  • this is exactlly what sag is trying to straighten out. like great and amazing isn't it?? you can download it at moviesjudge( . )com for free..

  • See what Studio Heads say in the NY Times about their plan to eliminate actors residuals at SAGDEAL channel. It's just a click SAGDEAL. This current contract offer virtually eliminates actor residuals as reruns are delivered in an internet platform. VOTE NO on THIS CONTRACT.

  • Man, im sag eligible and I wanna join SAG just so I can vote for a Strike, I am really pissed about this, Digital IS the new frontier and we will get boned if we accept this, Ill keep my survival job a little bit longer if there is no work, just to make sure my future as an actor is secure when i finally get to work!

  • SAG will strike. We are not going to take the producers shit lying down........ we can and will walk. Defacto strike caused by the producers, actual strike caused by SAG. Watch, wait and see!

  • this is EXACTLY what SAG is trying to straighten out. AMPTP is giving us NOTHING. Not a little bit, but NOTHING. Should we strike? Hell yes. Will actors get blamed? Of course.

  • BOY COTT THE BA STARDS!!!!

  • screens will be fed...writers not so much....lmao..okay thats not really funny...but it is!

  • get your heads out of your asses! do you know what OWNERSHIP is? what it means? it means: take your FLAT wage, produce, stfu, go home to your family and come [sic] on your partner while watching redtube! you want DIFFERENT? start your own company, moron. or revolt, lol, losers

  • Soon you wont need any of these media devices . You will Just need a Microchip implanted in your FOREHEAD. Brain Cells Grow Readily on Microchips and communicate with them. Check out my Video Response above.

  • You want creamy entertainment or socialism???

  • If the shit they put on TV is the cream, I'd hate to see the rest of it.

  • There was a conversation here before that I didn't understand. Somebody said that all the media moguls in this video are Jewish. Is that true? Is it because the video maker chose to show only Jewish media moguls, or is it because all media moguls are Jewish? If so why is that? And then some people got upset that Jewish people were identified as being Jewish. Is that wrong? I mean, don't most people identify others by their race and/or culture to some extent, especially in film and tv?

  • NO, NO, NO, Adam. Media moguls are not Jewish. See the elephants in the room? All right then don't call them elephants. Don't even talk about them. There, that's not hard is it?

  • WGA is fighting the GOOD FIGHT. Keep it up! Give it to those greedy corporate bastards.

  • Some whoring corporate propaganda tools are whining that they can't pry a few more coins from the tight livered-spotted fists of their fascist corporate masters. Boo hoo! Oh yeah, the world is really going to suffer from the lack of fresh Hollywood crap for a little while. Get a real job, losers.

  • The "Hollywood Reporter" quoted Thomas Short, President of IATSE (union of stage hands & motion pic techs, etc.) as saying,"I don't believe the WGA ever intended to bargain in good faith. They are destroying a lot of lives in the process. As a result of their irresponsible and irrational behavior, the number of IA members who have lost work is approaching 40,000 people."

  • Maybe all the AMPTP trolls should join together and form a union.

  • Wow the WGA strike is really a non-issue for 99.99999% of Americans. We've moved on. I'm a little embarassed for you guys. Ya think maybe the WGA should stop blackmailing the producers and offering false promises to its members?

  • Hey, camshaff, it looks like you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. Thanks for your non-opinion.

  • Hey, Dumbdog, your lack of intellectual and substantive argument is made up for nicely with dodges and profanity. Thanks for demonstrating the lack of integrity of the WGA drones.

  • "Dumbdog?"

Wow... Creative... Brilliant play on words, sir. Ever consider writing? I hear the money's outstanding.

"Lack of intellectual and substantive argument?"

Pot... kettle... black. Bill O'Reilly's diatribes hold more substance than your "thoughtful" retorts.

The fact that the WGA wants a percentage of what's rightfully theirs seems to confuse a mind as vast and far-reaching as yours -- apparently, you're a company man, so there will be no swaying of your opinion.

