  • I would like to clear something up... When you Dub something you take the original and add voice overs, therefore Anime cannot have bad Japanese Dubbing, because it all originates from over there.

What does that mean? Simplified, it means that if you watch it with the Japanese voice actors you are watching it in the original version, Dub is just for lazy people who don't like to read, or are not willing to learn the language. So nobody takes Dub seriously, mainly because most of it sucks…

  • @ShinyFlygonMaster

So I guess you never heard Yubaba's voice in Japanese...

  • dubs are so beta

  • I've gotten almost every dub watcher I've had the pleasure of meeting to admit that they can't stand the Japanese language. Therefore they are forced to enjoy a fucked up low budget, shit grade voice acting, flap synced, unoriginal, characters-who-live-in-japan-and-are-japanese-do-not-speak-english-so-it-doesn't-make-fucking-sense version of the original.

  • WHAT IS THIS SHIT ಠ_ಠ

  • we meet again...240p

  • some english dubs are great like hellsing and host club. i just dont like the dubs where they all sound stupidly american -.-

  • I think the point whoever the hell was trying to get across is that the Japanese version is more expressive due to the more emotional nature of Japanese words.. I'm not reading through the comments, I don't care if you reply to this. I don't read replies

  • I wish people would stop this argument over which is better subs or dubs, it depends on the person. Dont try to force your opinion onto someone else.

  • to be honest, i prefer subs, but that's just my opinion :)

  • idk why people dont like it dubbed, i think its the only anime that actually did a good job on dubbing it not like azumanga daioh, now that dubbed sucks....

  • @spaingano

only anime? nahhhhh theres tons of good dubs out there you just gotta look. school rumble (my favorite), hetalia, yuyu hakusho, haruhi suzumiya, durarara, etc.

  • @IXvSakuravXI yeah i prefer durarara in english too, but after watching azumanga daioh in english it kinda killed english dub for me so i havnt really tried watching other animes in english.....ps love your background......

  • i won't say that dub is terrible or something but it really depends on the voice actors. and this is a good example of a good dubbed video.

  • Lucky star is one of the few anime that has both perfect dub and sub voice, i haven't seen any anime like that since Inuyasha

  • to me, lucky star in japanese or english is cute.

  • i love konata's dub. its so cute!

  • omg dubbed D:

  • Oh,my. Many people are mistaking this video for a anyone's dub.

But I know that she imitated the Japanese kids' anime, ''Crayon Shinchan''.

Its anime's main character's voice is like this.

I mean, Crayon Shinchan is very famous in Japan, so many Japanese notice

that she imitated him. But many foreign people don't know, I think.

But I hear Crayon Shinchan is also broadcasted in many country.

    (Sorry for my strange English.)

  • If you don't like the sub and dub version both equally you can't be a real Lucky Star fan. Konata would be disappointed in you. Learn from her teachings, more voice actors means more character's voices to enjoy.

  • STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT THE DUBBED WHO THE CRAP CARES?

  • To all those bashing for this being a dub, let me say something.

Pretty sure it's episode 5, when they all go to the beach with Yui and Kuroi. When they go to the onsen, Tsukasa and Kagami have a short conversation about their periods. In the dub, they didn't change this. I'm sure a lot of other dubbing companys would have...

  • @domizzl 1. OTAKU MODE ACTIVATE!: It's Episode 6 >.> Sorry, but it bugs me :l

2.I actually prefer English Konata a little better, But thats just me. The only voice I hate in the dub is Patty's. At least in Japanese her voice is more tolerable.

  • Like some people say, I liked the english dub of this show.

  • THIS DUB IS DISGUSTING...

  • The Dubbed is horrid. Konata doesn't even sound like Konata D:<

  • In my opinion, the english dub is better.

    THERE I SAID IT.

And if you don't agree, just gtfo, please :3

  • I watched the dubbed version first, cause I'm way too lay to read the subtitles...but I wish I watched the subbed version first...the characters seemed a LOT cuter...but I also think the characters in the dubbed version are good too...my opinion.

  • the dub sounded a little boring.. the guys who dubbed this are untrained LOL!

  • Im not complaining that dub sucks in general, some dubs are actually good (i.e black lagoon and funimation's one piece), i just think that there are some anime actually better off in its original language and better watched in sub. Cause the attempt of it in english is actually really bad compared to the original (i.e k-on and sadly lucky star).

