  • To stop plastic clogging up the world's oceans, streets and natural habitats, please visit robsspace.co.uk and please thumbs up this so others also can, thank you.

  • UN must make a law with inspector go to each country . UN must buy start at 10 big ships for collect the all the garbage in the ocean paid each country. Sounds good solve the problem

  • There are some serious immoral d-bags commenting on here. With the whole "its so big, we might as well" argument you better be careful. With that logic you'll be supporting ideas like the human population is so big its no biggie if a bunch get snuffed out. Sometimes slippery slope thinking reflects an exceptional level of idiocy.

  • should a used clay

  • Mankind is such a disappointment.

  • blah who cares, ocean is really huge, there is enough space to dump fucking trillion tons of shit in it, i say keep dumping rather have it in the ocean than on land

  • @CryptWarrior69 you are a fantastic example of a complete idiot.

  • we're fucked

  • I guess since plastic bags last forever they could be reused.

  • In 50 years people will inhabit the moon and send rockets with trash to the cosmos.

  • You live once, so who cares. The ocean is huge.

  • @bomberfun1 really?! really? can you even be more stupid and dumber than a freaking idiot like you ?! fuck how people like you freak me out!!! are you the only one on this planet, huh?! are you going to be the last one this planet, huh?! think about what you say or rather get educated first next time !!!!!

  • @guitarplayeryzz se la vi, who cares.. garbage is garbage.

  • That wasn't a balloon at 2:40, it was a condom. At least we are using protection while we are f*(king our waters!

  • Recycling does not get rid of this problem. It will still end up where it's harmful to the creatures & eventually killing mankind everywhere. everything we make plastics or rubber Etc, is killing the planet "SLOWLY" like a human smoking cigarettes.

Stop manufacturing the shit. That's the difference that will save everything & everyone.!!!

We will make another thousand years of mankind.

  • watching this sickens me and further concretes my opinion that people are the cancer of the earth..

  • Honestly, I can't believe a company hasn't already taken advantage of this massive source of nearly free plastic and setup a collection facility on the end of these rivers that lead into the ocean.

  • Earth is our only home and for generations to come. We should all take care of our planet. Put your waste in the trashcans, be smart and take care of your environment.

  • I think this video should always be the first video that pops up on youtube just to remind people how ignorant we really are as a species

  • i hate our new beach sand bein in it =(

  • Plastics are mostly petroleum based. When the oil runs out I guess we'll finally stop making those, and stop adding to the garbage patch. One could call that an upside, but awful damage will have been done.

There are some plastics made from casein, and other types, but they don't have the unfortunate versatility of the petroleum ones. Don't know what they do in sea-water.

  • its a fucking disgrace our human race has to suffer because of the dumbass lazy FAT fucks that dont recycle.

  • CheeseOmletKiller - Your one fucked individual buddy

  • GREED makes consumers buy more than what they need, then they become LAZY and cant be bothered to recycle.

People claim they can't make a big impact, well if YOU start, the next person tag's along, domino effect can make this planet cleaner.

The thing is, it's really not that hard and secondly you would probably save money by turning light's off, not driving everywhere.

The economics of it are simple and so is the process. Just act for fuck sake! - Frustrating.

  • We're so proud to be Americans,............are we that proud at knowing where are garbage goes????????? Makes ya say "Hummmmmmmmm"

  • someone should just dump this shit in volcanoes

or make the space elavator already and dump this shit in space

    that would be cool

  • @leotheloser first dumoing this shit in space would make it worse because we would slowly be surronded in garbage and not see day or night just a ton of garbage and dumping it in volcanoes would cause toxic fumes.

  • @TheScarth nope

dumping shit in space might be cool if we launch it at a high velocity into the sun

    and yeah

maybe dump in a clogged volcano instead

  • "UFO Disclosure, Revelations & the 2012 Connection" On

YOUTUBE is a compilation of evidence revealed by former military personnel,

astronauts, politicians, American presidents. This contains credible aired news

UFO footage. The compilation reveals knowledge of life beyond Earth + the

current ongoing presence and initiated contact which has being hidden from the

public for over 50 years + more.

  • I myself have been a loyal litterer in my community for year's. I will try to do more in my part to dump my crap off into the ocean watter's and further pollute the environment this I promise....Feed the oceans barrel's of Oil and freely empty your trash.

