  • What is that tube driver mod called? It sounds like a really useful mod.

  • Very cool man, great sounding mod!!

  • where do you get this mod from?

  • Great guitar!!!

  • such a nice sounding guitar

  • @seansi It was a really nice sounding guitar...I had the pleasure of playing against it for a few years (it was my friends who was in the same band) and we would even swap guitars sometimes. I sold it for him (and a few others) when he had his sights set on a Gibson Joe Perry Les Paul. Thanks for watching!

  • how did you get the tube driver on your strat?

  • @RichieVallejos It is a tiny unit that replaces one of the tone pots...

  • just a question, how's the fretboard and does it have a glossy finish on it or is it just the camera that shows it that way?

  • @fulivius It's glossy...I grew up on a guitar like this and it brings back memories, but I don't like the glossed (and 7.25 radius) fingerboards with the little frets myself...I usually prefer Rosewood but have a nice neck from an MIM Deluxe Strat with the 9.5" radius and the bigger frets that I love...it's got a barely finished Maple board...to me much better...

  • I kept waiting to hear: "70's strat, white coily cable and my trusty Dr. Z amp."

  • @jezmundberserker Sounds like you need to do a video response...

  • @greengtrs: It does, doesn't it? But well, that's Gearmanndude's gear. However I might post a video response after Friday. I already know that Santa's getting me two things: one is semi-hollow, the other is all-tube (small but powerful all-tube). I can't wait!!! I do have a strat I might review though. It's an MIM left-hander that I turned around so I could get the Hendrix vibe going (I'm not a southpaw.) Then I put noiseless pups in the neck and mid positions and a Fender '54 in the bridge.

  • @jezmundberserker I did a lefty Strat demo here where I flipped it over and played it upside down...quite the disadvantage on the high end (cutaway)...but it was fun...

  • Gearmandude himself - got ya!

  • @MrZielku if I was, wouldn't I most likely use some effects?

  • how much was ur strat??

  • Amazing Guitar!

It sounds really good...I'm searching it in natural finish! Like Ritchie =D

  • GEARMANDUDES' DAY JOB!

  • this is my favourite guitar of all time

  • Fender Super sonic only goes up to 60watts right?

  • Hi mate. Love the sound! Where did you pick up the Tube driver mod? I'm having trouble finding info on it and I'd love to get my hands on one!

  • @designrpl got good mod boards at Guitar fetish.com

  • Is this gearmandude??

  • always so bad the distortion on fender amp.

  • Nice test!

have some problem with the 7.25 radius and the bends???

  • @perronegroH Ha Ha! Big time! I need at least the 9.5" (or more) fingerboard radius...either that or some creative fret work (flatter in the middle) or high action...

    Thanks for watching!

  • everybody says "I haven't played in a while, I'm rusty" when they think they're gonna suck

  • @randompersonsband1 Yep...that was pretty much my thoughts most likely...I just don't get much practice or play time anymore...hopefully I can change that. Thanks for watching!

  • now thats a real good sounding fender

  • What kinda pick-ups are you using?

  • this guy sounds like jack black rofl

  • You have to put a battery in the guitar for the tube driver right?

  • to much talk

  • @nashia222 Yeah...it was my first demo where I actually talked...some are better than others...some actually have some cool jams...look up some of my looping jams...or demos with loops that i jam over...Search "greengtrs" and "loop".

I try and improve as I go, but some definitely have more playing than others. The whole idea though on most of these is simply to prove/show that the guitar someone is about to buy works.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Sounds Like Gearmandude!

  • is this a guitarfetish tube driver?

  • Sorry, I bought it like this and although I did open it up to check it out, I can't remember what company it was and the guitar is now long gone...

  • is it a real 1974x

  • No...just a re-issue...they didn't make guitars in Mexico back then.

  • cool i got the same guitar, but im thinking of changing the pick ups.

  • Isn't that a mid boost?

  • This isn't the Fender one where it is a mid only boost...this one did however boost mids at one of the settings...been too long though and I can't remember just how it worked...

  • true dat

  • tell that to jimi!