  • Greed is not confusing. It's a crystal clear motive the WGA uses to justify putting television production crews, food service workers, and thousands of hard working Americans out of work. Inconsistent demands, threats of blackballing, and other dastardly tactics of the WGA have a way of solidifying my opinion.

  • I agree with the guy RIGHT above me in a way....PARTICULARLY because....well...i wonder...of ALL the crew that works on the movies, are the writers the ONLY ones getting the short end of the deal? Hmmm...shouldn't the musicians (composers) and actors then get paid more? After all both the music and the actors are there in EVERY tv episode...EVERYTIME you put on a movie. And what about he REAL little guy, the one who brings you coffee, the intern, the production crews......I mean what about them?

  • You're 100% right, but the WGA doesn't represent them, they have their own guilds and unions. And if they don't, they should!

  • Yeah but the WGA MAY not represent them...but they sure as hell aFFECT them no? I don;t know..it just seems that if you ae going to make a HUE decision like that, MAY want to consider the ramifications of the groups you aREN't thinking about. Oh and I hate Unions.....i think they are inherently evil.

  • The fact is the writers fighting for what they're owed. If they're not being compensated fairly for their work, why shouldn't they have the right to withhold it? The only people who are really to blame for the harm done to other groups are the employers who aren't giving their workers what they deserve.

  • oh am I making the collectivist mad? sorry don't start with that...let us jst stick to topic.

  • #4 question...maternity leave!? Sorry...issues once again NOT up to a union to decide.......In the end..policy which FORCES a company or individual to make a decision based on a union of people and NOT on their own personal beneficial agreement..not positive...I think laws which FORCE affirmative action and where our taxes go..IS inherently evil...enough of this discussion I wi speak no more of it...

  • Amen tarhun. Tell that to the AMPTP-paid trollers on the 'Why We Fight' video site. It seems to be the most popular WGA video, so they're putting all of their energy into multi-posting anti-WGA, anti-strike propaganda ie: the WGA is DIRECTLY responsible for putting everyone out of work, UNIONS are evil, blah blah, anti-writer blah.

  • As for your "unions are evil" statement... I don't really know what to say. Do you think equal pay for minority groups is evil? Do you think banning child labour was evil? Do you think concern for occupational safety and health is evil? Do you think maternity leave is evil? I'm not even mentioning the things that unfortunately haven't yet been achieved in the US like the universal health care we have in my own country, the UK.

  • No and yes...concern for the wwellbeing of others (as long as logically important to yourself) is not evil. However, collectivism IS inherently evil, sorry. The very CONCEPTION of universal healthcare goes against all I hold dear as an staunch individualistic Objectivist. Sorry.

  • TO answer your questions more directly (in order) #1...equal pay as LONG as it is for eqal work AND ability. equal pay shoudl be based on MERIT, NOT on the color of your skin #2...NO and you know why? Because that has NOTHING to do with Unions and MORE to do with basic human rights (of INDIVIDUAL freedom...something INHERENTLY not a part of the collective sorry). #3 Of COURSE I think it is important, but NOT something to be controlled by the collectivist populous.

  • Bait much? Hahahahahahaha ...

  • Someone has with this video edited footage of five media moguls speaking greedily and hypocritically, and each one of them is Jewish. Pointing this out is not bigoted. That criticism should be leveled either at the video, or the media itself. Although Sumner Redstone sued to win a huge profit from YouTube, YouTube is not quite under the direct control of his bankers like the writers/performers of Viacom product, who are restricted to a pretense of ignorance on the topic of who wields power.

  • Just don't understand the need to point out someone's ethnic/religious background, when it has no bearing at all on the topic at hand.