  • They should find the people creating the plastic.......containers.........stop using it

  • OMG :(

  • This is so unfortunate. I wish I could have faith that something can be done. The reality is that until someone can make the cleanup economically viable and/or profitable, it will never happen. If I use reusable containers and try to be as conservative as possible, with like minded people, it doesn't amount to a fart in a windstorm compared to the billions of selfish skanks out there that seem to think that the human race can mistreat the earth and nothing negative is going to happen. Keep driv

  • @1chabot1 Amen

  • Heres an idea! Why arent shows like this made into adds that are on mainstream TV to educate the pulblic??? Because it costs too much? Because everything we use is plastic and its too hard to change? It seems a simple idea for goverments to adopt. When a problem like this is just left to grow we are truly a doomed scociety. I feel sorry for us all, we are just pawns of the corporate world and we really seem to have no controll over what to do about it.

  • Great presentation. Be part of the solution take The Plastic Challenge.

  • If you're interested in recycling art and trash watch "Safe the planet-Recycling art" ,"Your trash haunts you" and "Miss Biarritz" you will enjoy it !!!

  • How much trash will there be when the population of the world is double?

  • Capitalism is killing the planet earth and no wonder the sea lives are dying....Every corner of the world is flooded with plastics and is affecting to all living lives of planet

  • @KOYAINKA Um, no. In fact capitalism created globalization, which lead to today's world where China won't nuke the US as well as we won't invade France anymore because we all depend on each other economically. If anything "kills the planet" it's our poor decisions as people. Seriously, plastic bags look trashy anyways and soda actually tastes a lot better from a glass bottle. Cheers.

  • Down through history, the Bible has been banned and burned, and those who would translate it have been oppressed and killed, but yet it continues to be the most widely distributed book in history.

In 2007 alone, more than 64,600,000 copies were produced. To put that into perspective, consider that the best-selling work of fiction that year had an initial printing of 12 million copies in the United States. Not to mention, it seems that this "fictional" book, as you say, is historically accurate.

  • The solution is bigger than us humans, period. Jehovah God created the earth. Isn't it therefore reasonable to conclude that He will clean it up? The Bible states, "He will bring to ruin those ruinning the earth." Jehovah will then restore the earth to Paradise, His original purpose. This is the only real and permanent solution.

With them out of the way, Jehovah will then restore the earth to Paradise, His original purpose. This is the only real and permanent solution.

  • good lord... we're fucked.

  • 'recycling' is to a large extent a myth (still)

    -

Only preventing the manufacture of (most of) that $hit, or -at least- facturing ALL of the damage caused into the price would really help.

    ==

    > people cant go without their soda...

and generally the stupidification+infantilisation (making-suckers-of) the population (=~ advertizing) has to stop ...

  • melaleuca baby

  • @0ff1cejetg85 they are studying for an efficient way to clean it up without hurting sea life.

  • Please at least recycle, humans are pigs. we will kill earth if this doesnt stop.

  • The pollution is beyond the fix now!!! The best technology can not reverse fix the carbon dioxide and all pollutants!! The foreing beasts (white people) are killing the mother earth!!

  • @KOYAINKA Obvioiusly your racist ass missed the reference to Asia's contribution you ignorant ass.

  • @itlfa2009 Yes, Asian chinks are contributing in killing the world with pollution

  • The only way to prevent waste ending up in the ocean is to prevent it becoming waste on land. Recycling is the best option. Preventing the manufacture of non recyclable materials is another option.

  • Atlantis!!

  • and capt. moore uses plastic ziplocks.hahahaa.. what an irony!

  • @SonOfTrance they are probably ziplocks he pulled out of the ocean.

  • @RobotSuperstar yeah, probably :)

  • Guess what everybody? Noody is going to do a damn thing about this problem. Know why? Not one country has the balls to do anything about it. This is why Humans will destroy themselves. We are all screwed not by meteors, but becase we have brought in ourselves.

  • This has been known of for 60 years but only now is the media beginning to cover it? Thanks, assholes! And especially thanks to Dupont & their stockholders who should be the 1st to foo the clean up bill!

  • Start at home don't use plastic bags ...Pick up the plastic off the streets ...Every little bit helps ..

  • @alansitarbrown ITs not gonna save the world though

  • People tease me for being so intensely fervent about recycling and reducing waste. The poor state of our planet is exactly why I do it. I’ve even gone beyond my municipal recycling program and have found a place that recycles all types of plastics; including polystyrene.

The level of waste we’re seeing in our streets and oceans all comes down to our rampant consumerism in the developed world.

