To anyone making negative comments, please post video's of your own perfomances so we can see how you do Kata, then we can see what yardstick you use to make your judgements, also Ohtsuka Sensei in these video's is an old man, please show respect, I wonder how many of us will have millions of students world wide folowing our styles of karate?

God you people have no CLUE about real karate if you are disrespecting THIS man!!
Saying you could make a 10th Dan in his style is rubbish, if you learnt karate how he learnt it (not focusing on perfect competition style kata but brutal ways of kata) then you wouldnt last a week im sure.
The reasons his kata dont look as nice as modern kata is because the focus was on function not form, and plus he is quite old here. Otsuka sensei knew the bunkai of the katas he practiced.
Have a look at Mr Suzuki's Jitte--only one Teisho. Wado is so fragmented that there seem to be a number of varieties. I have been taught by Tatsuo Suzuki for 25 years. He was taught by Ohtsuka. I think Suzuki Sensei does make changes every now and then from the original moves. There is no doubt Ohtsuka is doing 3 Teisho's and Sukuki only one.

If you ask anyone who was trained under Otsuka, Hironori, they would admit that this man taught and changed kata regularly. Change is normal in kata.

Kata is not about looking nice and smooth and all .. its about applying techniques in combat .
This man , though his age ,is still capable of breaking a man into pieces ..

Interesting how the kata has evolved - I think only one teisho rather than the 3 on the video.
As to the previous comments they are not worthy of a response as they show a starting ignorance.

I practice shotokan and we still do the 3 teishos, do you only do one?
