  • I found copies of If You Can't Please Yourself You Can't Please Your Soul in CD format at Graywhale CD Exchange in Salt Lake City today. They have several locations here so I am picking up a copy next week. Let me know if anyone wants a copy with WAITING TO FALL by Virginia Astley in it's entirety:)

  • I used to own the compilation. It was called "IF YOU CAN"T PLEASE YOURSELF YOU CAN"T PLEASE YOUR SOUL" on Some Bizarre records. This was in 1986 and I found it in my small town in Alaska. Virginia Astley is so unknown in any music genre and I ordered more of her music from Tower Records in New York City. WAITING TO FALL is my favorite but I have not found it anywhere. I live in Salt Lake now and Graywhale CD here is excellent at locating rare imports so I will let you all know!!

  • Don't know. The compilation album I heard it on was called 'If you can't please yourself' or something like that. My brother has a copy of it still (or did have). It was kind of a weird mixture of all kinds of artists' recordings. I think she has a website so I don't know if that's worth looking at if you haven't done so already. She's definitely an artist who deserved a lot more recognition. But fame isn't everything. Look at Michael Jackson and what fame did to that poor guy!

  • Thank you so much for posting this awesome song of hers, :)

  • yeah, nice isn't it? i remember when the song was first released and i am surprised so few people know it. there should be a bit more of the first song though, not enough

  • Was this realised as a single? I remember seeing it on a compilation album with other artist, but not on any of her own albums, Im so grateful that I have two of her albums on cd. Its so diffcult to get any of her work on any format now.

  • Actually I just checked ITUNES and the album and song are both available. I never bothered to look before.

  • Thank u so much for the info! I will go check that now, yes your very right, fame is not everything, but ive never realy liked the commercial music industry after 1985 anyway, xD
