@FlyingMondongo - you must be deaf! Thanks for your lovely comment! Didn't your mother ever tell you if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all?
@DebShany Yes, my mother told me that, but in the other hand you have to speak frankly. Barbra ego ruins everything she does. That’s why being a BIG star, she isn’t in the Rolling Stone 100 greatest singers list.
@FlyingMondongo hahahaha how is her ego on this song? and its not like she needs any tittles from anyone her work, fans and sales speak for themselves
@FlyingMondongo I do believe you mix up arrangement with her personality. The bombastic background is not Streisands fault. Her voice is more than wonderful. The arrangement is just a bit tacky.
@BenVanRoy “Bombastic”, you said well; her rendition of the Ave Maria is also bombastic. Her personality or ego, or… you named, ruins everything. And of course, a GREAT voice.
@FlyingMondongo Oh, I'm sorry. I had no clue that you actually knew Barbara and knew what her personality was like. Oh wait.. You haven't even met barbara, have you? Just like the creator of this video said "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all" Sorry, for being mean.
@MrsJBxoxoxo Don't worry, you're welcome. I'm talking about her performance ON STAGE, or if you prefer, Barbras' personality ON STAGE: a big ego, a great voice, and... so boring.

No, they have not. They are much more concerned about the social, political trend of the day (whatever it means) and when they're called to judge the mere ability to sing (which is arguably what you're supposed to do, if you are making a list of singers) they judge it according to those irrelevant criteria.
That's why Barbra is not on that list, whilst Bob "Braying" Dylan is (at number 7!).
Back in 1974 or so my boyfriend was Barbra's driving instructor to teach her how to drive her Ferrari. Since she was my absolute idol, he gave me her address and I sent her birthday and holiday cards on occasion. She never responded but she did autograph her Butterfly album for me "To Marlee, Happiness, Barbra Streisand". I still have the album. She was and is one of a kind and the most amazing singer I've ever heard. She and Judy Garland were the best!
Do you know what an artist is? It is plain simple, when I was a kid (I am from Mexico) I did not know anything about english, but for some reason I fell in love of Barbra's voice, so for me, an artist is someone who makes you feel, no matter if you understand what the lyrics mean; Barb is an amazing artist and a heaven sent voice for sure...
um burt bacharach actually wrote the fucking song, anybody wanna talk about how good of a songwriter he was? No. You'd rather just swoon over Barbra Streisand's pretty face.
@schclum swooning over her face? People are swooning over that magnificent and unmatched for 5 decades-voice. Yes, THESE two songs were written by Burt Bacharch, but she didn't record all Bacharach songs. None of this takes away from his brilliant work as a songwriter, but he isn't IN the video - her voice is what's on full display here.
When I was 9 years old in 1964, my older sister came home with "People". I loved music so stood right in front of the stereo to listen... when People began to play and I heard that magnificent voice I thought it was the most beautiful voice I had ever heard. NOthing has changed in 47 years. It' still the most beautiful voice I have ever heard. IN 94 my husband took me to hear Barbra live. She began to sing, the tears streamed down my face, finally hearing that beautiful voice live. A great talent
@heytina1 - I could not have said it better myself. My husband wrote her a letter in 2006 (she received it), called our home and reserved 2 seats for us at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, 10th row centre !!!!! As you said "she began to sing, the tears streamed down my face, (throughout the entire concert I might add) , finally hearing that beautiful voice live !!!!! Thanks so much for viewing and your kind words about Ms. Streisand!
@DebShany you are so lucky!! ms streisand came to ireland for the first time ever a couple of years ago to an outdoor washed out ( with terrential rain ) performance, i never got to go, i cried most of the day but my lovely husband put on all her cd's and danced with me, i was heartbroken, so near and yet so far,
@carolh62 - my husband one did that with "Garth Brooks" for me - he dressed up in his tightest jeans, put on his cowboy boots, learned a few "Garth" moves and entertained me all day. Could not get tickets!
@carolh62 Oh My. That is sooo sweet! How very ... very tender. You are a very fortunate woman to have so romantic a husband. I will take this example to heart and keep it in mind for my someday love of my life.
Thank you for sharing... it touched my heart and moved me to tears... as much as Ms. Strisand's gifted and legendary voice.

@DebShany -My in-laws live in San Diego and were renting their home to a film crew. When I asked who were the stars my MIL said James Brolin. I went nuts. I asked if Barbra was around. My MIL had no idea at the time that the two were engaged. I made her swear to me that if Barbra visited that she would call me ASAP. Barbra apparently was staying nearby at the Hotel Valencia, I think, and never visited. Good thing I didn't live there anymore, I would have been a major pain on the film site. lol
The greatest singer of all time. Fell in love with her in 1969 when I was 14 years old. I have never heard anyone who can match her in these last 42 years.
@Phillda11 - I agree - I fell in love with her the same 42 years ago and, to this day, ave never heard anyone who can match her (then and now) !!!!! Thanks for your wonderful comments.
@irish89055 I love KAren Carpenter and even had an old Maureen McGOvern Album way back,(still do), but all in all there is no one who can compare in my view. I have no idea how "Duck Sauce Barbra Streisand" came about! Perhaps it's because Barbra has been extremely popular since she toured in 2006. After all she is "the greatest star" now and always!
