  • It is FALSE to claim there was no looting in Japan.

  • Great video.

  • kevin said that there was no looting so what is this ha!!!!???

    watch?v=s9qfHQllons watch?v=u9zRc6z8JbU

  • @GreetingsFrmDublin Oh, You mean like when a soccer or hockey team wins the championship and their fans riot, flipping cars and breaking windows? Like that? yeah I know what you mean. Lets blame the blacks and browns while the WHITES that run the world economy loot EVERYONES bank accounts, retirement, savings and any hope of leaving something for our children. The real question is why do you overlook those crimes with global consequences, yet demonize an entire culture for a local riot?

  • Everything was contaminated with RADIATION!!!

  • I was in the military and the japanese are looters the yazuki mob keeps the people from doing things like that. Thats all there is to it. You guys making it way more than what it really is, which is control by fear. Just like religion

  • Koreans are famous as looters in Japan.

  • they are koreans in japan

    Remember Pearl Harbor!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Now these niggers are doing flash mobbing I wish these nig nogs would start flash mobbing out here on LI cause the only flash they would see would be out the end of my ar15 6.8. Bitch ass punks

  • It has nothing to do with "culture".

Are you all watching the Liberal mind at work?

The great lengths one go's to avoid pointing at the obvious Elephant in the room.....*cough*Race*cough* *cough*Australia/New Zealand's lack of looting and lack of migrants*cough*

Overwhelming the stupidity these people spew, while hes out in a homogeous nation playing 'the last samurai', commenting on obvious issues whilst avoiding the real answer, pathetic.

  • @CelticAngloPress ALL LIBERALS SHOULD BE KILLED

  • So....all the ppl looting in great britain recently would apply too?

  • @demetriustracy

Its overwhelmingly obvious so I would suspect this is a Rhetorical question.

  • @CelticAngloPress : Australia/ New Zealand have no history of slavery**cough**no history of being striped of their humanity**no history of brutal lynchings by civilians**cough**no history of blatant inequality**cough**no history of fear based propaganda**cough**No history of forced medical experimentation**cough**no history of forced sterilization**cough**no history of burning small businesses**cough**no history of convict leasing**cough History holds the REAL ANSWER. pathetic indeed.

  • @bigtoine45

    /watch?v=IMjm4LxFa1c

"Whites own and run the banks and are robbing us all,oh noes"(not really, your black though and a yankee, so we can all guess where the ignorance is coming from, thankfully a few of you are actually bright enough to know the difference between light skin and race)

As for everything else you said, not only completely wrong, and ignorant to history, but also completely unrelated to what was said, third world migrants are flooding every corner regardless of history

  • @CelticAngloPress LACK OF MIGRANTS???????? ...the majority of our population is made of migrants.

and we dont loot because we cbf.

  • This is what happen in Brittan cops told the people protesting that as long as you say in your neighborhood you can do what you want, you can burn it down for all we care, take what you want we will look thee other way. For two day cop did nothing same thing happen in all poor neighborhood this brings business to there neighborhood

  • lame ikea closet .... and fuck starbucks

  • Remember that Japan had immediate response for the earth quake. They have it preplanned. Unlike in America where there is no plan for any natural disasters and it take weeks before a response. As a result the people become desolate and opportunistic.

Plus, Asian people don't like to be put on a pedestal. They hate it. Treating them like they're good at math, incapable of causing harm, etc. Asians hate that shit. They want to be respected too.

  • I have never seen looting in Africa either. There was massive flooding last month in Lagos-Nigeria and I didn't see any looting. Maybe it's a caucasian factor. In society like America the minorities feel so oppressed they normally become opportunistic. Even in Haiti's earth quake, the broadcasters praised the lack of looting in the country and the peacefulness. Most of the looting came weeks after the quake, some people started getting desperate with no government assistance unlike Japan.

  • because their are no black people

  • Comment removed

  • Japan is not a 3rd world cesspool of a country. just stating the obvious.

  • bullshit!!!

I heard those punk youngsters robbed atm during this earthquake crisis.

  • The Japanese government wants to buy up fish and other seafood from fishermen in Tohoku, package them and sell them to developing nations so that Tohoku can recover. THIS SUCKS. RACISTS JUST LIKE HITLER.

