  • High Voltage looked to the wii not with prejudicers eyes... I think nintendo should approach much more to high voltage. I really apreciated their support.

  • i love high voltage software, they made lego racers, that game made my childhood

  • ngc tech demo looks better

  • It's impressive that they could do something like this on the Wii. They're pretty talented. So let's see a Quantum4 Engine on Wii U. If they can pull this off on Wii, what can they do with Wii U?

  • @lordrath2000

Q3:A engine on wii that mimics 360 graphics.

Q4: hyper realistic graphics with no hud on wiiu

    XD

  • I saw this and was like "not bad."

I went and saw the CryEngine 3 video.

I came back here and then lol'd.

  • @SilentPhenomed Maybe because the CryEngine 3 is not designed for the wii?

  • Almost 300K views!

  • My goodness, the presenter spits out more technobabble than the one for Unreal Engine 3's tech demo.

  • @xenol he is simply an idiot, he feels proud of a cheap engine designed for the Wii.

    Is pathetic.

  • @LilProveInn yea uuuum this engine was used to make the grinder, a game that can fit much more then 60 enemies on screan at a time without a single framerate issue, while maintaining good relfections textures lighting and shading. how is that cheap?

  • @LilProveInn oh yeah look at the @TheMikeman63 comment, try to battle more than 60 enemies on screen with xbox games...

  • @xenol

The video is meant to market the engine to other developers who may wish to license it. Those developers don't want to hear "Look, we can make pretty stuff like this, and this, and this." They want to hear what you call the "technobabble."

  • Halo 2, Timesplitters 3, and Black are all last generation games that look better than the Conduit.

  • @Segador128 not really i have all 3 of them

  • Kinda weak

  • wow is the wii ran off windows 3.1?

  • If we would use this game engine on all games then people might stop complaining about crappy graphics.

  • How many months before did they start on this engine? If it took them more then one year for this then other devs making games with shitty graphics on wii is excusable but if not then theres no excuse that such a small developer found out how to use TEV instead of bitching about no pixel shaders and shit.

  • @HeroOfWinds007 Yeah, Factor 5 was talking about it since the Wii was out but it's great to see some kind of company USE that knowledge. They figure, if they can't port the game directly, then they should cheap out with a Ps2 engine that requires no TEV programming since the Wii can do it in its sleep.

  • funny to see xbox flame slaves me and my friends love to laugh at them :] but anyway i cant wait for conduit 2 =D

  • @pbb8240 me too man.... me too

  • and on the second frame they are only required to code/buy:

Flash (it's commercial & they need something that can import and display it. imho this system would cause a major framerate hit)

    Cinema tool (wtf is that?)

Global illumination/shadow maps/self shadowing/soft shadows for all the types of lights listed (although there are free examples of this common tech on the web)

  • lol, few can boast our advanced tech my a-s.

The only things on that list you can't get for free are:

Hierarchical State Machines (you have to code it up, but it's highly trivial)

Save/Load system (once again, coding, but seriously? every game has this)

Streaming Resources (any game with a medium sized map has this)

Integrated Profiling (ambiguous, but most games have a "debug-mode" or "profiling mode")

  • hahahahah this looks like shit compared to cryengine unrela engine 3 or frostbite to name a few

this has to be a joke "this is the actual engine with no post pro-ductiion" ...it looks shitty

look up the cryengine 3 demo or the id tech 5 demo for fuck sake

  • @GinGeeK They never said it would beat the cryengine or over stuff. It's just showing some effects possible on Wii. If your're that butthurt over the quantum 3 engine, then just stick to playing Crysis or other games.

  • 0:46 , I wonder if he's referring to the TEV(Texture Environment Unit) found in both Gamecube's Flipper GPU & Wii's Hollywood GPU which require a lot of custom coding in order to achieve high end effects.

Usually this would mean most devs didn't even bother cause it took to much time/effort/money and would pass it off the two consoles not being powerful enough to to so 'such & such' effect when they are infact more than capable.

just an observation by how he says it at 0:46

  • "the interview entitled to suffer as we technology down."