  • shes trying to imitate shinchan thats why her voice sounds wierd in the end. yes most dubs ARE crap but funimation and Bandai have done a great job recently(excluding Clannads dub)

  • I like both subs and dubs, the latter more, and I find that when there are subtitles, I don't acually WATCH the show, I'm to busy reading what is being said.

  • I personaly like subs, but there are a few animes, like yu yu hakusho, that i cannot stand to watch subs. must be dubs. no other way.

  • I never heard the dub for this before...i don't like it

  • i understand why you may not like subs, but lets be honest, a subbed conveerstion, since they are usually rushed or are an after thought, can at times make no sense, let us not forget "people die when they are killed"...

  • HA konata imitated shin-chan

  • Japanesse anime cannot be dubbed -_-. Once it gets dubbed it ain't that awesome anymore. But this dub isn't bad at all >:D

Its my own opinion by the way.

  • I dont get why people get so mad about dubs...Its the same show just in a different language and voice actors. Sometimes i like subs over dubs because im just used to hearing their voices in japanese. But Im ok with dubs :)

  • dub wouldnt be bad if they picked people who didnt have thee most annoying american accents....

  • Some dubs are good and some subs are good u gotta mix and match some times

  • I have no problem with the concept of dubbing. They just tend to sound horrible.

  • not going to say hate and stuff, but no offense in my opinion, dub sucks. and it just makes konata sound really stupid. Just my opinion. if you like dubs, hey, I'm not stopping you

  • Not just for this, but if you buy anime thats not dubbed, are all them subtitled? Like if I got FMA blu ray, would it come with subtitles?

  • I started out with the dub, so I can't hate on it......I still think that the sub is better, though ^^" Either way, Konata is a total bamf and my favourite character~ <3

  • The dub is OK. Patricia Ja Lee is the only one who sucks and if I could change one thing, I would swap Kagami and Tsukasa's voice actresses, since each would have better fit the other character. (Seriously, Kagami sounds all squeaky; Perfect Tsukasa material!)

  • Hmm, (about the subs and dubs thing) Let's see, Miyuki and Tsukasa sound good in English. But Konata and Kagami need more fitting voices.

  • lol konata sounds like a guy

  • dubbed can be nice lol

my eyes get sore from reading XD

  • Lmao...

The way they say 'Kagami' in English... xDD

  • lucky star in english is very bad XD!!

    Sorry for my english u.u

  • 1:27-1:29,lol i luv when they eat the food and make that noise X3

  • Lol...the dubs on these are actully funny XD

  • I can't even describe, man. D:

  • "Stop talking like him ok..."

I am not getting a refferance here, what is she talking about

  • @halfdogderek she's talking about konata takling like Shin-chan. if you never seen it before its about a very weird boy whos well, weird i really don't know how to explain this so you should watch it. it's an ok show

  • Konata kinds sounds like Haruhi Suzumiya from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

  • @IceMintPrincess That's because they both have the same actress that makes their voices...

  • @angelnyuu Oh.

  • OMG english voice is so... sux

  • argh eng dub still sucks

  • @Cornholio8787 Depends on your own likings I guess. I prefer most Anime in Japanese but sometimes I prefer a dub. I first watched the dubbed Lucky Star and enjoyed it, but I wasn't used to the voices to watch the OVA so I watched the subbed version to see it right... Same went for Haruhi suzumiya with the second season and Disappearance, where only the first season was dubbed.

  • ewwwwwwww, it's dub

  • @hejjagedu Stop being so butthurt.

  • @hejjagedu yes it is dub. lucky star has a very good dub actresses, kagami sound more of like a tomboy like she should in dub. ill give u that usually dubs are bad but lucky star and a few others are really good

  • @dogcatman1 but if you listen at 0:41 you get exactly why I hate dubs, it's so damn monotone X_X

  • @hejjagedu actually it isnt. this video just has shitty quality

  • @hejjagedu, CRY MOAR.

  • @hejjagedu fag

  • @hejjagedu ewwwwwwwwww its a troll

  • The cake is a lie. X3

  • Kona is funny!

  • dubs > than Sub. deal with it.

  • Ewwwww, English dub. Not what I was expecting.

  • @Ahbooshasha

The dub is better than the sub.

  • @RedVsBlue725 DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEE *FIRE LAZAR!*

  • @TheGuitarFaggot

*takes five steps to the left* Missed me :D

  • its not moe when shes clumsy. wat u say!!!! and i just figured out y konata was making that face, it was because kagami just wolfed her cake down before the others were done.

  • English dub is just fine,

Chinese dub in Taiwan is evil....

