3D means 3 Dimensional. X, Y, and Z. 2D means 2 dimensional, X and Y. If you have played games like cadillacs and dinosaurs, you'd know what 2.5D is. X. It allows you to move left or right of the screen. Y. It allows you to jump upwards. Z, it allows you to move up or down, ie inside and out. SO you can see that it has a 3D environment where you can move in 3 dimensions but none of the aspects of the game uses any 3D engine the graphics are made of sprite and such.
Yes, in fact if your an advanced artist amd animator, you may find that the bone tool does not render as wanted if you do decide to use vecter lines as your drawings. See my video to fully understand it.
After using CS4 for a month I decided NOT to buy it and reverse my projects to CS3. It's slow, the improvements are not worth it, the tweening is not very efficient compared to the old method and you are stuck with actionscript 3 if you want to use stuff like 3d. DON'T SWITCH to CS4. It's simply not worth it.
what i hate is how frames and keyframes are handled. you can't select, copy, paste, or even move individual keyframes, but you can to full frames. it's confusing, but i'm still learning it.
Why Adobe, WHY!?!? As an aspiring flash author, I'm TIRED of having to replace my version of Flash! Damn you Adobe, and all your new innovations! About 50% of all my experience in Flash 8 has just been rendered null and void! Now i have to go get used to THAT.
Okay, yeah, that aside, it does look like a software with a lot of potential... but I don't think I could keep up with a whole new version every year...
There's no such thing as "2.5D". A dimension has to be COMPLETE, it's either the complete dimension, 3D or its not. Even if it may not be of a high 3D quality, it's still 3D.
A dimension cannot be incomplete a.k.a "2.5D", such a thing does not exist.
Not talking about a mixture between the two... even so, it cannot be classified as "2.5 D", such a dimension does not exist.
"D" stands foe dimension, which is either whole, or non existent. Simply because, in this case, there's a mixture, suddently doesn't mean there's a "2.5 D".
Yes he moved a square. And yes, it IS a big deal. You know why? It saves a LOT of time for moving things in Flash. It doesn't have to be a square. Ever heard of Super Mario Bros Z? This kind of stuff could get us a new episode of that every three weeks. It makes it a LOT easier, trust me.

i dont care about the development aspect of flash. it was never intended to do development but animation. i think adobe should stick more to that business model and make cs4 a great animation tool.
i could be a better animation tool. visual studio :m$ sun microsystems, and open source all ready have the IDE world covered. the internet and the dev world doesnt need another prog tool. adobe is well known for bieng on the designer schema of the business and shouldnt move away from that. perfect example nintendo. on another note. i dont like to be called an "idiot". especially when i dont deserve it.
The power of flash lies in its integrations of code and visual animation. It gives you all the control that hand-coding offers, while maintaining the ease of design that WYSIWYG drag-and-drop GUIs allow. Were it not to integrate an IDE it would be far less useful for interactive web content creation, which accounts for a huge portion of Adobe's sales. It may not be Eclipse, but that's not the point.
And, Posting about IDEs on a video that is devoted entirely to the graphical aspect is idiotic.
This is great. But I'd also like to see better stability and a better actionscript editor. If they can put in an AS editor half as good as Flash Develop I'd be quite pleased.
Flash CS4 has some nice features indeed. The New APIs will certainly hit home with all of us Devigners and Designers who wanted to explore 3D in Flash without 3rd party plugins. Integration with Themro will make CS4 a worhty tool.
Not much improvement. A little bit easier but not worth a new version.
A lightweight vector based airbrush is a big gaping hole in flash. Something that lets us paint with the brush tool but we can control the amount of feathering/softness to the edges.
Also better brush handling. Not more controls...please, but just make the brush work as smoothly as it used to.
This is 2.5D:

2.5D as an animation term means working with flat 2-D elements in a 3-D space, creating realistic-looking camera pans and zooms.

Not the right place to ask, but anyway:
I'm copying an object from one Flash project into another. When doing so the object in the new project gets terribly pixelated!! Why could that be?

you can still use actionscript 2.0 in cs4.

so in cs4 tweenng is the only new thing? but i have a question cant you do that with motion guide?
LionelAre 3 years ago
Nope, actually Flash CS4 has a lot of new things. Like the Bone Tool and 3D support =3
And yes you can, but this way is easier, saves a lot of time and has better results also. Or seems to have, at least XD

actually 2.5D is when the foreground is 3D but the background is 2D

"D" stands foe dimension, which is either whole, or non existent. Simply because, in this case, there's a mixture, suddently doesn't mean there's a "2.5 D".

you know what people mean though, by 2.5d. like littlebigplanet is 2.5d because it's like a 2d game but it's rendered in 3d.

we can just do this easy with an extra motion tweening layer and edit mulitple frames option, this isn't really worth the money at all
ineedmorenaruto 3 years ago
oh there's a 3d function now =O that's useful
ineedmorenaruto 3 years ago
Oh, you can make 3D objects in older versions as well; they just need to have ActionScript.
Whiteoverblue 3 years ago
imagine you want to do a scale and a rotate on one object but at different times
scale on frame 1 20 and 40
rotate 1 15 and 50
right now youd have to create 2 symbols one with the rotation and another with the scale so they wont effect each others timing]
but in this new one they are giving each one its own set of keyframes
Object 1
scale [1 --------20---------40]
rotate[1-----15--------------------50]
that way you can change each seperately ,
katheb 3 years ago
never thought about that =O