  • We all see the networks and studios run by these guys putting out the message that it's relevant who's a Christian, who's a Mormon, a Hindu, a Wiccan, a Scientologist, an atheist, and throwing around the buzz phrase "Islamo-Fascist" like a hypnotic mantra. Why should the fact that corporate media moguls are Jewish, the elephant in the room as it were, be such a big scary unmentionable secret?

  • The giant media corporations in this video are all headed by Jews. These same media companies day in day out speaks endlessly how religious affiliation is important when judging someone's character, especially corporate and political leaders. Why is it fine for them to discuss in detail the religions of others, but no one can discuss their Judaism? You seem to be either a purveyor or victim of propaganda.

  • Way to go freestuffffff! You've finally blown the lid off of Jewish people being involved in the entertainment business. Great work, genius. Did you know there are a lot of black people in the NBA? A possible topic for your next hard hitting expose?

  • One would think that writers or those appreciating their work might understand irony. The responses to my last post indicate at least one does not.

  • Or maybe one is not as clever as one thinks. Bigotry and hatred is a very serious problem, don't feed it.

  • And... many WGA members and negotiators are Jewish as well. Those guys happen to be the moguls who are involved. Nothing more than that.

  • BTW... How do you know that all these moguls are Jewish? And their birth ("nee Rothstein") names? You sound a little fixated, and anti-semetic yourself. Don't be an idiot.

  • I thought it was common knowledge. Why are you calling the poor guy a bigot for calling a Jew a Jew? Nothing wrong with being a Jew, is there? That's your clear implication and it sickens me.

  • At this very moment I'm listening to an employee of Bob Iger on the radio repeat over and over that nobody's going to vote for Barack HUSSEIN Obama, Barack HUSSEIN Obama, Barack HUSSEIN Obama. Oh now he's gone into a diatribe about Mitt Romney, Mormon this Mormon that. Does Bob Iger not know this goes on all day on Disney-owned radio? Is Rupert Murdoch oblivious that it's the same story at Fox "Islamo-Fascist" News?

  • WGA just issued a relief fund for industry workers (non wga members) to help with our financial hardship due to this strike. Such as your house being lost , food , utilities , and loss of medical benefits, ect. Check it out if you need the help info on( BTLNEWS,COM )under strike blogs... or if your a non wga member and need info seek out below the line magazine for info on line

  • lol

  • $0.00, huh? So writers aren't getting paid at all for writing? Please BE HONEST; what you mean is that you are getting $0.00 BEYOND the considerably larger than $0.00 amounts you initially get paid for your work, right? Say that isn't enough, fine, but please don't pretend you are not being paid at all; it does *NOT* help your credibility or your cause.

  • @ SeriousStudent: No it is correct, for DIGITAL media (Internet) they get nothing $0.00...Thy only get paid for traditional media, TV, DVD etc. and not much either..

  • @zast160: Do you think when something is shown on the Internet, the money that writers were paid for writing in the first place is somehow magically taken back from them? No, of course not. Not getting paid for additional use is NOT the same thing as not getting paid at all. If I take food home from a restaurant, the cook isn't paid EXTRA for me eating at home, but that doesn't mean the cook didn't get paid AT ALL for making the food in the first place.

  • @ SeriousStudent: You have no idea how the media industry works. Most breakout writers only ask for royalties. Writers are payed on a variable income. The financial nature of writing is that of accounting, law, etc. Unless your working for a client right now, your financial future is unknown. Research a topic before you make statements based on economic fallacies and counterfactual assumptions -- or continue to make an ass outa yourself, "seriousstudent."

  • OK, maybe the clip is not clear enough, don't think intension was imply they get nothing at all. as in 00:28 i says "Writers will also double their revenues from *digital* ..." the clip does not talk about total revenue... check out "why we fight" clip, explains it better. I understand the writers complaint, even though I do miss Supernatural :(

  • David Letterman stepped up to the plate for his writers!!! Go David! Knock out the late-night competition & sink the Bad Guys!