  • does the neck pickup take away any crunch?

  • Does somebody know when the 70's (sunburst and black) were made ?

    Thanks :)!

  • in the 70s...?

  • @ConnerMan127

    the "real" ones, yes !!

But i mean the American Vintage model !

  • i got a question: does this model keep the strings in tune or do you have to tune them up after play it hardly (full bends/pinch harmonics for example)?

    thanks in advance.

  • Sorry for the delayed response...it goes out of tune bad if you even look at the bar or do any serious stretching. A Graphtech nut and string trees will solve most of that issue though...locking machine heads complete the picture for tuning issues on most Fender Strats.

  • Do you have details of the tube driver circuit, please? Is there a real tube inside your guitar or something? It sounds a really great mod.

  • Sorry for the delayed response...I don't have any info but it was fairly easy to find in a google search from memory. There is no tube, it just tries to sound like one (like an Ibanez Tube Driver).

  • @nickwellings

All of my guitars have tubes in them so I will always get a good crunch sound. I thought all guitars had them.

    One of them has 5 12AX7s and 4 EL34s.

  • can i buy one of these at a guitar center or samash?

  • If you're talking about the preamp/tube-driver thing, I doubt it...I found it on the internet when I was researching it...

  • ohh sorry no i mean the guitar are the pickups noisey.pepople say pickups are weak and noisey especially the bridge pick pepople say its weak with distrion.

  • You should be able to find the guitar easily. Stock Strats are kind of weak as far as output compared to something with a Humbucker, but that's how you get that unique tone...use a booster for leads and/or distortion...I never really need anything other than the gain channel on my amp...I have plenty of MIM Standard Strat demos with stock pickups here you could check out...I also have a few for sale now starting at $300 w/gig-bag...near mint condition...food for thought...

    Thanks for watching!

  • if i probaly get a start im going to put emg sa in it to give more power.beacuse im like a shredder type guy and love play fast and also like megadeth songs and so on.

  • Im thinking of buying a second hand very good condition 70's reissue sunburst strat made in mex, so what would you think is a good price to pay?......let me know...thnx

  • $500-600 range (at this time) I would think...sorry for the delay...

  • I've got a MIM Strat just like in the vid (all stock, like new) $475 w/ Fender gig bag.

  • it is texas special pickups?

  • I can't remember for sure...but most likely just stock or I would have listed the upgraded pickups...

  • that is a very beautiful guitar and want one

  • holy guacamole! ur sloppy alright!

  • Hey now! I ain't that sloppy! ...just a little bit...but I'm not really trying too hard here either (or I would never have let this "take" see "circulation".

  • TRUE!! very very true! well.. i should of listened to ya at the beginin!! srry bout tht

  • Mexicans to me always feel so plastic.

Japanese edwards are pretty sick guitars though. Just to prove im not ethnocentric haha.

  • Jap Edwards are cool!!!

  • please use the whammy bar! this guitar was made for that haha

  • It's sad that the tune isn't getting as it is when you use it.

  • your fingerboard looks like glass when it catches the light. i have a the same but with a rosewood fingerboard. my pride and joy. how often do you need to re fret? my frets (especially under the g string) have sufferd after 6 years or so, is this regular amount of time?

  • i wanna get my first strat after a couple other guitars, and i want to know if american made are the best, where do the mexican and japanese made stand? and how are the japanese made squiers? can anyone give me a hand?

  • There's a bit of snobery to the U.S. is the best mentality...there are plenty of great/amazing guitars that aren't made in the States...and Fender's Mexican plant does consistently great work...I don't know if it's still like this, but they used to just assemble them down there out of U.S. cut bodies and necks with slightly different components...and Japanese Fenders/Squiers are top-notch too...check my latest Squire Bullet demo...that guitar is amazing...always do the "blind" test...feel/sound!

  • @greengtrs

I have an 88 Jap-Strat that kicked circles around the USA made models that year so I bought the Jap one.