  • boston style bomb lighting

  • Omg all of you please turn the audio transcription ON! You won't stop laughing--- nazis, obama and more!

  • @matey27

I have no fucking idea what you're writing. Learn how to not type like a retard.

  • sa va quand la wii et bien exploité on a des resultat asser joli ; )

  • Whats the reason for the conduit not looking like this then?

  • @leonzchannelz Time pressure for the release, or not enough or capable art direction, or both.

  • funny, because this isnt in the game i have the game right next to me

  • You should watch this with audio transcription on.

    0:33 - 0:41

Mm-hmm this complex and violent seizures of vast number of real side effects including in Iraq did not handle arsenio issue where we always elections in which a fraction

  • @ChaosLord121 lol.

  • @ChaosLord121

I dont see the thing to do it :(

  • @ChaosLord121 Non chinese surfaces like lost in me,

  • i dont get this Vid what are they trying to ay about the Wii Tech? some talk to me about it =]

  • its talking about the quantum 3 game engine. their pretty much saying that they are some of the only developers that can pull off "good" graphics on the wii. and the term "tech" is a refference to the capabilities of the game engine.

  • The Conduit does some pretty impressive things, but the actual artistry is kind of sucky. HV wasted fillrate on things such as massive amounts of bloom lighting in the explosions. Textures themselves in some cases were extremely high in some places where you wouldn't notice since 480p isn't high enough to properly display the entire texture unless very close up.

  • @mobius1aic I shpould have put some wood textures on the cars, and pink, everywere! because is how i see the world, but whit nude girls, whit cesarean scars

  • Cool. Now why does half of The Conduit look like crap, even with this engine?

  • because made the engine took more time, they practically dont work in the game

  • @vanisherg

cause the conduit had good graphics but plain design, graphics can look as good as who knows wht but without design it can still look like crap, if u want example of a game with good graphics AND design look at a game liek legend of zelda windwaker, the design was cel-shaded beauty tht worked incredibly well for it and since it was made by nintendo was very polished with lil room for gltches and the like and it can compare wit games today just look it up and see :)

  • Exactly, but most developers dont have the money to make great graphics on the wii. But High Voltage is doing a fantastic job.

  • High voltage should make Megaman Legends 3

  • High Voltage can't be the only company to discover uses for Wii's 24 million Polys per second. If you Graphic desgn and don't know how to utilize 24 Million polys, you got problems.

  • Dude, The wii can handle a lot more than 24 million polygons. More like 400 million. Its just going to be a lot harder for developers to do this.

  • @Phil3Pill I'm sorry guys but in real world performance the console cannot show that many polygons.

The average scene on the HD consoles is like 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 polygons on screen.

While for the Gamecube or Wii it's somewhere around 100,000 or 200,000.

If it could show that many millions of polygons on screen The Conduit wouldn't have needed things like normal maps lol.

  • @Shoujoboy51 Even HD consoles use normal maps. Normal maps/bump maps are used for the fine detail that would otherwise require much higher polygon counts. Also normal maps can be used to smooth out curved surfaces that are made with only so many polygons.

  • @mobius1aic I know that but at the same time the HD consoles can push exponentially more polygons and get detail that's only possible through normal mapping on the Wii maybe impossible simply because of the massive amount of polygons. Let's get it straight 30,000 polygons on a character is 30,000 polygons normal mapping won't change that. HD Consoles just have the brute force to display that many.

  • @Shoujoboy51 True, but it's still important to take note that the PS3, 360 and PC are just as dependent on shaders that include bumpmapping and normal mapping if not more so. Not because they can do it, but because everyone already does. Devs need to stay graphically competitive. Wii devs don't really have too except in certain high profile titles. Even Metroid Prime 3 doesn't have have bump or normal mapping (but it does have very good lighting), as least nothing I could tell as such.

  • @mobius1aic Yeah. I never said it they weren't. I know that lol. They do it because it adds a level of fidelity otherwise unattainable through regular means.

  • Comment removed

  • I bet all the developers that claimed the Wii couldn't do the same effects as the Xbox must hate High Voltage for this tech demo, because it exposes them as liars.

  • Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

  • After buying and playing the conduit, it made me realize something about the wii that's true. It doesn't need graphics As long at it looks beautiful, then the graphics are beautiful. For example, take this game for example, and compare it to metroid prime 3. I just know I would rather play an artistically beautiful well designed game like MP3, compared to the conduit for which its framrate suffers because of 12 high textured chairs. Not to mention it has nothing unique. But i still support them

  • i like to see the conduit as a shader demonstration, like the first time i played it i was like "are they allowed to do that with particles?!"

  • what do you mean?

  • i meen that the wii uses great shaders that are better than any used in any other wii games. i think that high voltage is just showing off what they can do

  • Yeah, The Conduit mostly suffers from a bad art-style. Twilight Princess looks gorgeous because of its art-style, it masks graphical limitations when done correctly. High Voltage proved they can make a technically good looking Wii game, but they need to match it with art-style.

  • totally agree. the conduit's art-style is really bland, and a little cartoonish

  • Atleast a company is finally using the TEV to its fullest, they just need to work on their art-style a bit. I'm sure they could make something that looks very similar to a 360 game with this engine, if they work on it.

  • @MetroidJunkie2007 oh heck yeah... and who ever was in charge of designing the environments should be fired... I think they should get the most a-hole gamers to play the game... (about 10~15 people) have them play a demo of the game's online for about a whole day, and at the end of it, have them give their honest feed back... because imo this game would have been 1000x better had they had better online/environments... the online alone killed it...

  • I think a great game to take a look at it for environments is Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. I agree with IGN. It does more with the geometry than many 360/Ps3 games. Also, as for the online, friend codes need to die.

  • this game is lots of fun

  • Wii is a very good console the only bad thing is that the good games are only adaptations or extended games(Ps3,Xbox & Wii)

but look at this, its a unique game for the wii and look

this is trying to tell us that the wii is very capable in good games. Not only for Graphics, but for gameplay and replay value

  • they did a good job of the water but the other consoles especially ps3 have better graphics for pretty much everything else other than refractive water

but don't get me wrong I the wii is nevertheless selling more.

  • man think this

People Always say that the wii have shit graphics, but dude LOoK aT this game

this is a unique game for the wii not for ps3 or xbox

Now the focused all their power in one game and look this results

  • this demo doesnt look nice but the actual games and the upcoming games have awesome graphics

  • the conduit's graphics disappointed me. they looked a bit cartoony. i was expected visuals comparable to 360 and PS3 games, and that's not what i got :(

  • @nerftendo005 The Wii CANNOT run graphics like Killzone 2. This is fact.

  • well pull out the number of lights. Use the s3tc technology (6:1= the wii can compress 6 times it size) from 52mb of it's 88 memory gives us 312mb compress texture. program the game to enable real time shadow casting when near the camera, enable global illumination and HDR. bring the resolution to 480i/p. there you got something similar.

  • wii doasnt support HDR, the closest a game on wii has come to HDR is the conduit which just added a "fog/blur" shader near ceratain light sources. and i still dont see a method of dynamic shadows that is supported on wii. finally as i said to gunmaster the wii can only have 8mb of textures on screen. dont get mad at me im just fact checking

  • yes it has hdr. it was confirm by on a forum beyond3d. and you mean cache. i heard the wii has 2mb z buffer & 1mb texture cache

  • wii uses "fake HDR" to use real HDR you must have pixel shaders 3.0 or better but the wii doasnt support pixel shaders so it mimics hdr with "fake HDR". as for textures im pretty sure its a buffer since i havent seen any wii games with more than 8megs of textures on screen at once

  • @buddysmithburg , what is a texture buffer? I've googled, "what is a texture buffer" and haven't found a result that tells me...

  • a texture buffer is a limit to how many Mb of textures can be on screen. example: if your texture bufferis 10mb then you cannot have more than 10 mb of textures on screen

  • @GunmasterLombardi

that is an understatement. everybody knows that ps3 has WAY BETTER graphics than wii. but there are much better wii games out there. MetroidJunkie2007 is right. it's just bad art-style; the conduit has a bland, cartoonish art-style.