  • Do a Google search for "'Narc' writer-director Joe Carnahan dismayed with WGA leadership".

I REALLY like his suggestion on how to secure a deal. But I'd replace any bathrooms with two pots for...you know. Then I'd raise the heat after they've used both of those pots at least once. I think both sides' motivation would heighten along with the stench.

Some people may think this is cruel and unsual, but if this continues "Smallville" will only be half a season. And that's pissing me off.

  • Don't blame writers for all of this. AMPTP is successfully spreading the propaganda that crew are out of work "because of writers". No, they are out of work for now, because of studio and corporate GREED. Studios are refusing to negotiate on ANYthing, and are costing hundreds of millions in their avarice. I hope everyone will stop by the United Hollywood site today and learn what this is really all about. As for 'striking later', they strike when their contract is up!

  • If a strike happened it was expected in 2008 for some reason.

There's enough blame to go around on. The AMPTP definitely have some, but the WGA leadership isn't blameless either. And this isn't from the AMPTP. Several WGA members have voiced displeasure at the WGA.

Joe Carnahan had some interesting things to say that can be found online at Hollywoodinsider.

  • Good luck and keep strong. From across the Atlantic I send you total support. Your cause is our cause.

    Joss Agnew

    TV Director - UK

  • Unbelievable. Talk about a guy who just rolls over. No concept of principles at all.

  • I have no problem with writers standing up for their principles. But there are makeup artists, costumers, grips, electricians, and production assistants whose homes and belongings are in jeopardy because the writers are striking. And you know what? They don't get residuals on ANYTHING. Most of them rely on those paychecks week to week. It's a noble thing to stand up for your principles, but not when it risks the livelihood of so many other people in the industry.

  • So the writers are supposed to not strike and watch their paychecks diminish as internet sales rise? When the media conglomerates refuse to compromise on the writers' share of the earnings from dvd and internet sales you expect them to deal with it? Oh, but I forgot you're concerned about the little guy. The electricians and production assistants who could easily transfer their skills to another job are at stake in the strike. We can't allow that. good point dipshit.

  • But it WAS the WGA's fault that below-the-line workers have been harmed. The three guilds were going to strike next year so that all three could be in better bargaining positions. This had been known for quite some time and studios were preparing for it. However, the head of the WGA was the one who suggested striking early. And they had to have known that the strike was going to hurt the below-the-line workers. So, the rhetoric that they're doing this to help everyone falls flat.

  • That is always going to be the case with labor vs. management disputes. A negative side effect, if you will. Yes, non-writing staff members will be and already have been hurt and yes, that is extremely unfortunate. However, they are being hurt in the short run. In the long run, if the WGA takes this stand now, all other unions will have more leverage regarding this new media issue when their contracts are up.

  • Brilliant. Hand these execs' rear end to them on a plate!

  • This kind of selfish piggish ignorant behavior is why people feel cynical about the entertainment industry. What a shame that these assholes get in there and mess things for everyone. They really need to be replaced.

  • I miss the Daily Show! Pay these writers so they can end this strike!

  • yes, but not getting worthless.

  • You think unions & strikes are outmoded? D'ya like the weekend & 8-hour days? The unions got that for you. Social security, end to child labor, vacations/breaks, health insurance, health & safety regulstions, end to job discrimination & hostile workplaces by race, sex, nationality, gender, age etc.? The unions.

Unions are nothing more than everyday people working together to have as much clout as Big Business, Big Media, etc. and not get taken advantage of.

  • I love this video

  • The studios dont have a leg to stand on.

The only thing stopping most people from support writters is they simply dont know how much the writters get at the moment. (unfortuntely the "all tv writters are millionairs myth" is quite a strong one)

  • Make that "foul-mouthed". You're still a troll.

    GO WGA.

  • Huckit, you're a fouled-mouthed troll.

    Go WGA!!!!

  • i support the writers completely.

this whole thing the companies are trying to pull is such a shit load.

