Like a musical hurricane fluidity into a hurricane. At 2:10 that's exactly what happened and even the band swayed like trees caught in a summer storm lost on it's rolling waves. Truly one of the best bands I've ever heard thank for posting been looking for this one.
_____OH NO! It's THE GIRL FROM THE RING! Somebody must've watched the video and LET HER INTO OUR DIMENSION! Jimmy, ya should've bured the video while ya had the chance. Now look what you've done. Now we've got demon-girls killin' folks and startin' up post-modernist electronica bands in Japan. What a jerk you are, Jimmy. It's all YOUR FAULT!
Hah of course i saw 'em. I've memorized their pedal setups :D... Depends what kind of 'technical' you mean - I did think he was referring to their playing styles and not their use of guitar technology.
You did see the plethora of effects pedals down there, didn't you? They're awesome at creating haunting sounds with only a guitar, but those pedals are helping immensely. ;)
yes, they are very technical. the pedals really only add to the atmoshpere. the band's compositions are executed with great precision live, almost perfect to the album. How they play it is with emotion, the way they play it is with emotion. the technique is what makes the emotion.
dude that was amazing, i saw them in boston and when they played that song it gave me the craziest chills, they're so technical that its amazing cause all there're music sounds exactly like the album.
Would love to hear that track live , id say it`d be amazing . Hope the play in England or Ireland soon

now this is music.
Sometimes post rock in general is becoming a bit stale and not unconventional. But i always look back to mono and their brilliance.

i love how it suddenly gets more energetic at 2:13

ughh, any idea how to get that chilling 'driven delay' tone? All I can figure out is to use post distortion (after the delay and reverb).

What do you mean?
xgTfox 4 years ago
i've figured it out since I posted that.
but, you know when they go crazy and it's just a wall of sound? ya, that sound.
ProblemAudio 4 years ago
SO how do you do it?
It's so amazing, especially live. Have you seen them?
xgTfox 4 years ago
eh, my brother just saw them... but I'm in high school and it was on a thursday so I couldn't go (he did bring me back a purple shirt tho).
to get it I use: guitar (strat)->delay(16th notes)->MXR doubleshot(they use a rat)-> to amp (preferably tube).
if any of you use a Line 6 toneport, I can send you the tone. in the mean time, ill look for a pic of their pedal board.
It's really simple when you get it EQd right, but then just strum like crazy.

Thats true. I have yet to see Mono live, though. :/ IF anyone has some decent quality lives of L'America or Jackie Says, do share. :3

Jackie says is impossible to find on youtube! However I do love the mp3 version amazing

would u happen to have a pic or somewhere where i can see wat kind of setup the have?

Ironically, they are amazingly un-technical. It's more about HOW they play what they play rather than the WAY they play it. There's passion :)

Still, they are good composers.
