  • @MissRainbowPocky What a shame that this video has not been to your standard. I'm an amateur and this is my first how to video ever!

  • the card she is using is like card stock to all those ppl : )

  • thank you very much i've been looking for this:X

  • This is an excellent tutorial. Believe me, I have seen quite a few. You did well. I hope you will do more. :)

  • what is it that you use for the cover

  • thank you so much!

  • Hello, do you mind me asking, where did you get the thick card "cover" part?:]

  • @hellokittyy265 I bought a big package of them at JoAnne Fabrics.

  • Hi, When sewing the signatures, I put a strip of striped grosgrain ribbon, twice the length of the pages, along the spines. I mark horizontal lines where the pin pricks are and sew through the ribbon as I sew the signatures. When done, fold the ends of the ribbon back and glue along the spine. I don't use the strips of fabric or layers of paper, just the ribbon and it makes a pretty neat job although the first couple of signatures are fiddly. Kay

  • clips will leave marks, I just put a weighted board down on the whole thing

  • can you use cardboard instead of card

  • Thank you so much for these videos! I have to write, illustrate and bind a book for class and then has been immensely helpful and clear!

  • Now what if I want to make a much much larger book I assume the measurements are going to change right???

  • can I make the book with mabey less sections? or should I ceep it with 8 sections?

  • this seems harder then it looks....

  • uhmmm... what kind of board is this? 1:13.

    hehe

  • does bristel board work for the cover

  • sorry, don't know what bristel board is :/

  • @ilikeitachi12345 Hello. Bristol board should be okay to use, depending on the thickness. If it's the strathmore variety, it should be ok. Strathmore Bristol Board has almost the same density/rigidity as binder/davey/chip board. One thing you have to worry about with bristol board, however, is when you use PVA or other liquids/adhesives, it tends to warp.

  • @ilikeitachi12345 yes it does I made mine with it!

  • @ilikeitachi12345 I don't think bristol would work it's thick yes but just a little too flimsy I would say use illustration board. that is just a little thicker and less flimsy. I've actually pieces of a cereal box layered on top of one another.

  • @ilikeitachi12345 I would suggest scrap mat board. Your local Joanns should have them. They're about $1 or $2 per each piece.

  • love the art book

  • can you make an art portfolio????????????

  • I absolutely luuurve ur vids! there very gd!

r u using normal paper for the cover over the card thing or is it thick paper?

  • It was thick paper

  • Not at all :D

  • hello, thanks for the tutorial! what kind of card material should i look for? is there a name for it? thanks!

  • Any card, quite thick. I cut to the size I wanted

  • hey, thanks so much for this tutorial!

i need to make a journally/book thing for art and so u just helped me a lot!

p.s. with the spine, is that just any piece of card you've cut to size or do u buy it pre-made?

  • is that paper or something at 1:15

  • that fist material pad or pat can you just use cardboard?

  • Sorry no, thats about as far as my book binding 'expertise' goes :)

  • fantastic tutorial - the whole series. You explain things so well it's hard to find better! Do you, by any chance, know how to perfect bind single sheets... I'd love to see some instruction from you on that if you do! Thanks for posting these for us!

  • :D :D :D :D :D

  • Excellent demo! I'll be using your intruction for the book cover! A friend of mine saw this video and used these instructions to make his portifolio for class presentation. We all loved it! Thanks for posting and sharing your skills!

  • does it take a long time to make this?

  • who's filmig you?

    p.s. great video!

  • thank you! :)

  • I use a really stiff brush, i think it was originally a stencilling brush. I don't think it matters too much

  • what type of brush do you use for to brush on the glue? any special brush or just a normal will do?

  • THANKS.

  • I've just had a go at using gel medium for a book, I thought the way it drys soft rather than hard and potentially crack would be good for the spine, I was really happy with the results, word of warning- don't use it for the end papers, :( ruined my book.

  • what kind of glue are you using?

  • I'm just using PVA, white glue. I haven't bothered with 'bookbinding' glue, though if you want archival quality perhaps make sure you are using acid free craft glue.