  • lol.

  • When people take food and water it's a way to survive. When you take tv's and air Jordans it's called looting

  • @OIFSpecOps JAPAN didn't take food or water, they got into single file lines and waited for their food. They are organised as fuck and us Americans could barely do that

  • You are INCREDIBLY annoying. Are you aware of this fact?

  • good for u whiteboy tht u can still enjoy ur starbucks.... if people are really hungry they will loot.... anyone without food will loot.... any1....

  • @josedeaztlan Yeah, because looting TV:s and such things is "really" food... stupid wetback...

  • Your fish suck

  • @tla123456 P.S your an idiot

  • Why Japanese NOT looting? Because majority of Japanese recognize that IT'S WRONG. Well to be honest, there were few who went around collapsed houses and stole money and items while no one was watching, which was very disappointing for us Japanese. Most of us were too busy thinking about our family and friends and no time to think about what we could steal from where....no.

  • Your fish are telepathically asking me to tell you that their tank is way too small.

  • There is a downside to that group mentality in Japan. They often fully trust their government which is not always a good thing vs america where people practically hate the government.

Now the thing i like about Scandinavia where im from is that it seems to mix this group and individual mentality. We are pretty homogeneous and we live in very socialist countries where we pay high taxes to support each other. Put people still look towards the government with caution.

  • This is a MYTH. I do not know why few of the looting reports made it into English language media, but there WAS AND IS looting. Purse snatchings have been at an all time high as well. Is the looting less than in America? Unknown as police have repeatedly said reported arrests represent only a tiny fraction of the actual looting.

  • @42317 that's not that racist. How about this one because there's no NIGGERS in japan!!!

  • @JetMechInJapan if you are saying there are no black people in japan you are sadly mistaken lol you obviously haven't been in japan so you speak out of ignorance. but to pose a question to you, are "niggers" the only ones who loot??? if niggers are the root of all evil why do white people or people of any race commit crimes??? didn't they say white people are superior??? too bad you're too stupid to see the big picture

  • Japan is almost all Japanese people. That's why there's no looting.

  • @TommyAK13

That is a pretty racist remark.

  • @42317 No, it's not racist to realize the truth and that race is a factor in many things. It just not PC. But people who know how to think for themselves and aren't brainwashed by the politically correct media, don't need to pretend race doesn't exist just so no one's feelings get hurt. The Japanese are a strong people, who have not been plagued with an influx of non Japanese immigrants, and that is why they functioned so well in this emergency. Think for yourself dude my God...

  • @TommyAK13 no no all wrong they are strong because they have not plagued anyone else. So what comes around gos around the US pretty much screwed everyone over and now their going to shit and now that they've pissed everyone off no ones going to help them.

  • @jlandkev You're cool. I do like your video but that's your opinions. That's all.

  • One might also argue about the massive wholesale rapes that happened in Haiti. Does anyone like to compare that with rape of Nanjing? Oh I'm sorry that was a war not a natural disaster. That doesn't count.

  • I've had my wallet lost many times in America since 1979. Each time my wallets were returned to me with all the money in it. But not recently. So What happened? Only logical answer is foreigners like me came to this country and ruined the good honest culture of America.

  • @dokkiro lol good and honest? let me explain something to you america is alot of things but not honest. making people slaves, not giving people equal rights, attacking people while wearing robes and hoods so you cowards can't be identified and dropping the h bomb and killing/seriously injuring 200,000 people + really? So now do you think america is good and honest? you just called yourself a foreigner so it would make your writing more believable but you can't fool me. so america fuck you.

  • @den20vip2 Actually I was being dead serious when I said that. When I had my wallet returned to me with all the money in it I really felt that I wouldn't be as honest as them. Americans that I've known didn't litter the streets. I'm from Korea and I've moved here when I was 14 back in 79. I still find wallets and I do keep that good honest traditions. America is not what it used to be. A lot of craziness violent crimes and drugs are common now. If you're angry about nuclear bombings of Japan...

  • @dokkiro sorry to tell you that america never was and never will be honest.