This atrocity has made me embarrassed to be associated with human beings.

  • @Warhawk9012 I couldn't agree more. And I'm not even a "Hippy".

  • Humans dont deserve the earth anymore and the sooner we all die out the better for the planet and its wildlife. Sorry but we are the parasite's in this world!

  • Comment removed

  • looks like there is a lot of life in that garbage

  • Nature is the only one that is going to solve this problem. The elimination of this stupid, lazy civilization is the only answer. Mankind is like a virus on this planet, we have destroyed everything we have touched and finally, we are trying to kill the planet. Mother Nature will have the last laugh. All she has to do is sit back and watch us kill ourselves at an alarmingly efficient rate.

    Goodbye civilization...

  • Thank you for contributing work creating awareness for the poisoning of our oceans with plastics. If all the world could be set into producing weapons and war for all of 5 years during World War 2 and cold war for 50 to 70 years then hopefully we can set it to clean up plastics for 5 to 70 years.

  • Please join my facebook group so we can have real conversations about this problem, how we can help to spread awareness and what we can to help cut down on the increasing amount of plastic being added to the oceans each year!

Facebook Group The Plastic Soup of Our Oceans

  • Gotta love that American consumerism.

  • This is a very very important subject that needs to be known my all, and addressed.

  • this makes me so sad,, i cant believe what we have done to the planet

  • OMG this is sooooo bad. What are we all doing. your right Quantumbabe, the world is to blame... stop what we are doing we are doing it wrong.

  • When u see things like this u have to ask do we really have the right of stewardship for this world, do we deserve to survive? The only creatures that benefit from our existence is us, and even then we spoil our own existence, how stupid is that? Too many of us and way too greedy, sooner or later we'll pay for it, all of us, and everything else alive will pay too. The only world known to support life in the universe, a unique and irreplaceable gift, and look how we treat it- Talent :(

  • what a total f*ck up :( theres something very wrong with a species that does this to its own habitat, could say ignorance is bliss, but we are the only species that can actively choose to turn a blind eye to any problems we cause, which we do admirably to anything that brings our way of life into question.

  • How bout we send the fucking navy .... and military out there to do some real fighting.. fight for the future of humanity.

  • Some times I hate mankind! Fuck us to hell!

  • We recently wen on vacation to Canada's wet coast. I was shocked to see plastice on ever beach! Sometining I did not see on visits 15 and 40 years ago. Humans are the scourge of the earth!

  • So they make us recycle plastic just to throw it in the ocean

  • As of writing this, the video has been on Youtube for 18 months and had been veiwed 77,000 times. Lady Gaga's lame video "Bad Romance" has been viewed 190 MILLION times in five months.

Here's my idea: Let's make a video of Lady Gaga in a skimpy swimsuit, swimming around in this mess. Millions would surely log on to see it. However, I doubt even that would open anyone's eyes or make them change their ways,,,

  • We're fucked

  • why doesnt someone just clean this shit up?

  • @PashminaAfgan

    Are you volunteering?

  • i knew it was bad but not this bad, it makes me think it would almost be better to melt all of the plastic down

  • @DSmyles Are you stupid? Most non-recycled plastic ends up in landfills or furnaces, not the Pacific.

Claiming there is more plastic than plankton in the gyre is outrageously dishonest. The guy is making it up. There has not been that much plastic ever manufactured let alone dumped into the Pacific. You have no idea how big the ocean is and how insignificant we are, do you?!

If it's so true, where are the aeriel shots of quare miles of plastics?

  • @NaitchahBoy Lol his account is closed, guys dont feed the troll ;)

  • This video has a very clear message... recycle mofos!

  • Really I've never seen something in smaller seas. Like Mediterranean, or Ionian or Adriatic. How only in Pacific? Maybe because is too far and we cant. check it out? I don't know, just my thoughts.

  • NaitchahBoy... you are the IDIOT!

  • Good argument, Einstein. I will have to rethink my comments after you explained the weaknesses in what I previously wrote.

Do you have brain damage or are you just naive enough to think anything in the video is accurate?

  • @NaitchahBoy - HEY I'VE GOT AN IDEA! LETS FUCKING TAKE HIM TO THE GARBAGE PATCH AND MAKE HIM EAT PLASTIC AND PCBS UNTIL HE DIES!

  • NaitchahBoy....... You are the IDIOT!!

  • humans are disgusting

  • Poly Island!!