  • 100 % support for the writers!

    this is ridiculous

They Have to acknowledge their hypocrisy...

when it comes to their investors... "new media is a cash cow"

when it comes to paying the people who create the content... "um... we don't understand the internet- we dont get any money!"

    Ggrrrrr!!!!!

  • I think I have a much better idea of what this strike is all about. It is hilarious that these overpaid buffons sit there and talk about how digital is the best thing since sliced bread... I mean, it makes sense though. It is a chance for them to make just as much money on the product while screwing everyone else out of their well deserved payment for doing their job. Arrrggg... bring back the writers, bring back Heroes!!

  • these guys make it like they're working class or something. They'd be better off using their spare time to make videos about real working people in coal mines, migrant workers and such. those people have no air conditioned offices, or the oh so noble tasks or writing plots to 'cavemen' or 'the oc. give me a break!

  • Serious... do you even understand the issues... it isnt about what is fair for everyone in the world... we are talking and fair payment for a job. Would someone write a book and then sell it to the highest bidder, not making anything from sales, etc. No.. it is the same thing. All they are asking is for the fair percentage for the work they have done (which is like .4% by the way).

  • Not to mention that just because they work in Hollywood for huge networks means that they are millionaires... who says they aren't in the same bracket as the working class??? On average, many of them are probably out of work half the time anyways....

  • Fantastic vid. I had no idea what the strike was about but now i think i get it. I just hope the companies get wise so I canwatch colbert report again

  • God, I hate Murdoch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • mlma tv trailer is awsome!!!

  • very funny video. some people seem pissed because the deem 'writing', as a field, as very lucrative. - but I understand..you have to FIGHT for your fair SHARE or they WILL..TAKE it from you.

  • I've noticed that the same accounts that disagree with the writers also are ignoring copyright with their accounts. The dont create, they steal others works.

Its about creative and intellectual property. The Nobel peace prize is the residual income made from the manufacturing of blasting caps and explosives. Writers are entitled to residuals just like other innovators. Writing is a business and businesses can receive percentages based upon usage.

  • Wow. SOme of you seem to think it's ok to work for free. Where do you work so I can come get free services from you?

  • Among other things, this is a tribute to the value of good writing. Well done.

  • What a shame!

  • Just because you love your job doesn't mean you shouldn't get paid for it! I'm sure

  • true.

but it doesn't start out as a job. it starts out as passion. if you get lucky enough to make money doing it, so much the better.

i think that writers deserve residuals. without the writing, nothing else would be possible. at least, nothing worth watching or reading would be around. i'm just saying that writing is passion first, job second.

  • this is such BS. Pure utter BS. No one works simply for the love of what they do without worrying about money.

  • but i didn't say that now did i?

  • mlma tv trailer is awsome!!!

  • PAY THEM, YOU IDIOTS!!!!!

  • Pay the writers their fair share!!!

  • PHUQUING AWESOME. PAY THE WRITER!

  • you gotta go to MLMA TV...

  • Hollywood should know about the artists guilds strikes in the 1930's because recorded media was supposedly going to undercut their live show income. Boy, were they wrong. Internet provides the most significant opportunities for artists to maximize their income. Now writers themselves can put up their own sites, they can at a cost of next to nothing directly communicate with their audience. This is the dawn of the golden era for push-media and the writer. CLive - InfoTelesys

  • You are one ignorant mother-fucker, dude. If I write a book, I get a royalty each time one is sold. If I write a movie; I get a royalty for each DVD. If I write a TV show, I get a royalty for each re-run.

  • *corps

  • As an auto worker, do you own the copyright for the car?

  • you do if you wrote the blueprints for the car

  • No, because when the company sells the car, the car is gone. They can't sell it again -- your wage is essentially the cut from that one sale.

When an author sells a book to a publisher, the publisher can sell that book one time, a thousand, or a million. It would be a ridiculous system for the author to get a flat fee.

