We can add the Rosenblatt Carmen to the other great Carmen based works of F. Borne and P.A. Genin for flute and piano. What I liked so much about this work is: 1)His use of the more romantic and sensual themes in the opera in addition to the more catchy dance idioms. It provided great contrast, character and energy, making all sides of Carmen the person come to life! And 2) this work put the pianist on more equal terms with the flute providing a more interesting pairing. Great performance!
