Bring back the thought of the old days waistline parties in the basement black lights strobe light shake um ups wine and juice :) Good Ole Days having a great time miss those days
i wish people would stop blaming young people for stupid music hello its da record companies and management that is not looking for talent anymore but looks and not talent anymore and hollywood with their so called love but dont bother to report on beautiful love and who is it thats buying all these garbage?????????????..look in the mirror....thank god for my parents and their wicked collections of "real music" and their 47 yrs of loving married life without being skinny and full of botox.lol.
So sad young people today don't feel like we did back in the today. We were looking for a future, not just for a right now. Even if it didn't last, we knew we had loved.
This song is a tribute and reminds me of my big sister who fancied that someday she was going to be a top notched singer and she used to spin this 45 over and over again in our bedroom, I still see her standing in the mirror singing. Early in the morning it was the first thing I heard and the last thing at night..... Thanx girl. Love you madly. Baby Sis
please do not get down on sampling. maybe just maybe the kids are not taught to play instruments by parents or at school. they still love music and heard the old school songs at home. so they make music with them. and besides, in most cases the original writers get most if not all of the royalties. i love this group but would not mind if i heard a sample using the track underneath.
@ SevenDollarBill7..I hear you loud and clear, this is a message in Soul Music, there is a reason why it's called SOUL, it was made to soothe the SOUL, and Yes, I'll be a Witness, I've been playing music for over 40 years!
Wow! I hadn't heard this record since the 60's in Paterson NJ but I still sang it. I couldn't remember who made it and my bff had not heard it before. My mother used to play this so much I remembered the lyrics. I was around 7 or 8 years old. Thank you for posting this precious song. It brings back memories.
A masterpiece, one of many, penned, arranged by those giants Isaac Hayes & David Porter. Hayes also plays organ and piano on this one. This is one of the greatest songs of all time! This was created when people were setting the example, not sampling. Where, when and how did we lose our ability to create and start to simply appropriate or, worse, imitate!?!?krxn11
I knew this song word for word back then, believe me. This is an all time classic. Even the arrangement cries out to you. Have you ever sat and watched people enjoying this music. Absolutely everyone moves, listens, shake their heads as if in conversation with the singers/musicians. I do not remember another song, well maybe Isaac Hayes' I Stand Accused, which causes the entire crowd to fall silent and LISTEN!
Thank you for bring it back , because long to hear these songs again, i was at lease 10, 11,and 12 when i heard these songs.I just happen to click to this website, i am happy i did.
This is when singers were SINGERS! Back then, they didn't have the studio technology that we have today. Therefore, back then (60's & 70's) if you couldn't sing, the technology wasn't there to make you sound good...like most of these perpetrators today, who THINK they can sing. I would name about 20 of them, but I might get sued. So I'll just keep it to myself.
The way she brings her notes in sync with the emotion and agony of a broken heart it impales you at it just pulls you into the pain with her. though I was lil boy then (7or 8) I felt something and asked my moma'nem to play that again for me.Though that request was never filled,I still never forgot this song.
women what would ma oprah say get rid of him the sweet the pain and his sad ass but guess what it is still fun to sing these songs women just had to have them and sometimes its really sad and nauseating but depending on your self steem i just be u tubing having a blast from the past cause no generation will ever ever and of couse never have the joy that we experienced not just the music the double dutch the mama may i not curse you out hot and bread and butter we were smart enuf to know better
@1952jukebox Oh man, just seeing the word RIPPLE in print makes me want to puke! I drank so much of it that they should have hired me to do commercials...we (high school seniors in '65) usually drank Red Mountain (a nasty Gallo product) 'cause it was 52 cents a quart, and then out came Ripple White -- a huge step up the taste ladder from Red Mountain. We were ecstatic..and THEN..out came Ripple Pagan Pink! If you've never drunk two bottles of Pagan Pink you haven't ever been truly miserable.
Wow I remeber this one. The artists on Stax were raw and non polished like Motown artists for instance. I like when an artist isn't restricted in order to cross over.
This was music was music, remember? And love was true love!Beautiful children were made during the course of these times! We as a family and a whole suffered but music like this kept strong and together, because it built our souls with reality, thats why it is called soul music!!! Those were the days and had i known they were gonna come to an end because, does anything last forever?I would had embraced them much harder...

I had a good stero, Some times the beer made the tears come down. This song touch my heart. Thank U. clavon06 u made my day thank u. Soul Children could really sing.

Where has all the really good heart warming "Soul Music" gone? You gotta ask yourself that question when you listen to this song.
I love this song. I have been trying to find the name for a couple of weeks now. A guy at work told me today. I miss this music. Today music really sucks and has NO SOUL.
IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO YOU ARE WHERE YOU CAME FROM. SOUL MUSIC IS UNIVERSAL. IT EXPRESSES LOVE AND COMPASSION. THIS LOVE IS NOT THE SAME ANYMORE, IT'S LIKE IT'S BEEN LOST IN TIME. THEY SAY THAT WE NEED REMINDERS OF THE PAST TO KEEP US FROM REPEATING IT. BUT WHEN IT COMES TO MUSIC, SOUL MUSIC TAUGHT US HOW TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER THROUGH SONG. WHERE HAS THIS GONE TO? WHEN OUR WORLD IS GROWING COLDER DAY BY DAY WE REALLY NEED THIS MUSIC TO TEACH US HOW TO LOVE AGAIN
Oh yeah, now that's classical soul and those who don't know need to know. Listen to the words as they tell a story. Good find young blood, keep it up!
i must agree when i was a kid i couldnt belive how good the harmony was the tracks was recorded on two sides so if you trun down one side of your speakers you will hear only the harmony
We had them perform at our homecoming 2 or 3 straight years in the 70's. No one ever got tired of having the same group coming those years. They were really good performers on stage. Thanks for the beautiful memories!!!
I was seven years old when this song was out. It has a new meaning now.

CAN I GET A WITNESS?

Oh yeah, now that's classical soul and those who don't know need to know. Listen to the words as they tell a story. Good find young blood, keep it up!

We had them perform at our homecoming 2 or 3 straight years in the 70's. No one ever got tired of having the same group coming those years. They were really good performers on stage. Thanks for the beautiful memories!!!
