That's my favorite part in the musical, and with Billie Joe singing it, it's even more amazing, if it's possible. I just love how Rebecca's voice is mixed up with Billie Joes and how they create this atmosphere of romance and sadness at the same time. Awesome as fuck.

when I heard, I couldn't really see this working, I just thought "oh, it'll be Billie Joe Armstrong PLAYING Billie Joe Armstrong" and although I'm a fan, I'm interested by the character of St Jimmy, not really of 'Billie Joe the Singer'... HAVING SAID THAT, He's bloody brillant at it! Because he created the character, he's obviously got a really good grip of how it should be played... I think St Jimmy is kind of playful in many ways, and Billie Joe plays that!

Yes, he is an alter ego, but there is (in the show) a sort of different implication as well. Even Billie Joe had mentioned this before the show debuted. It is meant to be able to be read on multiple levels, just like the record itself.
