I have an rx8 and have no problem shitting on 350z on turns. They cant even keep up..Straight line they take me by a headlight. When it comes to turns 350 has no chance against the 8..
@HuckFoly umm you are wrong the z laps the nurburgring in about 8:26 and the rx8 is in the high 9 and low 10's. the nurburgring is the toughest race circuit in the world. so no the z will not lose its even faster than the s2000 (which i own 8:39) i have also seen other videos in which the z always finishes a circuit race faster. z handles very well.
all i know is that i just smoked an audi a6 today that started 3 car length ahead of me in my stock 03 z touring model. Once i hit a about 110 i passed him had to throw it in 6th gear though at 110 which made me wonder about it getting up to 160 what the speedometer says so i dont know if it will get up there but fuck audi z takes audi over bitches
a 1.3 wankel compared to a 3.5 is a big ass difference. its a 1.3N/A non the less, no turbos or superchargers.. so no excusses as a 1.3 is holding it up against a v6 3.5 to the ground...

the z is always going to win a drag race against an rx-8.
everyone knows this.
what people don't know is how good the car handles, and even then, being slower in a straight line, it still hangs in there with the z.
on a proper track with twisty's, the z will lose the race.
in a drag race, the z will win.
To the people talking about engines and all, it is a 13b rotary engine.
pretty remarkable for a 1.3 litre rotary that is normally aspirated.
it deserves some credit.

Z is AT stock while RX8 is 6 speed with bolt ons pushing around 280-290hp
