  • Doesn;t just take but " tortures him positionally" LOL

  • Whats a gambit?

  • Kasparov's genius is... hard to comprehend

  • conga solo throughout the video :-P

  • who had the black?

  • What is the antidote that was found ?

  • i dont get something on the video at 3.44 the black bishop moves to g3 then the pawn in front of it takes it by stepping forward i thought pawns could only attack one step diagonal

  • @adharasi

White has already traded bishops, Black recaptures then white plays g3. I thought it looked a little weird at first, but yes, black's bishop goes first i think. :)

  • @MrMonkeyJuggling oh i get it the white bishop takes the black bishop and the screen lag makes it look different... thank you

  • amazing

  • Kasparov considered this game as his very best game!

  • Incredible game, wonderful commentary.

  • Please like this video if you got something out of it, or even better add it to your favourites. Cheers, K.

  • There's one move that I simply can't understand, but I'm sure I must be missing something. @ 6:52, the position immediately after Kasparov's moved his rook all the way to c1. Why doesn't white take black's queen with the rook? Then black takes rook (Re1xe3) and white rook takes black room (Rd1xc1). White takes black's queen and a rook for the cost of a rook... right?

  • @acarrizo82 because if the rock takes E3 then kasporavs rook takes C1 then he would have a terrible position.

  • @acarrizo82 because if the rock takes E3 then kasporavs rook takes C1 then he would have a terrible position.

also then he would get the d3 rook for free

  • @acarrizo82 because if the rock takes E3 then kasporavs rook takes C1 then he would have a terrible position.

also then he would get the d3 rook for free never mind sorry

  • @acarrizo82 because if the rock takes E3 then kasporavs rook takes C1 then he would have a terrible position.

wait no im right im not used to the comment thing

  • @acarrizo82 Fear of mate, simply. Karpov's king was in a horrendous position by that stage.

  • sorry that was a mistake please ignore previous comment

  • following pXb4 Karpov should have played Na4 to c3 followed by Be4 then white bishop must take it or loose knight or bishop. Karpovs next move would be Rook f1 to e1 and black has no further threat. The best outcome for white is to sacrifice knights and bishops and white comes out of the whole situation a pawn up!!!!!

  • There is NO recorded loss of bobby fischer in any BLITZ game in his glory years. On the contrary, just prior to meeting spassky for the world championship clash of 1972, the soviets hatched the plan of inviting fischer to moscow for a blitz tournament , no doubt hoping that a few defeats would dent his confidence before Iceland. They lined up Tal, petrosian, and bronstien and a host of other heavy weight blitz players. Result? 14 wins / 2 draws!! Poor spassky, realized what he had to face!!!

  • Inspiring :)

  • @waywardize Kasparov is the greatest , but Fischer might have had the most potential ever . Remember that Kasparov grew up being coached by masters and grandmasters . In school he was playing guys that would go on to be master level players . The Soviets had several dozen guys that were among the worlds best over the years . Fischer had none of this . He had a chess board and some chess books . He was sadly crippled by mental illness in the end , so we will never know .

  • "...the knights have become drunk, or something." Brilliant man.

  • We all know who is that dislike, right?

  • thumbs up because they encourage revisiting the commentary versions of these classic games..

  • @waywardize im better than both of them hopefully in a few years ul find out, as long as my arm gets fixed ul find out

  • why he didnt attacked the knight with bishop early on/

  • @PHUTOTUNI I guess he didn't expect the knight to be such a nuisance and was just trying to hold on to the D pawn. Greed basically.

  • epic!

    how he outsmarted him

    epic!

  • one of the most beautiful games i have ever seen

  • This is the bast game by Kasprov!

  • The blue streaks on screen are SOOOO annoying!

  • One of the greatest chess game in the World, sometimes I have the feeling that chess is the most hardest sport.

  • So what's the antidote? You mentioned that they found one.

  • drunken knights... haahahahhahahaha couldn't stop laughing at this one

  • kasparov is great. i wouldn't last a minute playing against him. There were brilliant moves and traps that would get me a mate after 1min!

  • This game no doubt, is the most brilliant game in chess. But Karpov allowed it to happen this way: he sturbonly hanged on to the pawn n forgot to play the game !

  • WHAT a game

such a pity that Kasparov no longer plays...

  • I've just uploaded a BBC TV program made at the time of the match which analysed this game thoroughly. Very entertaining!

  • @SearchBucket Could you post the link? It would be appreciated!

  • Brilliant video!!

    That's some really good commenting!!!!!!!!!

  • i mean Nb2

  • after kasparov's g5 white should have played Kb2... he just got so beat up... that knight on d3 was a freaking monster...

