send them LETTERS to tell them HOW to live like a Christian..only months after he left them Read the EPISTLES as sugestions as to be a GOOD Christian and not a LAW for that is folly and death of your faith
You prove the point of this cartoon exactly! Treating God's Word as mere suggestions is why so many Christians are defeated.
Paul got his message by revelation from God.
We can expect the results they got only when we believe.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
I agree wholeheartedly. Christians should do just as the bible says, and follow the instructions of Christ.
For example in Luke 12:33 where he tells his followers to sell all their possessions and give the money to the poor.
Most supposed 'christians' interpret that to mean something else, like 'love god more than money', but this is putting words into gods mouth, as we are warned not to do. That's why most all true Christians are broke and spend all their time helping the poor.
James 2:14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?
Rev 2:23 I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
It seems we have a contradiction here...
You see I see a lot of Christians talking about faith, but I don't see a whole lot walking the walk. According to Jesus, that's not enough. Also, I like how you ignored the point in my first post. No reasoning other than it would be too hard huh?
NIV 1 Corinthians 2:14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Apparently it is easy for you to sit back and criticize others--especially Christians. However, as the above verse shows it is impossible for you to "get" spiritual matters. So how can I "reason" with you?
Do you level these accusations at Muslims? Probably not :)
Oh, the irony of being called 'immune to reason' by a christian. Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has; it never comes to the aid of spiritual things, but - more frequently than not - struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God- Martin Luther. But apparently you know more about the bible than he did...
I do in fact argue in quite the same way with muslims. Not as often, because there just arent' as many that speak my language.
It depends on how you define "reason." I have a great deal of respect for brother Martin but I don't put his quotes above scripture.
And for me to argue with you over "faith" is like arguing with a blind man who denies the sunset. I see it, but he does not. That's OK, you are free to deny the existence of God. And I am free to see the sunset.
It seems your every argument must fall back to one point. I'm not a christian/faithful person so I cannot understand what you believe. The problem with this argument is that I was a christian for 15 years. I understand faith, belief, the bible and it's flaws quite well. I eventually realized that 'Faith' is nothing but a euphemism for cognitive dissonance. It's giving yourself permission to not think about a topic that's uncomfortably nonsensical. Care to say I was never a true christian?
You are still a Christian if you confessed Jesus as Lord and believed that God raised Him from the dead. You have incorruptible seed in you. That will never change. What you choose to do with your thoughts is another story.
If you don't believe in God you certainly do not believe in a Devil. Yet he is the evil behind the corruption of true Christianity as defined by the 7 church epistles (there were actually no Christians in the gospels period).
Yahweh murdered thousands of innocent women & children. He even caused a bear to maul children for making fun of a bald man! He's an advocate of slavery & Misogyny. "And it's all in the Bible!!"
How do U know which words R of God and which R of man?
There R many translational errors & manipulations of scripture by the fathers of the early church.
R U aware how the 4 Canonical gospels (M, M, L, & John) were actually chosen for inclusion into the NT?
You reply does not surprise me in the least. The Bible was not written for the skeptic, non-believer, or the infidel. It was written for men and women who want answers. The truths of God's Word will always be foolishness to any and all who do not have the spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
What is the purpose of your question? Do you already have your answer or do you really want to know mine?
I find that many unbelievers and unbelieving believers just want to fight and argue their point. Go ahead and argue. I know what I believe and why I believe it. And I sleep well at night.
The purpose of my question? Well I am genuinely interested in what motivates people to accept a certain dogma or doctrine, often despite overwhelming evidence that it has been contrived and often blatantly falsified, This applies to adherants of all religions. People often refer to the Bible as "the word of God" while quoting one of Paul's letters to one of the various groups following the then new religion. To me they are the words of Paul, later canonised by the Romans in Nicea. Simple really.
There was a lot that was done in the name of God at Nicaea that has absolutely nothing to do with Christianity. It has everything to do with religion. However, true Christianity is not a religion, but the way of a Father with His children. And Gos ius love. And the God loves you. I find out about this God in the Bible.
Atheism is a religion. It is man's worship of his intellect. It is a way which seems right to a man. It will end in more questions. God has answers. It is up to you. Did you pick?
Actually, what happened at Nicea has EVERYTHING to do with modern Christianity whether you realize it or not. This includes your beliefs. As for Christianity not being a religion...well that's a new one! And intellect is not to be worshiped it is to be USED, something which, unfortunately, religions tend to discourage (lest the fraud be revealed). What's that...God wants us to use our intellect...just not to use it too much...? Yes, I did pick, intellect wins!
Ah, you presume too much about my beliefs. I don't buy what councils have decided about God, I choose to believe His Word. There is fraud in religion, like atheism, not true Christianity. I hope you are using your intellect, since it is to be used.
And what does intellect win? An argument? If that is it I really feel sorry for you. If you use your intellect to build a hospital and at least you'll do something good with it. Instead you are surfing YouTube to spew your bile. Is that intelligence?
Well, like most religious zealots you are clearly deluded. If that makes you happy then good luck to you, just don't expect rational intelligent people to buy into your fantasy and do not be so quick to judge others. By the way, you never did answer Cootabux's original question. To do so would mean admitting that what you call "the word of God" is no such thing. It is the word of man pure and simple with all the inconsistencies and contradictions one would expect. Intellect tells me so.
Just at random here...God has answers, but are they the correct answers, if indeed this is the correct God? How do you know? Well, people say they read the Bible. But using the Bible to justify God FROM the Bible is circular logic - it makes no sense to me, which leads me to believe God is beyond any of our definitions - I think He likes it that way. Every time I ask God questions, they end in more questions - but that is satisfying. That is free. Questions. Learning. Intellect OF God, and man.
Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues.
If you read your Boy Scout handbook and it tells you to rub two sticks together and you'll get fire--and it works-- you just might conclude that that book has some answers, especially when other things come true, too.
One problem is that most have abandoned the power of God.
I'm not saying they are essentially the same. Of course they are differnt THAT way! But to ignore my point is to miss the relevence altogether. But what else should I expect from someone OBSESSED with being right?
Breathe slowly and deeply for a few seconds and state your point clearly. I have no idea what you are getting at.
My point is this: God's Word is true. What man adds is not.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
You wouldn't say "Jack never loved Rose in the movie Titanic cuz he never said so". Correct, he may never said so... but he sure spent about 3 hours PROVING that he did while Celine belted it out in the background!! lol
Haha! This was so random seeing as how you can't just paraphrase something to make it seem untrue. For example you wouldn't say that it wasn't true that in the color purple Netty was the most important person in the world to her sister Celie (played by Whoopi Goldberg) because she never said it the way that you are in this "test"! Anyone who would have seen the movie would have beared witness to a full 2 hours of her proving that it was infact just that way!
How does this have a negative rating? What deserves a thumbs down? Title is good, context is true. I liked it