  • so a six figure flat fee is ridiculous? yeah you know we're in total agreement on that issue. nevermind the people scraping by on only 20 thou or thirty thou a year. we need to get these writers paid!

  • go to mlmatv for more info

  • the arrogance is appalling. producers take advantage wherever they can; it's their job to get the best deal for themselves & their company. take control back by creating for the internet. and unions, get a clue & stay ahead of the game by thinking in advance when it comes to new technology. why wait until you feel you have no option but to strike?

  • It is appalling. Same kind of arrogance everyone can see in the Bush administration's Wars-For-Profit program. All for Big Oil, Blackwater or other friends. Huge corporations do anything they want. Can you? "Other white meat" Democrats offer a "less malfeasance" or "slower road to disaster" plan. Our government is in the deregulation business saying essentially "it's ok to rape people for profit. We do it! Ignore that man (your Conscience) behind the curtain", it sets the tone.

  • So true! No one is more arrogant than Bush & Cheney. I'm backing Dennis Kucinich for President 2008. He knows what needs to be done to heal our country & isn't afraid to stand up to the huge corporations that threaten our freedom & independence.

  • Kucinich is STILL running?! I haven't heard his name in the news in a month.

  • You must have missed the CNN debate in Las Vegas, Nevada on Thursday night. It does appear that the mainstream media is unwilling to talk about Dennis Kucinich at all. But Keith Olberman, David Letterman & even Tucker Carlson are talking about him. Watch the Kucinich Weekly Updates on YouTube for more info.

  • Pass. At this point, he might as well drop out. I literally haven't heard his name mentioned once on NPR this whole week-- hell, the past month.

I applaud your efforts, but seriously, time to move on.

And please don't use this video as your personal soapbox. This is a video about people losing their jobs because of some snot-nosed executives that are too cheap to pay their workers.

  • Why write anything when the studio heads can implicate themselves?

  • OK, I feel nauseous this morning due to all the vodka I drank last night giving me a bit of a hangover. But this shower of capitalist demons REALLY makes me heave. Up the writers.

  • Wow ceremonyforafatlip, you really don't know what you're talking about do you? The reason the writers are striking is because that contract, that they signed up for, that didn't give them jack for DVDs and the internet expired. The expired contractt was written before the Internet was even invented and before the major boom in home videos thanks to VHS.

  • the studios got totally pwned in the clip.

  • Great post! That was a bit of an eye opener!

  • 1) Several of the CEOs were in that video bragging about how much more money they're getting from digital (internet)

    2) Why would the studio or the execs stick so much about digital percentages if there was "no money" in it? The studio IS losing money on the regular broadcasting revenues with the ongoing strike. Why would they do that if there's no money to be had in the long run?

  • "Why should you get a piece of the pie at all when you take none of the risk"?

Royalties work like this: If the risk pays off and the company makes money, the writers will as well. If the company loses money, the writers get jack-shit. Read a BASIC book on marketing, please. If the writer does a poor job, he doesn't get paid. Simple. There's the risk.

  • How much do these writers need, really? It's not like they have a mansion full of servants to pay. Or chaeuffers and groundskeepers, like the studio heads. Think about it--the electric bill from one of these execs Belair mansions alone could easily eat up the profits from 2 or 3 CSI's. And writers kids can't eat that much, can they?

  • Jeez, people...you never heard of sarcasm?

  • I'm no scientist or moneyologist (as you obviously are), but if every episode on TV loses money then how do the CEOs stay so rich? And if it's true (as I'm SURE it must be), shouldn't networks and studios be designated as non-profit organizations? Why don't the writers get behind THAT cause, huh?

  • Actors sometimes work 17 hour days - and yes sometimes it is physical - but it's more emotionally and intellectually demanding then you could ever know. Same with anyone on a film crew.

  • GO WGA!

  • I support the writers! The Media Execs are lying through their teeth!