  • @den20vip2 You can goto Canada and that's pretty much the samething. You won't find a honest cheesehead.

  • @den20vip2 ..... If you're angry about nuclear bombings of Japan. I like to offer you an apology. I'm sorry even though I wasn't even born yet. If you're talking about KKK... They don't have any power at all in this country... Ronald Reagan not only compensated atomic victims of two bombs dropped on Japan they've also compensated former detainees of Japanese internment camps with an apology. America certainly isn't a perfect country but they do strides to be great and so do I.

  • @den20vip2 Since I've told you I'm Korean American I have a strong feeling that you'll begin to criticise Korea. Before you do I like you to read my comments defending Japan also. They're not hard to find.

  • I can also question inconsistency with rates of rapes. Japanese claim there're far more rapes commited in US than Japan. Legal age of sexual consent in US is 18. In Japan I do believes it's 13. Anyone having sex or even talk dirty to a girl under the age of 18 can be charged with rape or solicitation of sex with a minor and be a registered sex offender for life.

  • When you see Black people looting during Katrina disaster or Haiti they were the majority of the area effected by the disasters. I didn't see any Black people looting right after a big hockey event. Wait! I'm so sorry that doesn't count because it wasn't a disaster.

  • For all the racists here I must tell you. If there are Black people in Japan average Japanese are far more likely to loot than Blacks because they're far more likely to get away with it.

  • In Japan you pick up a lost wallet and don't report it to the police within minutes result is, at least hours of questionings at police station, at worst is a year in jail. There're award system that finders gets paid percentage of the value of the item found and if nobody claims the item then the finder gets to keep them. They would rather not even bother to pick it up because they're too busy to deal with it.

  • Your life depends on giving the right answer to this question. That's your frickin LIFE. Okay, so get it right, no second chances...

The primary differentiator in the behaviours of the people in post-disaster New Orleans and Japan was what?

My answer would start with r, be four letters long, and end in e.

Good night if you said culture, or some derivative thereof.

  • @deathpooper I heard the US is going to send 4000 niggers over to japan to teach them how to loot. I could just see dirty niggers running down the road with cases of cup a noddles and boxes of rice balls.

  • @OIFSpecOps white folks in katrina looted too i'm sure you seen in on CNN when it happen so shut the fuck up.

  • @OIFSpecOps I heard that you're a little bitch that's insecure and acts as a keyboard warrior to feel tough

  • Loot = nigger

  • zzzzzzzzzzzz..... You know why there is no looting in Japan! You Know!

  • why no looting? Two words... No ni__ars!

  • Its because they have no niggers.

  • Just for those who keep this crap going about Blacks, just google: "White looters in Iowa." Try that on for size.

  • Looters are not necessarily evil. If your child is freezing and starving you go out and get food and a blanket, even if it means theft, no matter how group- and harmony-oriented you are (unless you are a saint of sorts). The will to survive overrules moral doubts. But if disaster relief works and people quickly receive the barest necessities then there will be no looting. It's as simple as that.

Cultural factors are to be taken into account, but alone do not suffice.

  • @42317 i think culture plays into it a lot more than you think. your theory doesn't explain why looters often go for things like TVs and stereos. and what about situations like the rodney king or laker game riots? people here in the US resort to looting even when it is completely unnecessary.

  • @pumpkinman

Well, I did say that cultural factors ALONE did not sufficiently explain why there's no looting in Japan currently, so I wouldn't say "this is the reason" or "that is the reason". The multitude of psychological factors makes it too difficult a topic to dare give a conclusive explanation.

  • @42317 Do cultures make people, or do people make culture?

If we assume it to be mono-racial and sovereign (politically and economically), Japanese culture can only be a product of the Japanese people, right?

Even accounting for any supposed Haitian shortfall in these regards, is the relative impression left not significantly disfavourable?

So under any fair appraisal, can rape and robbery not be thought to be more inherent to the Haitian than the Japanese?

  • @thespacialone If you're talking about rapes and compare race, I can also throw a curve ball at you. Inside a jam packed Tokyo subway train during the rush hours how many incidents of perverts are inappropriately touching ladies? And how many will actually scream "pervert" in Japan? Would a pervert try to touch a Black lady inside the same train? No I think they know much better.