If you have a desire in your heart for Jesus, don't waste any time, pray to Jesus and ask Him to come into your life and to give you understanding, pray everything in the name of Jesus.
KingdomSeeker2012 1 month ago
@KingdomSeeker2012 Where is it written in the Bible to "ask Jesus to come into your life..."? This is another one of those "Christian cliches" that appear nowhere in scripture--not even once!
What is in the scripture is this:
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
It was the preaching of the resurrection that was the hallmark of the apostles.
wordcentered 1 month ago
Jesus said He is 'the' way, not 'a' way which means that Jesus is the only way, there is no other way to the Father. What could be clearer? Jesus is the ONLY Way. 'No one comes to the Father except through Me.'

Also NOT in the bible:
trinity, resurrection of the body, rapture, immortal soul, personal savior, to be absent from the body IS TO BE present with the Lord, the sinner's prayer, accept Christ, ask Jesus into your heart, going to heaven/hell upon death, etc.
averagebear1 1 year ago

@averagebear1 Im not sure about anything else but the rapture is actually in the Bible.

(Joshua 24: 15)

why are you quizzing on 3 and 4 word phrases -- who keeps up with that kind of minutia? instead why not base the quiz on WHOLE VERSES or at least whole sentences like you did with "god helps those who help themselves". who the heck cares about whether or not it's "Slain BY or FOR or WITH the spirit"? who even uses such a phrase anyway!?

There are things God said, and things God never said. Only what God said will produce faith in our lives (Romans 10:17). Lots of people use phrases like "we're saved sinners," "God called him home," and "cleanliness is next to godliness," etc. The point is that God never said these things. The Lord Jesus said that the truth shall make you free (John 8:32), Christian cliches cannot. In Genesis 3:1-6 see what Eve added to or left out of what God said. How much that "minutia" matters to us today!

Still that is not proof to me that he exists as I didnt see it and it is nothing other than your word it exists.

I have never defended "ravishing," and if you would read that passage again you would see clearly that God didn't approve of it, either.

memully 2 years ago
Absolutely! You are, however, missing one very important historical point regarding the story. God had given the land to Abraham (it was His to give) many years before. In the meantime these people had moved in and were not interested in leaving. They had to be removed by force. If you have a problem with that you probably never owned property, or do not believe that anyone should.