  • and of course, the CEOs who get seven figures working on the backs of ALL of you _totally blameless_

  • Writers are middle class too, hate to tell you. Only a small percentage make 'bank'. Scripts take a while to write and may or may not even sell. Writers DO depend upon residuals for future income, and a working wage. Also, this isn't just for current writers but for the future. And what the studios do to one union, they will do to another.

You would not even have a job if not for what the writers create.

  • you are clearly a greedy producer like the pple seen in the above video - most of the writers striking would fall into the catagory of middle class. It's not brain surgery ... the producers are making money off of the writer's intellectual property and the writers deserve a to make a percentage of that!

  • 1. WGA members are middle-class

    2. Writers don't have multi-million dollar deals; actors do.

    3. Who has to work as long and as hard, and deal with the same job uncertainty as the average writer? A Janitor may have to work long and harder for less pay, but there are much less janitors in the world vying for an occupation than there are writers.

    4. Writers currently can't afford to be unemployed for 6 months; they're fighting so that they can afford to do it, as it is a common occurrence.

  • To be fair, some writers do make millions. Most of them, however, are strictly middle class. Same goes for actors as well, as far as I can tell.

  • Well, okay, granted.

  • Shamgod411, you need to do homework before throwing around words like "bullshit" and "don't legally have a leg to stand on."

Look up the definition of residual: "What remains after the greater part has gone." We're paid a portion up front and the REST as it comes in. The "extra" money is really part of the INITIAL DEAL.

Do you really think studios paid residuals all these years even through writers "didn't have a right to stand on" ? Are you truly that stupid or are you just trolling?

  • I pm'd you. check your youtube inbox.

  • well done! keep up the good fight!

  • Redstone the whole bunch. Corporate slimy scum. Time for a revolution.

  • Great piece of video Shows you what lying, greedy scum these studio heads are

  • Excellent video! I said the same thing to my husband, when an exec on the news claimed they had no way to calculate internet and cell phone sales. Do they think the public are morons!? (I know - they do.) When will studios learn that without a script there is literally nothing. I'm with you all the way. If I am able I will even join the lines with you - I'm in affiliated unions myself. Hang tough!

  • Good video...hope the writer got paid for it...

  • Sad fact. It's easier for six conglomerates to hold the line than it is for ten thousand writers. Power is their principle. This is it, writers. If you fold, they will never take you seriously again. It will be rollback city. You have to be ready to drive a cab, tutor rich kids, copy edit a corporate newspaper. Get a job, you've got to hold out or they own you.

  • its called trickle down economics... they are pissing on us!

  • its called trickle down economics..... they are pissing on us!

  • Good luck writers.... we're rooting for you!!

  • Amen.

Do not give up or give in.

  • and this IS the real world. enterainment is part of that. we ALL consume it, in mass quantities. the arts are part of a complete society. and when society has a demand for the arts, the artists are paid. but if you think the artists should have some kind of cut off point when they shouldn't keep making any more money, that ain't how it works. JK Rowling doesn't get cut off from the profits after a million books sold. if the books keep selling, she keeps making a %.

  • Song writers and playwrights get paid royalties per use also. Somehow screenwriters are the only ones lacking respect in their own industry. Studios should wake up - Hollywood does NOT have to be the center of the universe any more, and they need writers more than vice versa.

  • oil field. film set. hopsital. school. whatever. we all do our different things in life and EVERY profession is needed. but in ANY profession, if the corporation is making billions and YOU are the author/co-inventor/creator of the product, you get paid for the future profitability of that product. we all need oil, and we all seem to greatly enjoy entertainment on TV and at movie theaters.

  • No one is paid according to how hard they work. You're paid according to how much revenue your contributions generate. If you generate millions of dollars in revenue, you are paid well. The entertainment industry is like that. A relatively small number of people entertain millions and generate millions. Writers are no different and deserve their cut.
