When they're not letting the politics get in the way of the music, they're ok. I guess that's an epidemic in the rock and roll world of today, though.

I literally grew up in Athens. I saw these guys at Tyrone's OC and parties in town. The 84 show at Legion Field on campus is still one of my top ten rock shows and I've been to hundreds.

No, the Stones wouldn't do this - That's why even though it sucked to see a train wreck like this on YouTube, I still would love to have been there.

And for what it's worth - I do still know most of the words to REM's early stuff. Does that make me a freak? Maybe - But I grew up on that stuff - I'll never forget it and it sucks to see losers like this wreck it.

I guess I sounded like a d*&%. Sorry. I grew up on that stuff too. The cool thing about REM were they were in it to be different and have fun and do it their way. Nailing the lyrics wasn't that important. It was all about rocking.

To all the 'negative' people: Why bother that they did not play it 'right', who cares? Music is entertainment and the same way as coloring between the lines does not define "ART", music does not 'have' to be played as it was supposed to...

I think nobody in the audience was bothered by the fact that is was different...

This was a night filled with FUN, and the enthousiasm of the musicians (all of them!) was electrifying and inspiring!

I don't care who is singing it or how. If it sucks... it sucks. If anyone remembers about 13 or 14 yrs ago, there was a beneift show at the 40 Watt for this guy that hurt his back or something. Stipe got on stage with Vic Chestnutt and BUTCHERED "Every Breath You Take". I damn straight heckled the hell out of them as it blew chunder to way out yonder. I love a great cover that deviates from the norm, don't get me wrong, but it needs to have a measure of justice done in some sort.

Even with half of the band they are covering on stage with them, they couldn't get it right.