LouisPlume 2 years ago
God thinks you are awesome and He wants to hang out with you. God didn't design religion, man did. They got them out of their own minds. That is why religion will leave you empty, wishing for more, but never getting it. God made us for relationship with Him. That was His "master plan"--to send a Messiah that would win us back to Him.
Where in the Bible does God approve of rape?
wordcentered 2 years ago
Where does god approve of rape?
Zachariah 14:1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. (14:1-2)
God will make "all nations" fight against Jerusalem. The women will be "ravished" and half its people enslaved.
And there are much more like this one.
memully 2 years ago
Well, a Hebrew scholar you ain't. That "ravishing" is not something God approves of (if you would take some time to read the passage you would see how clear it is). And if you check your sources for Hebrew (I know, it is going to actually take some time to look it up) you will see that the word "shakab" (ravished) means to lie with, sexually, but does not mean rape.
Are you better with your science than you are with your Hebrew? For your sake I hope so.

You really are a joke: "lie with sexually" doesn't mean rape in your book. They kill the men, then have permission from god to lie with them sexually.

This is from the ORIGINAL Greek text that when translated to Latin lost the meaning of ptoma and soma to just mean "body"!
therealmadwombat 2 years ago
"Soma" is "a body" of men or animals (or even heavenly bodies) and can be dead or alive. You should know that. The Lord Jesus was crucified, he was dead but now he is alive because God raised him from the dead..

So the argument "it's been translated too many times" is false

wordcentered 2 years ago
I just reread it and my bible says burned, not boiled. My mistake, although they are both equally barbaric. Also, I don't get the point of putting sacrifice in quotations. The story very clearly and openly says sacrifice. I guess I don't understand it, enlighten me.
kyledavidbyron 2 years ago
We must understand that the Bible is an eastern book and that the idioms and expressions are eastern, not western. Go back 2,000 years and tell them you just ate a "hot dog" and they would think you were nuts. Space here does not allow much, but if you think a burnt sacrifice only means he set his daughter on fire you have misunderstood. His daughter would be like a nun in the service of the temple. Her friends "lamented" her, which is a mistranslation of the Hebrew word (tanah) to talk with.
wordcentered 2 years ago
Well I just looked up the original and put it through several translations and God said that should he win the war he must make a burnt sacrifice of the first living thing to walk through his door. I don't know what else that would mean, the translation is the same every time. It says she went into the hills for two weeks to weep because she would never marry. I don't know why she would want to do that if all she was getting was a talk.

Jesus Christ revealed the operation of Satan and his forces, so in the New Testament we see God revealed as a loving Father, not a killer.

but in some passages god commands people to kill Ezekiel 9:5-7, Exodus 12:29-30 and even kills people himself Leviticus 26:21-22, 1 Kings 20:35-36

ACE0HUNTER 2 years ago
It is time to put down the bong and come back to earth. I guess it would depend on the question if it is something like, "Where can I get some good weed?" But the question, "How do I have eternal life?" is most definitely in the Bible (Rom. 10:9,10).
And where do you get the idea that today Christians want to kill people? Just what are you smoking?
If you don't care what I believe then why do you bother leaving nasty comments on my cartoon?
Go to a Muslim video and try your diatribes.

You still have a choice. Choose life.

Have a great day.

The bible is not a LAW we live by faith
The Epistles are instructions on HOW to live by faith yet we treat it like LAW or a commandment But Think this is the Epistles to Those who had seen Miracules seen people healed & sicness leave by the POWER of the Holey SPIRIT and yet PAUL has to send them LETTERS to tell them HOW to live like a Christian..only months after he left them Read the EPISTLES as sugestions as to be a GOOD Christian and not a LAW for that is folly and death of your faith
reconorder 3 years ago
You prove the point of this cartoon exactly! Treating God's Word as mere suggestions is why so many Christians are defeated.
Paul got his message by revelation from God.
We can expect the results they got only when we believe.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
wordcentered 3 years ago
I agree wholeheartedly. Christians should do just as the bible says, and follow the instructions of Christ.
For example in Luke 12:33 where he tells his followers to sell all their possessions and give the money to the poor.
Most supposed 'christians' interpret that to mean something else, like 'love god more than money', but this is putting words into gods mouth, as we are warned not to do. That's why most all true Christians are broke and spend all their time helping the poor.

NIV Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
This is the only way to be a true Christian. Confess Jesus as Lord and believe that God has raised Him from the dead.
As far as the Bible goes, it was not written for the unbeliever, skeptic, or atheist. It was written for men and women who want answers.