  • Shocking tactics! Frightening moves! amazing gambit...

  • the machines operating now are not unbeatable at all, not even rybka. i play a lot of corres' chess on iccf where engine use is permitted, and if it was such a big factor all games would be perfect and end in draws. and if its so 'preposterous' then why didnt ibm release the logs, we could all see what it had thought, kasp would have his mind put at rest. and who would it benefit most? ibm of course, so why didnt they? hm! go figure little man

  • Nakamura has beaten Rybka 5 times in blitz. He has also lost more than 400 times - but still.. In blitz - beating a monster like Rybka - incredible.

  • phenomenal skill.

I'm just starting to look for my favourite game of all time -Short vs J Polgar. If you haven't seen it then it will blow you away. Polgar effects the most incredible turnaround in chess history.

  • Chess at this level is quite frightening.

  • wow nice =D

  • agree with bigshot

  • Drunken knihgts!!!

Nice term, I guess both knights went too strong on the vodka the night before.

    Great job!!!

    As usual!!!

Keep up the good work, Kingcrusher!!!!

  • its pretty how the black horse just sits in the middle

  • "Drunken Knights". Hahah!

  • Well, check out some of the brilliant games played by Murphy, Fisher, Tal, Casablanka or Karpov. They certainly rival if not surpass this brillinat game played by Kasparov.

  • Morphy*, Capablanca*.

Kasparov was among the best of the best, and truly a deservingly world champion.

  • I lost a lot of respect for him when he accused Deep Blue of cheating--truly an act of an intelectually dishonest coward. Thanks for the spelling lesson, teach.

  • Lol, no problem. Kasparov accused Deep Blue of cheating because of he had beaten Deep Blue in 1996 fairly easily, and IBM had dismantled Deep Blue right after the win after Kasparov's accusation.

The only games I have seen better than this art piece was Fisher's immortal game.

    Tal's Queen-Rook sacrifice game.

  • That is not why Kasparov accused Deep Blue of cheating. In the movie, Kasparov accuses Deep Blue of cheating because it made a move that according to Kasparov, required human intellect. Dismantling Deep Blue would have not covered up anything, since Kasparov speciously claimed that Deep Blue cheated by combining human intellect with the computer's analytical ability. It was a ridiculous and baseless charge and Kasparov is a coward for making it.

  • could you send me a link for the Tal's Queen-Rook sacrifice game? thanks. cant find it :S

  • ''intelectually dishonest'' haha

  • intellectual coward?? do u have a clue what ur talking about, or chess in general. its well known that no access at any point was permitted to deep blue and never were the logs revealed as ibm had promised kasp they wud be. kasp was cheated and if u knew anything about chess u wud know this as well. after kasp won the first match he gladly accepted a rematch ibm however were never so gracious, and altho they said it was all in name of research they dismantled deep blue rigth after the match!

  • Whoa, take it easy little man--the vein on your forehead is about to burst. All you're doing is feeding into a preposterous conspiracy theory. Are you aware that the machines that are operating right now are virtually unbeatable? Are they all cheating? How exactly did Deep Blue cheat--and how would dismantling Deep Blue have covered up the indiscretion--please enlighten me.

  • actually there is evidence to suggest that something controversial was going on. The thing is this: IBM was asked to prove that everything was legit - and even though they would have no problem providing such proofs, they didn't. Then the natural question is simple - 'why not?'. I'm not saying that they did in fact cheat - but I am saying that they may have and that they had good reason to do it.

If - then how did DB cheat? Simple: Man+machine is superior to either.

  • This game was actually voted as the best game of 4 decades, when it was analysed afterwards, voted by many chessmasters.

  • "Its not the most active queen move in the world"

    dry

  • Don't be so critical of others.

  • sorry ZweiSchrei and the people who gave four thumbs down

I meant 'dry' in a good way like it was a funny comment

    smiling face :D

  • An amazing game.

  • Just an incredible game. Kasparov was the best without doubt. Never ceases to amaze me.

  • Kingcrusher, u are simple the best!!!

    Just love your video's

  • th idea of pawn to d6 at 5:06 is that if the queen dosent take the knight is almost stuck there cause if it moves there is gonna be a rook fork

  • instead of bxd6, karpov should have played Nb2...

  • Great game and commentary though I have a question. Why doesn't Karpov simply play Be2 to kick the knight?

  • thats what i wnna know too

  • Damn good game and commentary.

  • Ditto 5th time! Very Detailed.

  • ditto 4th time!

  • Ditto again!

  • Ditto again!

  • Excellent video and commentary.

  • Ditto.

  • Classical encounter, and Kasparov's Evergreen! Great comments btw :)