  • Lol Konata is so Kawaii ^~^

  • i`ve nvr heard their english voices til now! xD they`re kinda cute but the japaneese voices are much cuter :3

  • im sorry, but dubs wont cut. Aya Hirano do a much better job dubbing konata. Konata isnt konata without her voice.

  • OMG! It's THE EVIL DUB! ENGLISH! STOP IT! GET IT AWAY! IT'S EVIL! IT'S HURTING MY EARS! MUST GET MEDICINE! JAPANESE KONATA!!!

  • it hurts my ears!!! damn english dub....

  • @mwhit166

Get your ears checked, you've obviously got a problem if the very language you speak hurts your ears.

  • also 1:36 i dont get it.......

  • @armandux1productions that voice Konata was emitating was Laura Bailey the Voice of a character called Shin chan on an the anime of the same name.

  • @NarutoIkari thx for clearing up for it somewhat but its still confusing XD

  • This is one show I couldn't stand original Japanese dialogue and subtitles ('reading' this particular show wasn't that funny) though the English dub is well delivered and made it quite enjoyable!

  • This is an English dub I can live with because they don't change their names and the whole plot!

"That's our Kagami! A hard worker, but only on her birthday!"

I love Kagami's tone of voice when she says, "Shut up."

  • love this series... but its hard to find decent voice english voice acting for these kinds of anime... I found no humor in the way they said it in english, except for the part when kagami said shut up. that was the only believable part...

  • Konata: That's our Kagami. A hard worker, but only on her birthday. =3

    Kagami: -w- Shut up.

  • omg! lucky star is on TV!? where! when!?

  • i like subs better

  • I know that was a horrible joke, but i know people who would do exactly the same.

  • I know what the final funny moment would be.

I am 1000 yards away with an m107 50. bmg Barrett trained on her, right between the eyes.

She is yak yak yakking away about cornettes.

Trigger pulled, shot taken, barrel and anything within a meter of me lights up.

she takes her true last bite, a bloody mist is all I can see, I go home proud that i saved the world from the blue hared bitch.

if you are wondering, that is my ultimate fantasy.

  • yes it's fine but only fine. The english dub isn't moe at all.

  • @oriontwc hey speak for your self. the only ones i dont like are tsukasa(it sounds strained when she is trying to be cute) and Patty in both eng and jap shes hard to handle

  • @everyone,who says the english dub sucks, i like the english dub better

  • in the english dub "i agree with your opinion" becomes "BITCHIN"

i couldn't possibly stand that. or any of the dub. their voices sound too pornstar-ish, which doesn't fit the characters' innocence. not to mention Kagami's southern accent. blurgh. plus, with the original, their mouths actually move to the words they are saying.

I'm not prejudiced, i can't stand the dub for those reasons. people have the right to dislike things, and i'm exercising it.

  • awwww such a cute clip xD...but totally screwed because of the dub (¬w¬)...i want to hear Konata with Hirano Aya's voice :D

  • i love the english version thankyou for being the like only person to post it in english!

  • how can you watch Lucky Star in english? /bleh

  • Because a school girl should sound like a partially drunk 26 year old with a sinus problem.

  • @KyrieMikomi Leave old man Konata alone!

  • i auto reacted in 4seconds and hit that mute button on instinct

  • the dubs are cute too. and its pretty enjoyable. "Bleh bleh jap vers is kawaiier..." gimme a break... this one is good too, the english konata sounds soo close to the jap version too :D

  • Konata sounds like Shin-Chan, awsome.

  • Some anime are good english and japanese because most of them are the same in both languages, and some are just completely irritating like Mew Mew Power. (A change in name is a DEAD give away to a crappy dubbed series).

Btw when did Lucky Star come on Tv?

One last thing: I think the Lucky Channel part is better in English just cause it is extreeeeeeeemly funny ;3

  • @HamtaroYAY mostly i hate are the fags that censor the anime..... god i hate it... and dubs are retarded yeaheyaheayehrhfhqiweg ;jgopjgwjopgjpehwkwhokohwkwhoh

  • Personally, I haven't come across a dub that I hated. Now, there's been specific characters that I didn't like (in Lucky Star, it would be Patricia), but I've generally enjoyed every dub that I've seen.

  • HARUHARA HARUKO ^__^ =3

  • Konata sounds like a boy ¬¬, Kagami sounds like a baby

  • i hate the voices japenese is soooo much beter

  • I just noticed that Kagami's voice actor is the same as Haruko from flcl.. o 3o;;

  • @FaustianMoon Yes, and it's the same as Haruhi Suzumiya. It's Wendee Lee.

