Steve was way ahead of the curve--the funniest jocks had to be 'on' for hundreds of hours a year, his timing and wit we're better than most professional comedians, and he was Rock and Roll, AND he was Chicago--what 's not to like? I'm not surprised at the dolts out there who still don't get it--Howard Stern is waiting for them.
there's people out there who don't think this is funny? steve was/is a legend in radio. he did more to open listeners' ears to the behind-the-scenes mechanics of your favorite stations and the corporate scumbags who run them than anyone. he makes a point in this clip he's had to repeat over and over for years: disco demolition was a revolt against a RICH ELITIST COKED-UP WHITE LIFESTYLE, not against blacks or gays. if you remember 1979, you know what i mean.
zoetropez says she was raped at a disco club, but her profile says that she is 33.....hmmmm, somebody might be lying here..... Either shes NOT 33 or she's simply making stories up....sounds like someone that likes to stir the pot to me..... Btw - steve dahl is Famous for destruction of records, - that is no claim to fame. Its easy to destroy, the real work is in creation.
You Dahl, you're such a big ugly blimp farmer redneck loser, no wonder you didn't like DISCO, no women in their right minds would want to be seen with you in public. You probably smell of cowhide and cheap cologne. You couldn't learn how to dance even if you wanted to.
Because he chose to act like a loser by encouraging the destruction of Disco records. He's no legend, he couldn't compete with the "IN" Crowd of The Studio. The Studio is PARADISE and only the "SELECT PEOPLE" could get in. Obviously he couldn't get in. Now tell me, which girl in their right mind would want to be seen with such a Ratty Looking Guy?????????
First off, this was the 70's, were you born in 94 or something? Secondly, thats the whole point is the rejection of the popular in crowd. Have you ever listened to his radio show or do you just go out of your way to find problems with people?
I am not born in 1994, my cat is. I am a Disco Lover who evolved in the 80's musically. His rejection of the "IN" crowd is idiotic, it's obvious he thinks he's above people who enjoy dressing up and dancing to a good beat. Disco was entertaining and brought people with the same goal together. He's just pissing on their parade because he's an inept dancer, has no sense of style and is overweight. He's a bloody ignorant narrow-minded individual.
"Disco was entertaining and brought people with the same goal together. " What exactly was that goal? Cocaine abuse? The spread of AIDS? Because the "beautiful people" definitely got this done. I wouldn't pay to go anywhere with a red velvet rope. In my experience as a member of the press, VIP rooms are normally crawling with douchebags and wannabes, hangers-on and did I already say douchebags?
What an ignorant individual you are. Not everybody did coke or were sleaze balls. I never even tried Coke so I guess my peers didn't have such an influence on me. Dancing to a good beat and meeting people who enjoyed having a good time without being wasted was what I liked. One doesn't have to go out to a club to be a douchebag or a cokehead. As a member of the press you're probably a wannabe, leech, overweight slut who sucked enough...C.....to get into the VIP rooms.
I was however raped by some of these coked-up bastards. I guess in your eyes, I had it coming, eh? You are a classless piece of trash, doing nothing to improve the image of disco fans. I am an entertainment critic, so I've met a lot of "celebrities," 90 % of whom I wouldn't give the time of day to if I weren't on the clock. But they love worship-junkies like you.
You CHOSE A PROFESSION that puts you in direct contact with these "celebrities", what's to think of your choice? I never hung around with coked up IDIOTS and chose not to have them among my friends. There are wholesome people who just care to ENJOY THE MUSIC & DANCE to a good beat, none of my friends acted like sleaze balls or made fools of themselves, of course none of us did drugs or were looking for a piece of ass. I am sorry for what happened to you, you were with the wrong crowd.
Actually, I was doing an investigation on a club that was selling drugs and had something slipped into my bottle of water and gang-raped by these"friendly, wholesome" coked-up friends of yours. Of course, I am to blame in your book, no doubt. The great thing is I was also stabbed in the face--an attempt to disfigure me so I would be too embarrassed to prress charges. So, yes, I am probably considered "ugly" to you now, despite being a working runway model while I was a teenager.
Um, yeah. You seem to be the ignorant, narrow-minded one if you can't see the humor in this and don't realize it was all a joke and a genius idea for publicity.
Mancow made a big deal of mocking Steve going off the air at Jack FM. These clips show just how awesome Steve was and is. Mancow doesn't have shit on him. When the two year contract is up we'll be waiting for the next place he lands and loving every minute of his new venture. We fuckin love you Steve.
Now we have rap and hip-hop along with de-evolving videos on MTV with lyrics promoting murder, violence and racism. Thanks Steve for focusing your creative energies to help destroy that awful white boy disco shit!
I saw this interview when it first aired too. Steve is a very funny and creative guy. When he talks about the insane coho lips, although my memory might not be serving me right about this over the years since I've never heard anyone else mention this anywhere, I seem to recall his radio partner Garry as the one who came up with the 'lips' part, inspired by a funny looking pic he saw of Chicago mayor Jane Byrne at the time. The insane and coho parts Steve came up with, as he mentions in this vid.
GOD, THAT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOO FUNNY!!!! Snyder was awesome on that show, and having Meatloaf and Steve Dahl on together was absolute GENIUS!!!! That has to be one of the best Tommorrow show interviews...
Wow, Steve was really on his game for this interview. He always had such a wit about him, so quick too. Really he still is even though age, maturity, and sobriety may have changed him somewhat, I still think he's as funny as he's ever been. Glad you posted this stuff, thanks.
THAT'S THE DOUCHE WITH ADD WHO KILLED DISCO
