i never really liked the little mermaid. even as a kid, i used to think it was stupid for ariel to want to be something she wasn't (a human) and changing herself for a man. plus the movie made it seem like she was never gonna see her family at the end too lol. gotta say, ariel has one of the best voices though. sorry to get all philosophical, i know the real story's even more messed up

@ I see your point about Ariel changing herself about a man and etc but that's because Disney slightly altered it. Ariel didn't just want to be a human because of Eric but because she when mermaids die, they turn into sea foam but when humans die, their soul goes to heaven (presuming they were good of course) and it was this as well as the prince that she fell in love with. But I find her courage to follow her heart with everything she has a remarkable trait.

@phantomwaltz After all, how many people can say that they did that? Just followed their heart and see where it led them. I mean, in the movie it all works out but it doesn't in the book and Ariel doesn't question why, she knew it was a gamble but she took it and had the time of her life even if it was short. She also got to experience love, a love she had never imagined. I don't know about but I'm in college and still don't think I've experienced love.