  • @RedGemAlchemist; Error. Konata and Haruhi are the same, not Kagami and Haruhi. * 3*

  • @FaustianMoon ...Oh yeah. Must have misread it. Whoops XD

  • @FaustianMoon awesome as it is I just hope Konata's voice is not the same as Revy's from BL, I dare not to look it up, just suspecting. not like it would ruin anything for me, it would just be too painful to fall in love with a voice actress living in another continent

  • @FaustianMoon

It's also the same voice actor For Haruhi

  • I don't have anything against people that prefer english dubs, but i think that the original japanese voices make it soooo much more kawaii :3

  • @megaatle That's true, but English dubs just have that whole thing where you actually UNDERSTAND what they're saying, but yeah, it's true that it's not as cute as the Japanese voices. And in addition to the English dub for this actually being decent(above average, if I may say so myself), as I said, it just gets points for actually being in a language I understand, since subtitles are kinda meh.

  • Konata´s voice turns me on

  • The dub is terrible, period. Digimon, or Lucky Star or Azumanga, the dub is a real turn off because it is not natural at all. And why can't you read subs? It's not like you have to pause and read the whole thing before watching. Our brains do not read at one word per scond.

  • lucky star. in english. fuck logic!

  • everybody that says the dub sucks, SHUT THE FUCK UP!

  • @pokemewnic The dubs suck. :>

It's like cosplay; it'll either be really good or really bad. There's not much leeway.

  • @aznkwonboa Everyone's entitled to their opinions, and I know you didn't say what I'm about to say, but if you're telling me that the English dub for this isn't loads(*9999999) better than the english dubs of every other anime out there, you're crazy.

  • @maurauder21 I suppose I'm crazy then. Lucky Star is centered around Japanese culture; that being said, it'll be much tougher than translating and dubbing most other animes. They can never make the awkwardness disappear, and that's why dubs will never be as decent as subs.

Also, there's something about the voice actors' tones of voice. Few English voice actors can do voiceovers without it sounding unnatural.

  • @aznkwonboa As I said, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and yes, you're absolutely right when you say you can't make the awkwardness disappear, but that doesn't mean that they suck entirely, but whether they suck or not really depends on the person, but that's just what I think. Anyway, if you truly think that all the other animes that are dubbed out there did a better job than this one, then I don't know what to say. Maybe it's been a while since you've seen one, idk.

  • @maurauder21 I find watching dubbed anime similar to treasure hunting. Most of the time, it's a waste of time, but you might find treasure eventually. Or never at all. A gamble that I don't bother taking.

I also find comparing dubbed anime to each other similar to comparing shiny turds, to be frank.

  • @aznkwonboa Well, saying this for the 3rd time again, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and your opinion just greatly varies from mine, I guess.

  • i know ppl may not like the english dub, but hey, i'd rather have it in english, than have to read subs, and watch it at the same time. besides, japanese is to complicated for me :(

  • I watched the english dub and it was fine. The only voice I couldnt stand was Patricia's >.< it was so horrible and put on.

  • @angelsmurf16

    agreed

  • whats that song in the bigining?

  • @97flip97 Carmelldsen by Carmell. It's Swedish. That one isn't as popular as the Speedycakes version,

  • what the heck?!

I was giving you a thumb up already for being a lucky star video....

    But english dub sucks, dude...

  • @mangaxfan1234

    You are one prejudiced individual.

    English dub is fine.

  • @GayLPer I am prejudiced too. English dubs suck.

  • @faetrn

    Except they don't.

Japanese just sounds better because you're not from Japan :P

  • @GayLPer Perhaps, but I just feel that if something was made in a certain language...then I should watch it in that language.

  • @GayLPer

someone like you wouldn't be able to understand.

  • @ChiroExplainPlox

I'm not the one who lacks understanding.

  • @GayLPer

you say this EXACTLY because you don't understand.

Can you, even simply immagine that there is a possibility that you wouldn't have heard about of you being wrong ?

I mean, get real, it's not because you're convinced that you're right that you are to be right.

I won't even say to you to go to school or read a book, but simply try to use your brain for more things than breathing and hunting food.

  • @ChiroExplainPlox

you say this EXACTLY because you don't understand.

  • @GayLPer

you're awfully immature, you know that? Lucky Star has an okay English dub compared to many others, but it still isn't that good compared to the Japanese. I'm sure the English voice actors are quite proud of you for standing up for them, though. Give it a rest.