  • hey, i just took a huge crap in my pants!

  • Yeah, well done 'naitchah boy'. The ocean's massive so lets dump all our crap it in. Wonderful logic. And I guess those animals habitats being destroyed; well stupid animals should just move...

Yeah "eco morons"; can't believe you actually care about the planet! Fish and birds stink anyway...let's chuck more bottle tops in the sea so we can kill them all.

  • Yes, eco-morons. The ocean is WAY too big for us to do anything significant to it, you tit, ribs and biscuits.

All they have is localized pictures and they make it sound like we are some how suddenly big enough to fill the ocean. Get a brain. Look at how tiny we are on the planet compared to the ocean. You think bottle caps make a difference enough to affect habittats? You are just gullibly stupid.

  • @NaitchahBoy I would suggest that you get a brain before you make false claims about the devastating impact that humans are having on the environment. In fact, I challenge you to save all of the plastic you use in one week and multiply it by the number of people in the world. Then maybe you'll understand that what you and I consume and throw away does add up and it will result in very serious consequences.

  • Comment removed

  • @NaitchahBoy Moron.

  • @NaitchahBoy you are a douchebag. The average person produces 65kg of disposable plastic waste every year. You think that times the decades that we've had disposable plastic and then take into account that there is an excess of 6 BILLION people on earth? DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT 6 BILLION FUCKING PEOPLE CAN'T DESTROY A FEW FUCKING ECOSYSTEMS IN A FEW YEARS YOU FUCKING DICKHEAD?

  • @30PAGES Most of the people producing this plastc waste don't live anywhere near the Pacific, idiot! Do ships transport if from Europe, Africa and the 90% of the Americas west of the moutains? Do ALL people on Earth create 150# of plastic trash per year? I don't. Your statistics are baseless propaganda, as is this shideo. The size of this dump means it can be seen from satellite pictures if you zoom in close enough, but all they show here are staged close ups of a few cups and wrappers.

  • So you're saying GB hasn't contributed to the plastics in the oceans? Keep dreaming.

  • This is very disturbing!

  • we are the consumers, we can refuse to buy anything package in plastic, and the producers will package it in something better. if only we were brave enough to say no to plastic for say a month, they would crap their expensive suits and think of something better.

but people cant go without their soda for more than a day. we are worthless consumers who refuse to act until disaster strikes. worthless!

  • The problem is that most people don't really care, the item with a nonplastic container can be worse (glass), or it costs too much.

  • I don't know if we are worthless; I think we are dangerously and amazingly brainwashed and uneducated.

Present company excluded, of course :)

  • @sotpap2003

Guess your going Amish...I cant think of anything not packaged in some sort of plastic. 10 million years from now scientist will scratch their collective heads at the plastic layer right before the mass extinction layer.

  • @sotpap2003 Where I live the shop has to take back all packaging from the consumer. Just do that in your supermarket. Leave the plastic there and they will soon rethink their position on waste.

I used to buy milk using my own aluminium containers. For more than 10 years without one single package needed. Then tetra-pack came along and with it mountains of garbage. What about reusable containers? We're using reusable software, but not reusable hardware?

  • @sotpap2003

i agree with we refusing the demand for plastics.I refuse to take the plastic bags given at the grocer's ,vegetable vendors etc.

Are you trying to reduce your consumption?

If you have done that , you could even create awarness among your friends (to begin with).

You seem to understand the situation , it would be easier for you to act on it.

  • what if we trhow our garbage into a volcanoe ..

    is that not allowed

idk its just an idea ..:p

  • you know that's exactly what came to my mind.

  • @serbocroat Wow, that is not such a strange idea, I believe it is going to take some out of the box thinking like that to really help , This is a terrible thing Everyone needs to know about this spread the word , I saw the Captain of the Ship on Letterman and he was very very disturbed about nothing can be done..He compared it to us lighting a fuse of a Bomb on the Earth that will exploded in like 100yrs and we cannot do anything about ....We need to get all minds on this thing...Please spread

  • This is very sad. Even sadder is that people don't care enough to stop. Those who ruin the Earth should be brought to ruin.

  • Yeah, lets stop using plastic as much as we can. Each one of us contributes to stop this shit. but plastic is so deep in our sad sad society that this will be very hard !

  • 90 percent of the rubbish is macdonalds wrappers

  • They at least do use paper-based cups and cartons now. They previously used plastic and styrofoam. All fast food franchises should be required to use biodegradable products.

