A7X = melodic metalcore, not very well done imo.

BFMV = combination of metalcore and emo/screamo. This is a fact, anyone who says it isn't true is retarded.

Killswitch Engage = melodic metalcore

Atreyu = melodic metalcore influenced by alternative rock

Black Sabbath = traditional doom metal

Pantera = groove metal, not thrash metal, or as some people like to say tRash metal.

Metallica = thrash metal.

But at one point or another, all these bands were considered metal. They don't have to have horrendous vocals and horrible instrumentals to be metal, like some bands out there such as Cannibal Corpse. It's all about the Riffs and the breakdowns.
