If you are going to be an engineer, you WILL need excel. Excel is far superior for analytical purposes when compared to Openoffice spreadsheet. However, OpenOffice is good for simple tasks.

I have a question..i just made a presentation..and had added animations to all my pictures and text. I used the fade out animation for all my animations that exit and progress to the next. But when I save my presentation to my flash drive and open it up on another computer, all my animations I used for my exit's...go away..and the pic or text just go away really fast...with no animation..why is that?

@picvic7 it could have some compatibility issue. sometimes you have the same program version installed on two different systems but when you carry a file from one system to another, certain effects gets lost. I'm not sure why but they just do.

@picvic7 it could be because of compatibility issues. sometimes although you have the same software version installed on two different systems, the configurations are not always the same thanks to the ability of customisation/configuration(ce­rtain options may be blocked on the next computer system). sometimes also you would have to wait a while for the content to come up or just click around on the slides.

I can't take this any longer. Dude I hate that microphone. Yes I'm using the just released OOo 3.2 RC-1. All the betas ("developer's build") run quite well. Don't be afraid of them. It sounds as if this guy has a microphone that deletes pauses so words "jam" together when there's a gap in speech. This condensation of dead air is a real system fart if I've ever heard one. Interesting but kill the mike. Use OpenOffice. It rocks.

I'm considering downloading this on our home desktop. I recently downloaded a trial version of Microsoft office 2007 on there for school, but now I no longer need it as I have it on my laptop. If anyone knows of a way by which I can switch my desktop back to a previous version for free I would greatly apreciate it.
