@Blinkyboy99 The Italian man did not approve of his son being part of an inter-racial relationship with a black woman. To the Italian man, this was an offense grave enough to be punished by death.
... Angie set his kids' black GF up so's to kiss the Dons' ass... Shorty always had th' hots for Carol... Shorty capped Mikey instead- 'cause he was jealous of the bosses' kid for hitchen' up with her... Shit... The City sure is cleaned-up since th' 60's... Looks-wise, that is... Mafia's still th' same, though... and bein' an underground comix artist, too...
@SNESosT It's not so much about what he said but that he said it. Instead of giving up, knowing that all the odds are against him, he's stepping up to play the game of life and try to win rather than letting it beat him down.
This film really raises awareness for the way the world is these days. As raunchy as it may be, it's the exact kind of depiction necessary to portray the problems with today's society. At first glance it may just look like another pointless violent film, but instead of glorifying the destructive lifestyle, it speaks out against it in an artistic way that encourages you to think about what each scene is specifically representing, making the messages that much more powerful.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Stylish artwork, great music, excellent symbolism, and superb ending. I'm glad I took the time to watch this one. I'll admit after watching some clips of Fritz the Cat I was kind of afraid, but this film is wonderful. The ending really makes me want to cry. It's all so realistic and believable. He almost learned the true meaning of love, but then you remember that his life was cut short by a jealousy and anger.
It's nice that Bakshi included the happy ending as well, and the live action actors do a great job of portraying the characters in the story. It goes without saying that my level of respect for Bakshi has risen with this film. It's dark, it's edgy, it's violent, and it's sexual - but unlike so many other movies that fit that description, it has a message.
Man, I still don't get this movie. I think the animation was either past events or fantasy, but I'm not sure. Also, the credit sequence has a great jazz tune, and the ending was nice.
my has this VHS, and i just watched it last night since you were missing some parts. interesting...i don't understand what message he was trying to make
while managing heavy traffic's glaring racist stereotypes and bitter cynicism, i love the raw, gritty feel of this movie, as it stands as a homage to 70's street culture.
HAHAH yeah the guy taking photos of his junk was funny! the western game is an old one called "QUICKDRAW" You had to pull the trigger right before the robot dfummy to win.
It's funny, isn't it? Animation, live-action, rotoscoping, in-between... the people in this universe have the same appearance, personality and behavior no matter what exact lens we see them through.
I never got to see the entire film of Fritz. But when I rented Heavy Traffic & saw the ending, it felt like I was on acid. This whole movie is completely insane. And that's why I love it!
It's explained on Wikipedia that it's a kaleidoscope of shocking and disturbing images and events before throwing to back to the live-action story. It's a Bakshi thing. I'm not sure if that doesn't help, but I tried.
That was the stupidest movie Ive ever seen in my life....