No reasoning other than it would be too hard huh?
cyxgun 2 years ago
NIV 1 Corinthians 2:14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Apparently it is easy for you to sit back and criticize others--especially Christians. However, as the above verse shows it is impossible for you to "get" spiritual matters. So how can I "reason" with you?
Do you level these accusations at Muslims? Probably not :)
wordcentered 2 years ago
Oh, the irony of being called 'immune to reason' by a christian. Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has; it never comes to the aid of spiritual things, but - more frequently than not - struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God- Martin Luther. But apparently you know more about the bible than he did...
I do in fact argue in quite the same way with muslims. Not as often, because there just arent' as many that speak my language.
cyxgun 2 years ago
It depends on how you define "reason." I have a great deal of respect for brother Martin but I don't put his quotes above scripture.
And for me to argue with you over "faith" is like arguing with a blind man who denies the sunset. I see it, but he does not. That's OK, you are free to deny the existence of God. And I am free to see the sunset.
wordcentered 2 years ago
It seems your every argument must fall back to one point. I'm not a christian/faithful person so I cannot understand what you believe. The problem with this argument is that I was a christian for 15 years. I understand faith, belief, the bible and it's flaws quite well. I eventually realized that 'Faith' is nothing but a euphemism for cognitive dissonance. It's giving yourself permission to not think about a topic that's uncomfortably nonsensical. Care to say I was never a true christian?
cyxgun 2 years ago
You are still a Christian if you confessed Jesus as Lord and believed that God raised Him from the dead. You have incorruptible seed in you. That will never change. What you choose to do with your thoughts is another story.
If you don't believe in God you certainly do not believe in a Devil. Yet he is the evil behind the corruption of true Christianity as defined by the 7 church epistles (there were actually no Christians in the gospels period).

How do U know which words R of God and which R of man?
There R many translational errors & manipulations of scripture by the fathers of the early church.
R U aware how the 4 Canonical gospels (M, M, L, & John) were actually chosen for inclusion into the NT?
Cootabux 2 years ago
You reply does not surprise me in the least. The Bible was not written for the skeptic, non-believer, or the infidel. It was written for men and women who want answers. The truths of God's Word will always be foolishness to any and all who do not have the spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
wordcentered 2 years ago
Umm, you didn't answer Cootabux question." R U aware how the 4 Canonical gospels (M, M, L, & John) were actually chosen for inclusion into the NT?"
glazinq 2 years ago
What is the purpose of your question? Do you already have your answer or do you really want to know mine?
I find that many unbelievers and unbelieving believers just want to fight and argue their point. Go ahead and argue. I know what I believe and why I believe it. And I sleep well at night.
wordcentered 2 years ago
The purpose of my question? Well I am genuinely interested in what motivates people to accept a certain dogma or doctrine, often despite overwhelming evidence that it has been contrived and often blatantly falsified, This applies to adherants of all religions. People often refer to the Bible as "the word of God" while quoting one of Paul's letters to one of the various groups following the then new religion. To me they are the words of Paul, later canonised by the Romans in Nicea. Simple really.
glazinq 2 years ago
There was a lot that was done in the name of God at Nicaea that has absolutely nothing to do with Christianity. It has everything to do with religion. However, true Christianity is not a religion, but the way of a Father with His children. And Gos ius love. And the God loves you. I find out about this God in the Bible.
Atheism is a religion. It is man's worship of his intellect. It is a way which seems right to a man. It will end in more questions. God has answers. It is up to you. Did you pick?
wordcentered 2 years ago
Actually, what happened at Nicea has EVERYTHING to do with modern Christianity whether you realize it or not. This includes your beliefs. As for Christianity not being a religion...well that's a new one! And intellect is not to be worshiped it is to be USED, something which, unfortunately, religions tend to discourage (lest the fraud be revealed). What's that...God wants us to use our intellect...just not to use it too much...? Yes, I did pick, intellect wins!
glazinq 2 years ago
Ah, you presume too much about my beliefs. I don't buy what councils have decided about God, I choose to believe His Word. There is fraud in religion, like atheism, not true Christianity. I hope you are using your intellect, since it is to be used.
And what does intellect win? An argument? If that is it I really feel sorry for you. If you use your intellect to build a hospital and at least you'll do something good with it. Instead you are surfing YouTube to spew your bile. Is that intelligence?
wordcentered 2 years ago
Well, like most religious zealots you are clearly deluded. If that makes you happy then good luck to you, just don't expect rational intelligent people to buy into your fantasy and do not be so quick to judge others. By the way, you never did answer Cootabux's original question. To do so would mean admitting that what you call "the word of God" is no such thing. It is the word of man pure and simple with all the inconsistencies and contradictions one would expect. Intellect tells me so.
glazinq 2 years ago
Who is the religious zealot? You came after me. But then, atheism is a religion. A religion of self. Enjoy intellect! Tell it "hello" for us.
wordcentered 2 years ago

Breathe slowly and deeply for a few seconds and state your point clearly. I have no idea what you are getting at.
My point is this: God's Word is true. What man adds is not.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

free2bfierce 3 years ago
