One question: is it true that y'all have to wait extended lengths of time for medical treatment. We were told in America by our health ins co. that your system is lacking in so many ways.

While thousands of American go broke everyday because of medical bills.

I happen to have good health ins. for $2500 a month. My 2 children get charged more, because their mother died of Leukemia.

If you don't have any they probably would have given you some Tylenol and send your ass home. With the instructions to see your personal physician in the morning. I'm very grateful I live here in UK. Everyone gets medical attention here, regardless of status. It's about health not wealth. Sum ppl choose private insurance bcos they can afford it; but the rest of us are very lucky to have brilliant medical aid in the National Health Service. We don't see it as a 'communist plot'. It's a blessing! The US system, as it stands, is inhumane. I am happy the Prez cares about the vulnerable; unlike regressives who care only about lining the pockets of the rich!

Well here it is about wealth not health. My son a great baseball (sorta like cricket) player. Took a line drive to his head. I rushed him to the hospital (he wanted to finish the game). In the E.R. they wanted to do a CT-scan. they had to call my ins. to get pre-authorization. He started vomiting, I said to hell with wasting time on the ins. they did it any way. Ins. denied saying wasn't auth. I had to pay over $3000 and that did not even got to my dect. or out of pocket. Son is fine.

Stories like that horrify me coming from UK. Here, even if u have ins. if someone needs urgent treatment the treatment comes first, then phone calls & formalities. That's disgusting! And insurance denied! Appalling! And then u had to pay £3000 ....I cannot believe it!

I work in Health Information Mang. Health reform just might sink me. I had a friend, she was a single parent and taught school. She developed breast cancer. She reached her limit on how much her Ins. would pay. The only way she could coutinue was to get Medicaid (poor ins), but she owned her own house and had to many assets. She choose to keep her assets to give to her children. We died 6 months ago. Sometime it sucks to be an American.
