The combat system of this game looks unbelievably slow and old skool.. I was hoping they'd actually try to do something new, not just copy everquest 1... Maybe other classes are a bit more fast paced than this.

@BetleyProductions if you want to play it, closed beta has ended, but open beta starts august 31st. i don't know where to sign up for open beta (i don't think you can register yet) but if you want to try before the game is released, go for it :)

@GuitarHeroRulez321 well,, good luck then mark my word, you will be wow the 1st week cuz of the gfx,, but then you will realize that you are running in some huge empty fields/zones and cities seeking party for hours to get things done. and 1 fight with a crab can be as long as 15min.

Awwww.

The Shield is now on the back when not used...In FFXI it was on the hand when not used and only the sword (axe,hammer...) was holstered.

But i gues the shield shown here is really large so it kinda would look dumb to have it on the hand all the time. But i liked in FFXI having the shield on the hand all the time since all of the MMOs have the shield on the back... But this is still just a small piece of detail. I cant wait for FFXIV

@stivking Thats because it won't make sense lol. They do it to make it more realistic. I mean ya its a final fantasy game but it just makes more sense to have some thing realistic lol. They looked at demons souls a bit I hear so they must have got the idea from them

@lacrateca Did characters just stand still in alpha? Because this beta version is essentially very slow auto attacking, followed by the occasional (once every minute or so) skill.

I REALLY want to enjoy FFXIV, but if all it can offer is an improved version of FFXI's virtual auto attacking, i'm prepared to be disappointed.
