  • I've read that most of the Juice Crew co-produced a lot of those records but didn't get credit. How Kane described it, he and Marley produced the song together.

  • Great story but too short.

  • Great story but too short.

  • 5 people were half steppin. Shame.

  • Who the fuck could give any of these stories a thumbs down?

    Love them all D! Salute!

  • @blackadam06 yeah you got Eric B. & Rakim Melly Mel Nasty Nas LL Cool J KRS1 N.W.A Some WU-Tang that was music

  • There are not many MCs that have ever graced this earth that can rip a mic like Kane can. Back in 88 this guy was the epitome of the B Boy state of mind and who I aspired to be... some of the other comments here are so true about just massive posses on stage and rappers needing videos etc, Kane tears the roof off the mutha just with his PRESENCE.

  • @DiscoScratch very true..you said it all.

  • @719kai719 They just did one..It was great.. I think they have it on Youtube still. I enjoyed it and he mos def deserved it because he is a veteran..

  • @hebrewbyyah LMFAO!

  • Thanks D- Nice, are you the original 808? Anyway, keep givin us this series! Peace!

  • The only thing I hate about the song, is the chorus.

  • ICON!!!!!!

  • THE ONE AND ONLY BDK THE GREATEST

  • Love all your videos man! What camera u usin?

  • Never understood the "Asiatic" part, but hey :)

Anyway, excellent job with these True Hip Hop Stories, D-Nice. Thanks a bunch!

  • @evethezealot : The Asiatic thing comes from Kanes belief in The NAtion Of Gods & Earths /aka The 5% Nation. It is a splinter group of that Nation Of Islam that seperated in 1969. Many of the 80's rappers are followers of this Organization. Kane,Rakim,Wu Tang, Busta Rhymes, Brand Nubian, Erykah Badu, etc.

  • @TheSonsOfLight Wow...those muslims know how to spead a religion based on violence against non believers...

  • @romainelettuce2 : What the hell are you talking about?

  • @TheSonsOfLight Nothing lol.

  • @romainelettuce2 : Oh Okay..lol

  • @TheSonsOfLight Thanks. i really mean the term "Asiatic" ... what does it mean? It sounds like "of the continent of Asia," but Kane is clearly not that. That's where the confusion comes in.

  • @evethezealot : The term Asiatic comes from the teachings of Elijah Muhammad 120 lessons that created the Nation Of Gods & Earths (5%) nation. Many rappers in the 80's were members of this organization . They believed the Continent of Africa was called Asia, & that the continent we call Asia & Africa is really one continent. I dont agree with it but its what they believe.

  • I miss Kane's flat-top :(

Big Daddy Kane is a Legand...nuff said.

  • [ c bdk dont have his hip hop dancers

  • The band is tight, damn real hip hop i miss it. ONE!

  • How long ago was this live footage taken? It can't be _too_ long ago. This shows that Hiphop is still alive! Long live the Kane! (Hiphop)

  • Notorious Biggie Smalls used anit no half steppin as a sample in his

    "Ready to Die" song

Ready to die 0:16 seconds in - "I'm ready" is BDK, they also throw in "I'm ready" towards the end of "Ready to Die"

    Look it up!

  • @assmuncher1984

He also used the beat to make party and bullshit.

    The background beat.

  • Dramatic, Asiatic, unlike many.....

  • @peelincaps - Is that a BDK line? KANE = King, Asiatic, Nobody's Equal

  • @assmuncher1984 Yes from the song 'Ain't no half steppin'

  • @peelincaps - Yeah. I know this. I actually posted the same thing on the

Notorious B.I.G. song Ready To Die, I thought you were saying Biggie used that line.

  • @assmuncher1984 I read somewhere back in the days it stands for King Allah Never Ends

  • @RichyJA - BDK uses the line "King, Asiatic, Nobody's Equal" in a lot of his songs such as:

Big Daddy Kane - Just Rhymin' With Biz

    he says:

The judge and jury, releasing my fury

The verdict that I reach for you is rather blurry

You see, the name Kane is superior to many people

It means King Asiatic Nobody’s Equal

I hate to brag, but damn I’m good

And if mics were a gun, I'd be Clint Eastwood

  • One of my favorite mc of all time!!!!

  • i thought this man was soooo sexy and his music was banging...i think he still has some swag

  • kane... I love ya , but MARLEY was right.. TOO MUCH SHIT IN THE HOOK... You killed the Lyrics, but to this day.. I always said.. "damn, too much in the hook", Hey, its a classic so what can i say

  • what was Marley mad about? there's more "noise" and stuff going on with Raw. lol

  • BDK is a God for real!

  • The Golden era of hip hop!!! NY cats need to take hip hop back and bring the rawness back! HIP HOP IS DEAD!!!

  • im from down south, but NY will always own hip hop.b cus alot ofcats now r wack as hell,no flows ca'nt do a damn show, niggas act like true ho's. no names.lol

  • @1TigerBruce Amen my broda!!! much respect for giving NY props!!! where brooklyn at?

  • @mxpassion17 Spot on..couldnt put it any other way!!

  • "Rappers stepping to me they wanna get sum,but im the kane,so yo you know the outcome"....classic!

  • I love how BDK put this beat together!

  • DOPE Check me out DNICE bro you always kept it real man peace!

  • what kills me about ol skool is the fact that these legendary mcs had hella fans who grew with these guys who still love that ol shit.kane shouldn't try 2 appeal 2 youngsters when his original fans r still here and grew with him.