  • @thespacialone

Extreme living conditions produce extreme behavior. Haitians haven't had it easy for decades, while the Japanese have prospered in political and economic stability of the post-war period.

  • @42317 Did you even read what I wrote?

  • @42317 Very true and people have the nerve to judge.Sick!

  • @crazymike44 I would have helped you. I'll bet @1987bugsy would have too! Then we'd take u looting w us!

  • do you really have to be so racist amepobase? You seem like the type of person who would not think much about committing a crime just from your rude comment. It all comes down to respect. I am African American living in Japan and I feel more Japanese than AMerican just for the fact that there are many things about Japanese culture I understand.IN the USA its all about yourself or taking care of only yourself and having little respect for other people. That goes for Americans of all colors.

  • Looting happens when tragedy strikes. Maybe the Japanese are taken care of by their govt. So it doesn't occur to.take b/c they feel it will be provided. And stealing got your hand cut off.

  • @pheggie i was thinking the same thing, because people in haiti for example had gone days without food, i remember one person saying they had not eaten for a week or something like that. if japan was a poor country and it was the same as haiti i wonder if there would still be no looting. 1 day without food is bad enough any longer and i would lose it.

  • @pheggie not true. you are confusing japan with saudi arabia - japan doesn't have harsh punishments like that. secondly, your opinion does not explain the virtual lack of theft in the country. similar to what this guy was saying, my friend who was studying in japan forgot his laptop on the metro in tokyo and simply picked it up later that day when the train came around again. try doing that in LA or new york and see how long it takes for it to get stolen.

  • From my analysis of their culture and the time I've spent in Japan I've noticed that when a Japanese (or any asian) person does steal something (which happens almost never) they are practically disowned by their family and friends, sort of like a South African tribe member who contracts the Aids virus.

  • i've been saying this since i heard wolf from cnn make that ignorant comment live on tv. he asked if there was looting going on and i thought it was an ignorant question because japanese people do not loot. they have honor.

thx for this video. i'm canadian as well

  • Comment removed

  • @showandtell41, you probably dont know that there are crimes in japan, they kill, steal, loot too... Else, theres no use for police, and prison cells. No, not all japanese has a fat bank account. Are you kidding me?

  • @h2oreactor It's all down to the person's environment, does matter their race or religion. If you are living in scarcity or poverty, it forces the person to have the attitude that they must compete to survive. America has very low social mobility, very low equal spread of wealth = high crime rate, high drug use rate. In Japan there is a higher spread of wealth, better social mobility so people don't develop that mentality. If you live in an area where you have little to no money you will steal

  • @tkjp999

That is not correct. Society is a key part of it, but not the part of not having any money. I do not have a lot of money and I have no reason to steal. I have lived on the street and I have never stole from anyone. It is how people are brought up. There are plenty of people who do not have money and who do not steal. In fact, stealing and using the term "have no money" is simply a cop out.

I will say this though. Stealing food from a store to survive is different than stealing TV

  • @Jerrid3 Well that was down to your environment to, if you were brought up in an environment where morals and a clear line of right and wrong and ideals were around etc etc

  • @tkjp999

You are correct. Just today I saw a video of supposedly Japanese looting, but it was a video about Haiti I think. The guy did it as a comparison and to get views. But Haiti is not Japan. You can not blame all Haitians for a few or even half. Also the government and the policies it has effects the people. They may loot or die, provided it was just for food. As I recall the government was holding back the food purposely. I mean WTF!?!

  • about your sound problem, you can actually try to duplicate/copy the audio layer/track to make it louder when you edit the video before you render it out.

  • @plainbob13 yea ill be rite next to you with a playstation 3, laptop and every beyonce cd that ever came out and if it took obama more then a day to get me out of cali ill be the first to say he hate white people PS hes half white ooo did u forget that

  • @ThomasAnthonyBowman I WAS TALKING ABOUT PEOPLE COMMENTS NOT HIM AND I DID WATCH THE VIDEO THANK YOU

  • the answer is because of the nuclear meltdown, radiation ?

  • Because Japan is a homogeneous nation culturally/racially give them some of these Negroes and these Mexicans and they will see looting as well if America was all white/European descent there would be no looting.