  • @nerftendo005 I have a Wii. I'm sure Ninty can replicate Killzone 2 if they wanted to but they're making great sales w/o it. I've seem Galaxy, Metroid Prime Trilogy and Muramasa. All great artstyles, best looking games for Wii w/ no lag. The Quantum3 Technology is capable of great things, but even w/ the right artstyle you can't replicate something that looks just like something good on an HD platform.

Ninty (Nintendo) could do it, but they don't need to and that's too bad.

  • and plus this engine isnt finished yet so when the conduit 2 comes out it will probably look wayyy better than this

  • no matter how much i love the wii this is a fact mainly due to textures. the wii can load alot of textures but it only has a 1mb texture buffer unless you disable 480p. last time i checked the wii uses 8:1(s3) texture compression. that meens the wii can only display 8mb of textures which is far below what is needed for games like KZ2.

  • @nerftendo005

You can't expect a Wii game to look like a hd console game dude. I really appreciate the job HVS has done, but there's no way in fucking hell that Wii does anything close to Xbox or PS graphics. But I'm pretty confident they could do some of the lower end Xbox games on Wii, without hd. Halo3 is a possibility, for one. Take out some of the incredible lighting and violla, there you go. Halo3 Wii.

  • @ReTr093 but have you seen metroid prime 3 on wii? zelda: twilight princess? super mario galaxy? red steel 2? those games look WAY BETTER than the conduit. even RE4, which was ported from the gamecube (as well as zelda: TP), looks better. and did you notice how bland the walls looked? some environments look like they came from the n64 era.

  • Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like

  • the game engine looks but the walls on the conduit needed work.

  • One programmer tells me Wii is a Xbox with a crappier video card, another says it's superior to Xbox. This tells me it's all down to down to their confidence and competence.

  • A Wii is certainly more powerful than an original Xbox but in terms of graphical prowess, not as powerful as a 360.

  • i think we all knew that at least 2 years ago

  • i read an article on console benchmarks that stated that the wii has roughly 1/3 of an xbox 360.

  • whats this game rated? t or m?

  • T....

  • this isn't a game, this is a demonstration

  • it may not be a game but every thing here (graphically speaking) is in the conduit.

  • no. i've played the conduit, and it looks a bit cartoony. it doesn't look very much like this

  • stupid sony fan boy

  • Dude, "this" isnt a game...

  • after playing and beating tcon on both multiplayer and campaign i realized its very lacking in many aspects. the single player mode maps are small and confined, the enemies are all the same and there arent enough weapons. the multiplayer mode lacks map freedom such as halo multiplayer maps, the fact you cant talk to random people is gay, and the server isnt strong enough for such a massive influx of players. there shouldve been a two player campaign and split screen multiplayer modes.

  • the conduit had good effects but overall the levels looked bland dull, and blurry. online was flickery and sometimes laggy too with cheaters and hackers present. and why did the rubble look so bad on the conduit too?

  • How so? How could they be worse if i downloaded them FOR FREE. Than if i were to buy it.

  • I'm POTATO, Friend Me!

    1032 - 9475 - 9766

  • Anyone else really hope the next Zelda Wii has these graphics?

  • lol, I'm watching this through my wii

  • this should be the wii graphics standard for all wii games

  • they have all the phisics right but the graphics still arnt good

  • Soy {3} Khí3 leader of Team {3}

Everyone add mi 1763-0544-3371 and I will accept your Friend Request.

  • why do people say "oh he talked with a "british accent"

it aint british its english get it right. its the london accent. jeez americans

  • True. Americans over react about this stuff. Also, If a survey was conducted, I bet it would say that ONLY americans would fight over which console was the best. And yes I know it's a very dumb subject to fight over, those people should actually get some excersise. If your american, please encourage your friends to change the way they act, unless they're sensible! lol don't take this seriously peeps, and over react about my opinion.

