I could see legalizing weed strictly for medicinal purposes, but it's ignorant for people to ask for legalization when they just smoke it for fun. How would people drive and work when intoxicated? It dulls the mind and puts you in a fog. I agree it's a much safer alternative than cigarettes because it's natural but smoking is bad regardless of what it is.

Personally I don't know any. Just because you make it legal doesn't mean everyone will suddenly be high all the time! As for smoking, yes it's bad for you HOWEVER you don't need to smoke cannabis. You can eat it or vapourize it. 2/3 of people use alcohol regularly - doesn't mean they are pissed all the time!

@mackinnon182 Yes, you've made some good points. Regardless though, I would never advise any drug use whether through ingesting, oral or inhalation unless for medical use. One thing I find intriguing though is how people say,"Weed can't cause addiction. It's harmless and has no effect." If it had no relative impact on the brain and nervous system and doesn't cause addiction, why would people use it and refuse when asked to not smoke weed?

I would also not advise anyone to take a drug recreationally. I think they should have the right to choose, however. Cannabis can be addictive in a psychological way, it is impossible to be strongly physically dependant on it because it doesn't trigger the reward path in the brain - this is when you induce the production of dopamine. As to why they don't stop when asked, because it feels good and is overall less dangerous than a macdonalds meal...

In saying that, you can become psycologically addicted to lots of things. Sex, exercise, food, sleeping. I really think the government is out to promote death. Fatty foods, cigarrettes and alcohol are abused everyday and kill thousands (or millions). Also "Cannabis is a dangerous drug" they say. Most prescription drugs are FAR more dangerous, more addictive and provide less medicinal benifit than cannabis.

@mackinnon182 I have family who live out in the country. Sure, they smoke and drink. However, they also never eat fast food, don't have city water, they have farms, and make their own food. They're in their 50's and they could probably outrun some city-raised teenagers. So, there's two sides to every story. I never said weed/smoking should be illegal. Like you said, it's deserves to be a choice for people.

Our Air quality, water quality, fda regulations, preservatives and hydrogenated oils(trans fats). If it was my choice I'd outlaw the use of preservatives and trans-fats and synthetically altered oils(would undoubtedly put some companies out of business). Of course that would never pass congress haha. It's a free country and people can eat themselves to sickness.

This looks at Cannabis and the individual, cannabis smoke does not cause cancer even though it posses double the carcinogens. Its a cancer preventative in reality, and pot smoker lungs are of the same condition as non smokers. Look it up yourself.