  • @RodrigoBandito remember the riots in greece a few years back? no blacks to blame for that billy bob. please explain why some white cops were caught trying to steal cars from a chevy dealer in new orleans following katrina? keep blaming otheres for your own shortcomings.

  • There has been documented looting in Japan. The premise is wrong and as such the conclusion is wrong as well.

  • I'm japanese.

It is a growing number of crimes committed by foreigners.

Most of them are second or third generation Koreans who were born in Japan.

  • I live in San Rafael California 15 minutes from San Francisco. I was ran over by a car on a saturday at noon on a beautiful sunny day in front of a church in a nice neighborhood. Out unconscious, not 1 person helped me or called for help/911 or an ambulance. When I came to, people would stop, look, then drive off, even mothers in BMW's with their daughters.People here in the Bay area are extremely selfish, They would rather let you die than dial 3 digits and get help. Maybe I'll move to Japan.

  • Search "Looting in Japan" you can see

  • yeah here in Korea when im at the coffee shop (which is very often) i always go to the restroom and leave my laptop and purse at the table...it's very nice to be able to do that (just don't do it in Itaewon haha)

  • Thank you for the video.

  • Im so happy that you are uploading light videos!! You are right they are exactly what we need!! I just watched the one with that nasty burger-that I cannot believe you actually ate! ick! Keep posting Kev..love to see that some things are still normal in Japan.

  • IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT RACE U ARE IN CALI WE ARE NOT ABOUT TO WAIT N LINE FOR SHIT GET WHAT YOU NEED AND LEAVE THAT GOES FOR EVERYONE OUT HERE NOT JUST BLACKS EVERYONE AMERICANS ARE SELFISH LIKE THAT YOU THINK IF SOMETHING POP OFF IN TEXAS WHITE PEOPLE WITH THERE GUNS AINT GOING TO POP OFF BS SO JUST DONT SAY BLACK EVERY AMERICAN IS THE SAME WAS SELFISH AF

  • @kandigirl He never said anything about black people. How the hell can you watch this with full comprehension and think he was saying anything about black people?? He is talking about how looting would be a problem in any western culture. Start listening when people talk. Also, turn off your caps lock.

  • @kandigirl Oh yea new orleans proved that. I can't wait to loot my 40oz's flat screen tvs and tennis shoes. Then I'll get to yell Obama hates white people.

  • the idea is that anyone can be a "junzi"(gentleman) if they try. ancient govts then used this concept as a way to promote and usher in harmony within their respective societies.A lot of what we culturally witness in modern east asian societies is a legacy of Confucian era principles.

  • great analysis. when i was in college, i took a few Asian history courses & was taught abt the influence of Chinese philosopher Confucian & his teachings on east Asian cultures(iChina, Korea, and Japan) . for e.g.the concept of "junzi" which means 'gentleman' is a big part of Confucianism. It extols humanness, loyalty, and filial piety which I've noticed is very apparent in east Asian cultures. it's basically about self-cultivation & striving to excel morally.

  • I believe that Asian cultures are more reserved and they don't need looting to get by. They are humble with what they got and unlike us Americans, I believe we are greedy and obnoxious.

Speaking of Greedy and Obnoxious, I don't understand how or why Governor Shintaro Ishihara believes that Japan is becoming a corrupt country. I don't see it, I just think that he's getting really senile.

  • Even the criminals won't loot? There are no criminals in Japan? There are a lot of variables in this issue. I'm sure there would't be looting in China if the Tsunami hit that might indicate an awareness of consequences. Our problem isn't individuality, its a lack of responsible parenting and deterioration morals and unrestrained liberalism .

  • I wonder why don't you get a HD cam?

  • @Xeen09 I suppose he did a direct upload from his webcam, that's always easier.

  • I 100% agree with your two cents. That's how I came to think during my years living in Japan and my Japanese wife isn't surprised either at the lack of looting. BTW, I'm still coming to Japan next month. Do you still check your school email while on vacation?

  • No immigrants, no looting. Simple.

  • @vnano then only native americans would be left in america and canada! except for them, everyone else(whites, blacks, asians, east indians..et.c..are all descendants of immigrants.

