I had to interupt listening to this song to say this: This song is very, very good. Some may not get it, or like it. That's cool. I think it's brilliant. The vocals and lyrics, funny and tough at the same time, unpretentious(sp?), the musics a bit rough around the edges, but it's unique. The basics, the essentials of the groove, are in place. The rawness does nothing to hender(sp?) the melody and power. Those guitars are some of the best I've heard. Check out the song "Splitterty Splat", it's on
Better late than never, WOW!!!!!! These dudes were, I can't even find the word...the lyrics, brilliant. "See you next summer, have another bummer" I also love Splitterty Splat. Man, this stuff is really cool. They were so cool that they didn't even need to be called punk. They ain't no posers....
@sebastian242 Fair enough. We can't all like the same thing. That would be awful. It's good to say you don't like something. Sure, people will be offended that you don't like what they think is great...people are weird. Why should you like it, ya know? Cheers! :)
@flaxonx3 It's lonely at the top. Maybe they weren't managed properly, but that obviously didn't stop 'em from making some great rock n roll. Could be all kinds of reasons that I barely knew their name and just recently was turned on to their music. I know a lot of other songs by various persons, and a lot of them suck. I'm sure there's biology 101 involved in the case of The Electric Eels. I mean, it's kind of a lame band name, and I don't like the name still, even though they were awesome.
the liner notes,it's fun to read that shit.The thing is,these guys weren't trying to make a career out of rocknroll or punk.Yr not suppose to,a career is a career,whehter it's at a desk,or a register,or a drumset.
James Williamson, wasn't attached to being a rock star.fucking James Williamson.

It is fucking outstanding! I need to get their album again. They were way ahead of their time.

For me,punk is all about The Electric EEls,Suicide,The Ramones,Debris & Crass.
And nobody did it rawer and ruffer than D McManus,Vega and Steve Ignorant.
'Nuff respect to Ari Up of the Slits.
Essential homicide.

There's no "proto." It's punk.

PUNK!

Really raw, classic Eels stuff - these guys still are criminally overlooked. Not many "punk" bands went the limit these guys did.