MIM is ok and actual build quality is not that far off from really early Fenders but the refinements make me want to reach for a USA model. The Japanese models are still great. They stopped importing them from Japan at one time when the USA QC was sucking big time but when Fender got back on board with the good stuff the Japanese stuff came back.

  • American ones are better than Mexican ones by far. Don't know about the Japanese Squiers, though.

  • the americans are better, but when i bought my 70's i compared it to an american standard and even the SRV custom and some other nice ones. the mexicans are half the price and 9/10's as good. i love mine as much as i would love an american

  • Definitely not by far, the difference is hardly noticable

  • I bought one of these 70's reissues, white with a rosewood neck - they're amazing! Fenders's best kept secret, i restrung it for left-handed with 10's, i even prefer it now to my 89 American standard strat (slightly duller but less noisy) which sits in its case. the reissue is much dirtier, zingy and classic strat sounding, the workmanship is top notch, the stock pickups are really hot, well done MIM !!

  • dude, that's one hell of a guitar, that's my dream guitar..doesnt matter if it's american or mexican strat, the way it sounds and looks are all the same

  • Exactly...I proudly play a Strat made out of a mix of parts including a Standard Strat body and I forget which neck...slightly bigger frets but it has the Vintage feel/shape...21 frets with Vintage style tuners and it's a Mexican one as well...just upgraded the pickups...I am looking for a lighter weight, probably Nitrocellulose finished body though.

  • if its made in mexico, then its not the best in the world... (no racist connotation intended) its just that the american is a lot better

  • Just to clarify a few things...when I say "best in the world" or "amazing" or "worst ever" (or whatever...) in my video titles, I'm just kidding around...sorry, weird sense of humor...and if someone wants to argue the point, I did say demo in the title so I'm not necessarily referring to the guitar, but the "demo video" of the guitar. Also, Mexico is actually considered to be located in "America"...and for what it's worth, the parts are cut in the U.S. and sent 50 miles south for assembly.

    TFW!

  • Mex strats are great guitars for the money, the American equivalents cost 2 or 3 times as much.

  • The Mexican Fender are great...no doubt

  • good job!

  • VERY NICE

I am getting the same 70's MIM next week in Natural.

    CAN'T WAIT

  • Not many people like it, but my favorite pickup on a strat is always the middle

  • What lovely guitar, I mean it looks great!

  • umm...

-is THAT a classic strat or reissue?

-if it's a reissue whats the difference between em?

-what type of wood is that guitar made of?

    - and what pickups are you EXACTLY using?

if you bother to answer all these thanks i'd appreciate it lol :D

  • i can try to answer some of those for ya.

That is a MIM reissue. Its probably alder, though im sure you can find out by searching the Fender player's 70's strat. They sound like the stock pickups, though its hard to tell. I put a set of those pups in my MIM strat and it sounds very similar.

  • reissue

classic is owned and alive since that year, a reissue is recreated but exactly alike

  • sounds like Kevin coster

  • best guitar in the world! (american one)

  • You sound like Jack Black talking...

  • dude i thought it was jack black at first lol he sounds soooooo much like him soooooooo much its ridiculous! haha

  • That's cool...no one has ever said that before...and I think he is very funny...I can relate to a lot of stuff in School of Rock...my kids like him too.

  • Everyone says you sound like jack black

  • It is Jack Black

  • Hi All,

It's up on eBay (U.S.) right now in a no reserve auction...look up "Fender 70's Reissue Strat Stratocaster w/upgrades! NR!". Thanks for watching!

  • your 70's strat is pretty nice, but my 70's strat is the worlds best hands down 70's strat ever, without peer.

  • Your's looks nice and I like the Sunburst finish, but I can't be sure without playing it myself...go ahead and send it to me and I'll post the results here and send it back when I'm done.

  • lol! i'm afraid you will just have to take my word for it mate! but i admire your way of thinking!

  • Really much better...

Keep on rocking guy...this time it's a good one ;o)

Thanks for your record it can makes me compare the sound to my own supersonic.

  • Good:)

    I like your stylee.

that guitar reminds me of the

    fender strat usa...

    guess its the color..

    anyways good job!!!=D