  • Hey Daric, I didn't know you had a channel on youTube. I have been watching some of your videos on facebook and they are all well shoot and done. As for Big Daddy Kane, he is one of the greatest rappers for sure, and that Aint No Half Steppin is a Hip Hop Classic. I love your work, keep it up!

  • BDK is a LEGEND!

  • ay i kinda disagree w/ the p.o.v. of "old=good, new=bad" its some of the most talented cats to ever pick up pens out now. i love the classics, i stay with some Ra, Kane, YZ, Eiht, Rick, etc. but i dont think cats give due to ANYBODY in their period. Qtip, Hiero, Shock-G, none of them cats got their due in there season. i say that to say alotta cats is removin the roof off this art of rap and we just might not see it yet. no disrespect nowhere, im jus breathin my thoughts

  • One of the best tracks ever made!

  • Yo BDK got in shape. Last time I saw him he was more out of shape. Keep it healthy BDK.

  • You got it a wrong: music isn't all about playing instruments. Lyrics are the most important aspect of music, that's really what keeps the listeners attention. And often times, rappers mix multiple samples to create an entirely new sound. It's just like salt, it bears no resemblance to sodium nor chloride and therefore can be classified as somewhat original.

  • That has to be the most idiotic comments I've ever read. If you are a ball player should you know how to coach? If you can that's great but just because you play don't mean you can coach. Michael Jordan couldn't coach a team if he tried, nor does he want to. Michael Jackson could't play a guitar. So what! he could sing and dance. Because a rapper can rap who says he should be able to produce and play musical instruments??? Sorry fjj8. Not only was that statement pathetic, it was just dumb.

  • @fjj8 dude in hiphop we mix samples to create our own original song. This form of making music has given birth to other music genres like techno, electro, electronica, and any other genre that uses electronic instruments.

Also as an emcee it isnt required to make your own beats. emceeing is a high form of lyricism. So because the individual cant sing the individual must have a melody and complexed lyrics.

So please understand a genre before you start criticizing it.

  • True but think about this, what they lacked in musical ability as far as playing instruments they mastered in lyics. If you have no money you can't purchase no guitar. These guys had the mind to use the DJ as their musician and look at what's been created. All original buddy1

  • Ain't No Half Steppin with The Smooth Operator BIG DADDY KANE!!!!

  • I have a strong feeling the "aint no half steppin" title was taking from Rakim's verse off "Eric B is present" off the classic Paid in Full album. Its like Biz Markie had a song called "Aint nobody beats the Biz" and I have a feeling that was takin from Ra's verse of "My Melody". I'm just sayin.......Daddy Kane a legend though fo real.

  • Actually, "nobody beats the Biz" was a play on a commercial from the 70s and 80s that a music store called "The Wiz" had and their catch phrase was nobody beats the Wiz".The Wiz was big back in the day in N.J and N.Y

  • Say word? Thanks I never knew that still. One love and peace.

  • Yo dog! forgot bout the Wiz fam! Truely old school right there! There was one on rt 4 near the Garden State Plaza! Thats like Crazy Eddies!

  • or maybe from the song itself by heatwave

  • Long Live the Kane!!!!! One of My Favorite Rapper of all Times

  • Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, and Kool G Rap the greatest to do it.

  • tha king

  • The real question to Big Daddy Kane is... are you ever making another album?

All your fans want it and you know it.

  • TOP3 mcee of all time gotta throw my man kool g in there also.

  • Aint no Half Steppin will forever play on my deck.. Big Daddy Kane, I Salute You!

  • LONG LIVE THE KANE

  • Kane is a great artist a true MC had the plesure to meet him way back in the late 90's or early 2000's

  • Remember when rapper put on a show and danced. Now they just bring 200 people on stage and walk back and forth. Sometimes you cant even find the rapper on stage.

  • @rexboogie The difference is that the rappers THEN had enough skill they didn't NEED all those extra people. I love this series man. I took me back to when music meant something. Kane is still the man.

  • @tybarnettcomedian True, but BDK was in a group. Still though, everyone in the Juice Crew were very skilled at what they did. Kool G Rap and BDK could spit really good, while Roxanne and Biz Markie were pretty good and Biz could beatbox.

  • Kane still lookin good! Ain't no half steppin is one of my fav hip hop songs.

  • Top 3 Legend's

    Big Daddy Kane

    Kool G Rap

    Rakim

  • Not to forget KRS-One, Ice Cube, Kool Moe Dee and Chuck D.

And Kane is the best MC ever slightly above all these names. PLEASE make a new album Kane!

  • Still in my top 3 of MC's!!!!

  • I love this channel, child of 74!!!

  • Soooo glad BDK insisted on that horn! That is the BEST part and really punctuates the punchlines in the song.

  • Legendary stage presence... BDK - taste of chocolate- vs. the Dolemite - funniest shit

    Thanks D-Nice!

  • Brooklyn MC's. Once again......Kane was the ultimate MC to me back in the day. His metaphors are still unmatched.

  • J U ice crew... Seems like yesterday when I first heard him on "just rhymin' with biz.." he was the backbone of the juice crew..

  • Warm it up kane!!..

  • Way back in 88.

  • BOW 2 A TRUE LEGEND.

  • D- You're a damn good storyteller. I love your work. What kind of camera do you use?

  • An instantly recognisable tune.