  • plz watch my review of the conduit

  • hey if anyone wants to play online with me just PM me ..we can exchange friend codes :D

  • everyone is like teasing me lol, this game supose to be awesome but Sega decided to set it back to july 10th for me

  • They changed the date to 10 july in europe, I dunno why :S

  • July 16th i just found out for me in Australia :(

  • because of the language issues or something like that

  • Language issues is the biggest bull crap exscuse for game companies. We speak ENGLISH in America, you speak ENGLISH in Australia. You speal ENGLISH in Europe. I mean WTF?! Hopefully they mean there's a problem with coding in different regions...

  • haha. Michael Ford .. with an australian accent

  • haha, he starts talking British too. Bloody hell! Micheal the queen is doomed!

  • haha automatic win

  • haha, well wheres my trophy? After all I saved the UK from the bloody aliens, golly, I need some biscuits!

  • came out on june 23rd in us

  • thats why isaid to people stop teasing , use get to play it, then i have to drool over it for a month, im still waiting for punch out lol

  • could be better

  • come join my clan for the conduit i have a super huge clan msg me if u wanna join

  • The Conduit + Gladiation + Grinder = High Voltage Software = Nintendo´s new Rare.

  • wow man, i was thinking the exact same thing xD

  • except Nintendo doesnt own them.

  • Thats why I said NEW Rare -.-

  • Nintendo owned Rare.

  • What ever. Now, you seem to be a pready warm-hearted guy with a clean soul, so give me your Wii number and we will play Conduit online side-by-side in 3 weeks. I will lead us to victory, young one. My number is: 6249-5648-1513-7338

  • ok ill add you.

  • Uhhm, yeah, but, I need your code as well ^^

  • it's on my channel.

  • This game looks fucking sweet i cant wait for this to come out!

  • this isn't part of a game this is just an example

  • hey can somone please tell me why they used roman armour do demonstrate plz reply

  • i guess, because at that time they had the idea of gladiator A.D. in mind. If you dont know what Gladiator AD is, it's one of the two new wii titles that High Voltage is working on.

  • what does he say in the end? please see a Narf singer?

  • I think, for Wii, nintendo have the best game engine. just look zelda or smash bros brawl..

  • those games look nice but the conduits graphics look nicer, i think better examples wouldve been mario galaxy and metroid prime 3 which by far have the best graphics on wii so far.

  • I want High Voltage to make more Wii games. This has brought hope to me. I thought the Wii would not be capable to produce these graphics.

  • The Conduit is coming out June 23rd and they are working on games called The Grinder & Gladiator A.D. !! Check them out !

  • no it ships june 23rd so that means 1-3 days before release...sorry for let down

  • normally when it's the ship date it comes out the same day. for me anyway.

  • I have to say, while most would disagree, I would much rather the 360 and PS3 use THIS engine for most games lol......because with THIS engine, there's no over-use of bump mapping, no same-color lighting effects, no overly-shiny textures...etc etc.

Just seems like most games nowadays (Excluding Wii Titles) have similar to same graphics styles, I be missin' the N64 days ;p.

  • They made The Conduit based on any current FPS, they are going somewhere with Gladiator AD and making a Grindhouse style Left 4 Dead with The Grinder, for their next trick I reckon they should bring something similar to Dead Rising to the Wii. They have the power.

  • Ha, they do have a Dead Rising for the wii buddy, its called Dead Rising: Chop till' you drop

  • It's not the same game as the original version though with it being based on RE4's gameplay engine. Years ago techie types on sites like Beyond 3D forums debated if Wii could handle the original and came to the conclusion the gameplay was simple enough to replicate on another engine and now say the RE4 engine was the worst possible choice used purely as a PR stunt.

  • this game looks awesome I am going to buy it

  • I bet this is a scene from Gladiator A.D. ... B)

  • so in ENGLISH the games supposed to have good graphics

  • lol, yes.

  • imagine this... when this vid was made, the engine was still being made and this is jus a demo.. so imagine what it will look like when its finish

  • yea totally. I was wishing for search and destroy cuz thats really fun

  • dang if the wii have this good of graphics then why is most the games have some shitty graphics. I may never know

  • because third party developers are LAZY

look at metroid prime 3, its a good example of how graphics should be on the wii

  • due to devopers not working on the engine (like cod 5 the same a s 360 and ps3 but they took off mutiple stuff that can work on wii) but most just want to make a profit.