  • Particularly McD's which appear intent on creating its own rubbish continent. D'yas see how many bags of refuse each store goes through each day? Geesh if they're not carting it away for recycling, they deserve to have their asses firmly punted.

If we manage to get our act together, one day, we'll make companies responsible for the *entire* life-cycle of their product. Dell kinda do, taking back old PCs for recycling, but it should be the law. Cost: we pay more. Not a bad solution, imho.

  • @jackburton2009 sorry to say but these items are waxed and bleached and therefore a) harder to break down and b) full of industrial chemicals. Yes, they are better than plastic and styrofoam but they are not as 'green' as the producers say and are used to greenwash - the assumption that something is environmentally friendly and biodegradable resulting from the product being coloured green or containing one or two environmentally friendly materials.

  • This is heartbreaking to watch. And every country in the world is to blame...we all use plastics.

It's time we stop and think about our way of living.

  • @QuantumBabe You cant blame my country. We are not dumping one single piece of plastic, because we are not stupid. We are recycling it since beginning of the 1980s.

The people to blame are 50% the USA and 50% east asia. They are the top consumers of throw-away-products. Waste is necessary to keep capitalistic models alive.

  • @MillyVanillification Hehe, seems like you read a beginners book to sociology and politics. A market is necessary for capitalism, and the money recycling centers make in the United States from the government alone is sickening.

  • V good !

  • אחלה חיים פסנזון

    humanity

  • i

    hate

    illuminati

  • ok time to drop the bomb we really dont deserve to live here human scum !!!! congrats us canada phillipines japan asia australia new zealand south america !!FUCKING IDIOTS !!!

  • i think its so ironic that its granolabar wrappers and evian water bottles. naive.

  • hell, we harvested 3600000 metric tons of sardines in 1936...why can't we troll for plastic???

  • i'ts the time to going to take this, or the world is at the end in 10 years

  • Ironic it is.

We now drink water out of plastic bottles

where we have free drinking fountains everywhere.

  • A problem like this requires BIG Government intervention. A government for the people, of the people, and by the people. Don't let the corporate slave-masters and henchmen distort reality and get you to surrender the power given to real people by the constitution.

  • Everyone keep it simple, dont stray away by thinking about accusing, who to blame etc. Take responsibility and mentally know whats wrong yourself.

  • are we nuts? ..we have to de-nut ourselves people!

  • this is repulsive

  • We need to realize that there are old common practices that we should restore. Like growing your own food, its not hard at all to do. Its just most people are stupid, and ignorant and rather say 'Yawn, if I can't see this dump its not there." Well you're most likely in a concrete cage in downtown Los Angeles.

  • Why can't I buy shampoo and other similar products in cartons like milk used to come in? I could keep a dispenser and refill it, or simply use the cartons. If things weren't made of plastic, they'd be made of metal, wood, glass, paper. There are probably only a very few things that can only be made of plastic.

  • large barges dump it there dumb ass.

everyday S. F. dumps it out there about 25 miles out. and has been for thirty years.

  • a plastic water bottle is used for about two minutes then discarded. we do not need such a perminant container for such temporary use. lets buy water cartons like, milk cartons, or a hemp fiber water bottle.

  • I got into an argument with a cashier in a store once about plastic bags. I asked for plastic and she started moralizing at me - it was Haggen - anyway, I told her I like to use them as garbage bags. She insisted this was bad because they end up in the landfill, ocean, blah, blah. Okay, so if stores stop providing plastic, then I need to start buying garbage bags - which are guess what - PLASTIC! Not using garbage bags is filthy, and paper bags are unsuitable. What's the solution enviro-people?

  • Comment removed

  • hempseed oil can be used to make plastic, chemical companies and pharmaceutical companies are the sole reason for the war on drugs

  • If the government would step up and say to the manufacturers "No more plastic!" or "Standardize Plastic!" or "More recycling of plastic!" everything would change overnight... Vote for action! Not for words and smiles.

  • Do you realize how drastically plastic has improved every aspect of life? Sure we need to be responsible with it, but without plastic, your pretty little world filled with computers, TV, health devices, and food products would come crashing down.

  • YEA SCREW OBAMA!!!

  • The answer is NOT the government. The answer is humankind being more responsible. We need to STOP relying on our government and start being responsible for ourselves. And, we need to make people aware so that they can make responsible and informed decisions. However, that doesn't mean pointing fingers or blaming. It starts with you and me.
