This should be released as a 3D classics game,as it looks quite good. They did it with original Excitebike,so I don't see why they can't do it with this version.
@erikouwehand internet's been on consoles since the early 90s (xband). but mostly for downloading only. there was also the famicom modem in the 80s, too.
XBand wasn't online, at all. It was a gamer-to-gamer network. It wasn't on the internet. The closest it got was being able to send email to Aol users. Nor was it able to download anything beyond the daily news, magazine, and your mail. Unless you want to count other gamer's profiles.
@Draknfyre Well, to be technical, xband was a device to play people over long distances, access email, and download information through a single location when it dialed a special number. that's pretty much like a VPN. sorry I was dumbing it down too much for you.
I was actually on the XBand network. A VPN or not, it still was not connected to the internet. That's like saying you have your own personal roadway that's on your own land, and it's not connected to the roadways in any way. However it's part of the highway system.
@erikouwehand As far as I know, Super Famicom (SNES in Japan) owners needed the Setellaview hardware in order to receive these broadcasts. They also needed to subscribe to the service, similar to how Xbox Live charges players a rate for full access. Satellaview would receive signals from a broadcast company, and these signals would be unscrambled and become playable games and other interactive bits of software that the player would access on the Super Famicom, all without leaving the house.

Yes, you're right. The characters voices are taken from Mario Kart 64. Well spotted.
