I believe these were recorded in the early to mid 1950's. They are still excellent models for tongueing, rhythmic precision, and so on... Mendez was quite the musical phenomenon, and not just as a master trumpeter but also as an arranger, composer, author, conductor. It seems a great family man as well.
Not to be a jerk, but you should just get the whole Arban's book. It may run you around $35. However, If they sell the tonguing sections, this is probably under single tonguing.
not to be a jerk back, but thats what I meant. I was wanting to buy the Arban's book that this exercise came out of. I dont know how many Arban's books there are. I thought Ive seen different ones, thats why im asking.
@slimslick07 No, what you've probably seen are the different editions. The book has been around for a good 90+ years, so there are quite a few different editions out there. However, it doesn't really matter which edition you get; as long as you get the "Arban's Complete Conservatory Method" you'll be good.
I saved this screenshot on my iPod and it really is fun to play ^.^

It is nice, but he doesn't play the dotted notes exactly, but more like triplets.

I love the fact that they flash a picture of Mendez at the end to show you who just raped your ears and mind.