  • Western culture = Individualistic then opposite is collectivist

  • sorry black folk it the truth

  • Comment removed

  • NO NIGGERS

    NO SPICS

    It's that simple.

  • Well put Kevin. The fastest way Northern Japan will rebuild is if everyone does their part and it seems like that is what's happening.

  • if you watch who the looters are in times of chaos. Its mostly the blacks. LA and so on, Just look into the archives. And in europe its the eastern europeans, And those from the balkans and the gipsies

  • Comment removed

  • they are taking the gas out of wrecked vehicles ,but then they need it and are making the cleanup areas safer from fires !

  • I left my wallet for about 15 seconds in a bank in Korea in my final week. The banker came down to call me upstairs for something so I forgot. Remembered and went back downstairs, not remotely worried that it would be stolen (i'd probably be half in tears in the UK), and... it was gone! somebody actually stole my wallet! Including my ARC card, £70, bank and credit cards. NOT a good time to be the first person in Korea to be robbed in 10 years.

  • @ABombs1 In the west officials also steal, Police and post office employees. a lot of stuff gets stolen from postal workers, right out of the mail. Confiscated drugs get stolen a lot from police and sold, They are actually the worst of them all

  • Thanks! I'm Japanese American, 4th gen., these are the values I was brought up with:1. don't embarass or disgrace the family, 2. respect others, especially elders, 3. Be polite, 4. be part of the group, 5. Help and take care of family/friends/other japanese and asians. 6. Share, and 7. Enryo (En-ryoh) (to show restraint especially in something self serving or self fufilling). Looting might be seen as shameful. Thanks for bringing this to light.

  • Japan is the almost single race country with peace history. There is a trust in the society here. There is no way for us to perform such a violence during the earthquake. But this topic reminded me one thing in the past. After ww2, the horrible rape and looting happened in Japan. Do you know why? Those were done by Koreans, who left over Japan. They lost control of the government and started acting like the winners of ww2. To make the safe country, you should avoid immigrants!

  • It is impossible in US. US is the country of immigrants. That is a sort of your fate since you robbed that land from native Americans. I hate to tell this but you can't see it in your country forever. I hope US not to push my country to accept so much unreliable foreigners.

  • @NoNoSpice haha saying like a five year old reading distorted history textbook with lots of bias. Koreans are helping and donating money for the unfortunate cause in Japan right now; however, If we had that kind of natural disaster, people like you would say, "they deserve what they got".

  • @NoNoSpice True well that because immigrants weren't born in that country to know the values of the country they are either visiting or planning to live there. Remember most immigrants come from countries that are already messed up and in need of changing, so in thus the immigrants may act out the same way they act in their country not saying that right they just need to know respect and be brought up in a certain way. Like you said the U.S took this land from the indians how would you act?

  • @NoNoSpice @NoNoSpice Hahahaha a 9.0 Earthqake almost destroyed your shitty island, u guys are broken and hungry....yet u are still here posting bullshit....u rapist war criminal jap must be really obsessed with korea!!! :) Thanks Koreans they donated millions to help ur broken asses.

  • Thank you Kevin for giving us videos all the time

  • @jlandkev I know that in the US, for example, there are many times (not always) when people do loot stores and whatnot during disasters since businesses and people are so vulnerable. But it's really not something that I'd ever do since during times of crisis, it's more important to work together to get the community, town, state, region, and or country back up on its feet and getting back to the usual flow of things as soon as possible.

  • @jlandkev The fact that anyone would be surprised that there's no looting in Japan during this horrible disaster shows how those individuals view human behavior in a social construct. Simply going by that, those individuals believe that at its core, all people are selfish and will take advantage of whatever situation to benefit themselves...i.e. looting during times of crisis. That's pretty sad.

  • @suiton629 very well put! I agree!

  • @jlandkev Thanks for the compliment. I've been commenting on most of your videos and this is the first time I think I've gotten a response from you. =D Anyway, my "well put" words are coming from my psychology bachelor's degree as well as my tendencies as a sincere, altruistic, and modest personality. The fact, not everyone is as caring and b/c of that, it is pretty much expected that people will always be paranoid (to some degree) of others and that is what I think drives us to be so selfish.

