My husband has been making this for years only he does it slightly different. He takes the individual leaves and brushes them lightly with olive oil then grills them till they start to wilt on the edges. After he takes them off he puts them on a plate and adds feta cheese crumbles and a light coating of Italian dressing. It is wonderful!
I rarely add comments, but I must say, John, since you aren't the chef in this video, and you sound downtrodden, I will miss your freedom to act alone, and without all recipes on your back :(
No es bueno!! First thumbs down for Chef John ever...guess you cant please all the people all the time, i will skip this one! Im headed back to chomp on my molasses brined double cut chop!
Hi Chef John, i would just like to say that all that lettuce you are filming at the Tanimura & Antle farm is all Monsanto genetically modified garbage. Please do not promote anything made or sponsored by Monsanto, if you dont know why please do your own research.
@Jeedawg i think you will have trouble convincing the millions of people that are starving and dying every day because they dont have enough food because their crops couldnt survive, or that there wasnt enough to go around. but luckily you dont have to worry since you have 14 local farmers markets where you can buy your overpriced organic lettuce. who cares if it doesnt effect you personally. down with evil corporations! yeah! big man is the devil! vaccines too! and pharma! conspiracy! blarrrgh!
@kekejojo1212 Look im not just saying this because i saw one video LOL Ive researched into this for a while now and i based my comment on my findings. Please do the same. And you are correct about the other things you mention also towards the end of your comment :P Let me guess, the world i just as you see it, nothing more nothing less. What you see is what you get? Go back to sleep, or wake up and join the rest of us!
For those of you that are wondering why women cover their face while working, is because of the sun and no chef John is not a tradition!. This is how they avoid sun burns and scars in their face and body. Notice they wear long sleeves too..
Your last name sounds Polish - have you ever tried kolduny? It is a Lithuanian version of the famed Polish pierogi, and they taste absolutely heavenly, there is nothing better in the world. Just one tip: it is a crime to cut a "koldun" or eat it with a knife and fork. What you do is take it on a spoon, bite a corner off, suck the liquid broth from the dumpling, and then eat the rest. I promise, you've never tasted anything better!
Not only do you provide delicious looking recipes, but the recipes are easy to follow - it's fun to have a relaxed chef guide you through these and even though I am a recent watcher, I plan on trying some of your recipes very soon!
Oh my gosh! We had this on our menu at Nokhu on Canyon in Fort Collins, CO - almost the same exact recipe! I loved this salad! Thanks for reminding me to make it more often!
Cayenne is the audience's way of controlling Chef John. This is why Chef John is always reluctant and aware of his use of cayenne. He limits his use to show us that he is the one in control, not us. We feel we must have an impact on the dishes Chef John serves up.
@mgblue In a lot of occupations where women cover their faces, it's because the men that are working there are usually handling sharp objects (like knives) and if you're a guy, then you know how distracting a pretty girl can be :P
@Sugarfairy117 If only there was a way to look things up... like some kind of magic box... if you could type your question and-I don't know--have the answer just APPEAR in front of you...