  • @volcanicflamingo

I think the English dub is pretty great myself. I'm just tired of the sub elitists who are all "The dub sucks and if you like it then you suck! Subs forever!" kinda people.

It kinda sucks because I enjoy watching anime both in its native language and in MY native language, and finding dubbed episodes is near impossible, and when they are posted, there's usually a ton of people bashing it simply for being in English.

    Not immature, just frustrated.

  • @GayLPer i onyl liek dubs better because i dotn have to READ whiel im watching it >.< (besides for the captians that makes the story itself better, and id have to read those anyways <.<)

  • @GayLPer I see your point:) What version people watch doesnt matter to me at all:) Its a personal preference:D

  • @GayLPer

In my oppinion dubs aren't bad, but I still prefer subs because to me they are easier to understand than spoken English and if I dont understand a word I can google it

If I would try to watch Anime in my native language, German, It would be really hard to find some subbed and even harder to find them dubbed plus the german ones often are really bad

and in my oppinion "Thank you for the meal" doesn't sound right for an anime they should say "Itadakimasu" but that wont match with the rest

  • @GayLPer dubs are often terrible since they sometimes mess up the context of the conversation to time it with the mouth. plus all the actual rude words are removed. im not saying they suck its just that subs are better translated.

  • @GayLPer I agree. I'm personally one of those people who prefer subs over dubs. But, I don't think that it sucks or anything. It's just that my preferences are slightly different. Everyone has different opinions and it's fine to point them out, so long as it is not offensive or negative.

  • @AyShanxT I too, agree... somehow. I don't think dubs SUCK, I just haven't yet found any dub that could compete with the original in any level. Mostly because japanese use a lot of puns and tricks of language that cannot really be translated and I feel annoyed when in dubs they always fail pitifully.

  • @GayLPer I feel like the dubs can't express the japanese culture to its fullest and as such i like subs better

  • @GayLPer i feel like the dub can't express the japanese culture as the subs do

  • @GayLPer dubbed anime are shit. nuff said

  • @GayLPer thats because MOST english VA treat it like a job. some are good.. SLAYERS dub is great as is cowboy bebop.. but MOST dont sound right.. in the slightest.. sounds like konata is voiced by a guy.. its irritating.. but hey.. watch it however you like.. but the treu experience is hearing the original language.. same goes for movies.. a dubbed martial arts movie just sounds terrible.. unless its jackie chan.. his english is pretty good.

  • @GayLPer go to animefreak.tv .....=3 it has thousands of aniimeas listed in a to z

  • @GayLPer I bet most of them still watch anime in english subbed LoL. Not much of a difference IMO

  • @GayLPer I agree with you on sub elitists (or elitists of any sort), but I have to say that some dubs just don't work for me, Lucky Star being an example. Some of the voices are great, but others don't quite work for me. I tend to like Japanese audio over English, especially in a series that has a lot of cultural references that either get lost or changed in translation. Your opinion, however, is both reasonable, and reasonably presented. Thank you for not being immature.

  • @GayLPer I get where your coming from. The only anime I even consider watching subbed is comedy. Otherwise you cant focus on the show, you have to keep looking at the words. Besides, dubs use 99%of the same words, they just need less effort to watch.

  • @GayLPer They say it because the most dubs just suck... bit the official LS engdub is rly great.

  • @Northwindless

I find it to be the opposite, most dubs are great. Now, the original Japanese does tend to be better, I'll admit that, but at the same time, I don't understand Japanese, and even though I've trained my eyes to read subs and watch the action, it's easier to follow the story when it's spoken rather than read.

Now, I've run into a few bad dubs , and when it's bad, it's BAD. I've also run into bad subs. There's rotten apples in every pile.

  • @GayLPer That's true, but I guess subs with japanese language are better because most of the japanese voice actors do their work very great. They have so much enthusiasm doing it. While many english (or for me german) dubbers are just to lazy to higher their voice, scream, or something else that would be necessary in that moment

  • @Northwindless Dude shut the fuck up.

The only reason people say Jap dubs are better is because they don't know how Japenese people talk. I can tell you that they are just as bad, if not worse than the english dubs. The only difference between listening to the dubs is that you know the english dub is terrible because you have been around the culture and you just assume the Japanese dub is realistic.

With that being said, you can watch 2 bad dubs, one that you can't understand and one you can...

  • @Fanatic2020 Nope. Im not American or English, I'm German. And I think there ARE good English dubs and there are good German dubs. But nonetheless most of the series are better in their original language. By the way I can understand Japanese.