  • @suiton629 So that's why I'm not surprised that others would be in awe that in Japan, there was no looting because generally, people think it's "common sense" (though a horrible one) that people would loot and steal if the opportunity presented itself. I guess that's why Japan is so technologically advanced and has such a great culture...the Japanese people (generally; not all) seem to be sincere with each other and really strive to be a team, instead of an individual.

  • They deserved my donation and more to come!

  • @ustfu great! Thanks so much! We donated to the Japanese Red Cross! I'm pushing the Canadian Red Cross in some of my vids. Either way.....donating is a great thing to do!

  • Great video, Kevin. Thank you for taking on this important topic. ~Kurt :-)

  • @YTBulletTrain thanks so much for the great feedback! Just lisented to several news stories this morning from foreign media where they were very surprised that everything was so orderly here!

  • I never admit the idea that one race or culture is superior than the other.

But there seems to be a connection with our culture of death and honor.

I was taught repeatedly by the elders "Respect your enemy, Honor the Elder, Love your wife, Die for your kids" and "Live in modesty, Strengthen Professionalism without any egoism, Never disdain the Ignorant".

Also, as written in Hagakure, may come from total acceptance of death and spirit.

We've never exemplified it myself though :(

  • Is it just me, or are most of Kevin's videos really quiet? I have to turn up my vol to almost 100%

  • @destructicon500 the internal mic on my Mac is pretty low. Sorry about that!

You are right...the sound levels are very low!

  • @jlandkev At least your video content makes up for it haha :P

  • @destructicon500

Might be due to noise reduction techniques.

  • who cares that there's no looting in japan ? traitor !

  • Pretty good analysis, Kevin.

  • @japundit thanks so much! I take that as a great compliment coming from someone with so much more experience and knowledge of the country than me!

  • Because, I must admit that they are a very disciplined nation compared to many Western nations :)

  • Yeah I can see that actually. By the way my parents are and what they taught me. I can definitely see how there's not that kind of acts during these tragic times.

  • Group culture? Goddam soshulists! USA NUMBER ONE!

  • Also, I have seen people leaving laptops and go to the bathroom in the Bloomsbury Starbucks in London when other people are around.

  • @mysonabsalom hmmmm...a little risky!? I wouldn't do that back home in Canada....and don't get me wrong...i love the place :)

  • Good analysis: very interesting. Something to complain about when you're trying to teach English, something to admire when the shit hits the fan.

  • @mysonabsalom for many folks I suppose that is the truth. For the most part though, that's because those folks bitching about teaching English don't dislike Japan, they probably just don't like their jobs or shouldn't be teachers!

  • @jlandkev Yeah, I was a bit surprised too. I certainly wouldn't do it either. I lost my wallet in a McDonald's in Niigata once and 12 hours later it was returned with everything in it. Certainly another benefit of Japanese social cohesion...

  • Great video, my friend!

  • Well said Kevin! I'm not surprised either. I've read an article about it too, it has nothing to do with race or genomic differences. It's culture.

  • @kushinbou yep..culture...plain and simple.

  • Hey Mr.Kevin

Long time subscriber here, though have never posted before. Good to hear all is normal in your part of Japan. As I'm sure you know, Japan and the events are all over the news here in Canada. I imagine its been sensationalized to a large degree, however there seems to be a great deal of concern regarding the radio active fallout of the nuclear power plant. Whats the news there? Anyways, just thought I'd send a message, your vids are great, pls keep it up. Thanks and be safe!

  • Hi Kevin, I guess its just normal for people to be concerned about your well-being, no matter where you are. Still its strange to think about something as terrible as that happening in one part of the country where you are living. However:

Could you please check the volume of the videos you put online? Compared to others they appear to be very low on volume lately, no matter how much I raise the volume on my computer. Cheers mate! ^_^

  • @Leecher4711 hey there! Sorry about that. The vids I make using the built-in camera on my Mac have a very low volume. Sory about that. I'l work to crank it up!

    I appreciate the input!

  • Great video, thanks for posting your thoughts on the subject.

  • @EvannRachel you're welcome!
