Catherine has such a beautiful voice. i am glad that you posted her singing this song. while listening, i realized that in my mind, i imagine singing the song to someone but this time i felt and heard cath singing this song to me :) and it made the song even more wonderful to listen to.
i'm wondering if you have and could post, ms. mckinnon singing farewell to nova scotia. i heard her sing that once on the tommy hunter show or other canadian variety show and it floored me. :)
Do you have a copy of her version of Couler's Candy? If so, is there any chance that you might add it in the near future? I lover her voice.......astonishing!
I used to have this album - Arc Records as I recall. Some fine songs on it. I also have an old vinyl copy of the New Christy Minstrels soundtrack from "Advance to the Rear". Dumb movie but some great songs.
Wonderful singer .First heard her in 1969 when living in Scotland.Great to rediscover her now that I'm retired and living in Mauritius. All these songs take me back through time to those years in Scotland and it's wonderful people.Thank you for affording us this pleasure. Steve Sangeelee
Thank you for posting some of Catherine McKinnon's music. This album was in my home too when I was a teenager. It would be greatly appreciated if you could post her version of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face from this album. Thank you!
Great up singing along with her albums. A little Nova Scotia girl learning from a grown-up beautiful one. I learned a lot of songs from Catherine first.
What a pleasure to hear that wonderful voice again. I wonder if anyone out there has her recording of "Try to rember". Would be great to hear it again.
Re this song, it's such an amazing reminder to live in the present, because the past is gone and there is no guarantee of tomorrow. So very meaningful and beautiful.
the Netherlands calling! When in Canada in 1971 I bought all 5 available LP's of her both with folksongs and evergreens.A very good singer, particular those of Irish and Scottish origin(Dan O'Hara,I gave my love an apple, Eriskay Love Lilt). The American-style evergreens were less interesting, the Nova Scotia Song of course a highlight. She should have continued this style as the 1980 new style LP was of no interest at all.But the 5 old LP's contain many musical gems.Certainly underappreciated
I love Catherine MacKinnon's Voice, would you have "Farewell To Nova Scotia" Sung by her. Catherine MacKinnon's version will always be the best. Thanks for sharing this song
I grew up with the sound of Catherine McKinnon's voice on the stereo, so this really brings me back. I also have a strong memory of a 1973 variety special she had on CBC; it culminated in her soaring rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water."
Thank you! I grew up listening to her!

Past is history, Future is mystery. Today is our present, that's why it's called "Present"
