Thank you so much! you have no idea how nervous and shaky I am right now... I am doubting all my skills and knowledge, and hesitant to aim for General Surgery (something I'm passionate about). This really calmed me down and got me to think about this strategically.
@SegmentsOfLife I'm glad it helped. The truth is that having concern for your level of skills & knowledge is normal. And if you weren't nervous, I'd be very worried about you. The absolute worst way to approach your interviews and training is with arrogance (& you, clearly are not). And as for passion... that is the ingredient that will separate a good interview from a great interview. Think... strategize... then do what you have to do & do it with passion. You have the recipe :)
I imagine that the "owners" want a candidate who has got a huge medical knowledge, capability to work continuously for lots of hours,no complaining habit and is culturally "in accord to" them
@anisocoro I suggest you sign up for the free RookieDoc Survival Skills membership & take a look at the 2nd Guiding Principles video - rookiedoctor.kajabi.com/posts/guiding-principle-02-part-1 ... I think it will help you a lot. The fact is, that assuming the worst in residency programs & residency program directors does nothing for you, your patients, or your career. I offer the solution in that 2nd Guiding Principles video. Check it out & let me know what you think.
Thank you so much, it really helped me. It was so clear and simple :).
